I don't know the context behind your comment, but gender matters for soldiers. When it comes to physical fighting, men are stronger. You can't risk security for the sake of forced equality. Both genders have their own strengths and weaknesses. Edit: to clarify, I'm not saying women shouldn't be allowed to be soldiers, we should just have the same physical test criteria for everyone.
@Ruby Dhillioness I agree, but you're missing my point, even grossly misrepresenting it. I never said genders fight wars. But bodies do. There's a reason why you're average soldier is much stronger than the average citizen. An average citizen cannot fight in a war even with the right weapons. Soldier's bodies need to endure a huge amount of load. Weapons are heavy, armour is heavy and you've got to traverse long distances with it and not be tired. Like I said, I have nothing against women in the army, the more soldiers the better, but they shouldn't have an easier physical test, which is what you should also vouch for since you want equality.

Dhruv, I feel you touched the surface of a very important topic, this needs a deeper dive. Jordan Peterson has some compelling arguments about the same. Should women have equality of Opportunity? Absolutely! Should women have equality of outcome? Absolutely not! Because in the past equality of outcome has created devastating results. Scandanavian countries are the benchmarks of equality of opportunity. Still we see that Scandinavian women choose not to take up STEM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) streams compared to men. This is why we see more men engineers than women engineers, this is why women are more likely to be doctors/nurses than men, this is why you would not see as many female plumbers and electricians. This is a huge topic and there are various viewpoints that you can educate your viewers on. The long oppression women faced, patriarchy, gender roles and conditioning, equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome, VC fundraising for women entrepreneurs etc. Nonetheless I believe for your audience this was a relevant and topical topic. @@dhruvrathee As I understand, equallity means giving opportunity to all without any bias , keeping in mind their abilities, expertise and limitations. For example, many army officers say that we lost the Sino-India war because the then GOC was from Army Service Corps and not from any Arms(Infanty/Mech infantry). As far as any stream where the armed forces fights using technology and the supporting branches, all must be treated same irrespective of gender. But I don't know whether that would be fair to even women if you ask them to perform the same way as their male counterparts in situations like hand to hand combats or if they have to live in situations where might be a problem to maintain basic feminine hygiene. Now, this might be a controversial point. Pregnancy. Now it's a well known fact that junior officers don't always get leaves as and when they wish for. Also, the armed forces tend to utilise an officer and soldier the most they can when they are young. I know, pregnancy is a natural right to women. But, to tackle a sudden war like situation, the required number of officers and soldiers (irrespective of gender), must always be on stand by mode. And to ensure that, the Government might have to come up with some policy to monitor the pregnancy of a female officer or a jawan(in future) as we might not afford a large number of officers(irrespective of gender) to be on leave at any point of time, more so if they can't return to perform duties in case of emergencies. Another point is the nursing the child and parenting. A child uptil about the age is 7-8 would need her mother. May be you would give her posting to peace areas during that period of time. What would happen to that male officer who just seved in Siachin and is hoping for a peace posting and suddenly learns that his colleague just got pregnant or had a baby and all the vacancies for the piece posting are filled up If anything is not compromising the security of the country and if someone is competent enough, I don't think it would be a problem. With little bit of support from her family and without any irrelevant pressure ( which is very common issue a married woman in india faces) , and a bit of education to the soldiers about the abilities of women, I'm sure they can perform duties at par with thier male counterparts. I can't agree to the point that in armed forces, equal outcome is not needed...

Gunjan Saxena was my father's college friend. They both studied together at hansraj college. My father kinda helped her in going into defence and she helped my father by providing information regarding commercial pilot training. Later my father went to Russia for commercial pilot training and she went to safdrajung flying club and then got into air force.

Being from an army family and brought up in the army camp, I do agree with your point but on the other hand, We as human being need to understand the difference between equality and similarity. Men and women both are equal but not similar. So there are certain jobs which will sound sexist but it is what it is. What matters is the choice should be in one’s hand not in the nature of the job and if they choose to do that job than they should not be treated special because of their sex. For example, a male soldier gets 2 months annual leave than same for female too even if they are pregnant( this might sound rude) but that's how it gonna be then.

In Russia, Female employees are entitled to maternity leave for a period of 70 calendar days (84 days in case of multiple pregnancies) before and 70 calendar days (86 days in case of complications with the birth and 110 days in case of multiple pregnancies) after childbirth. It is very natural to understand that only women can give birth. After pregnancy women can and do join their jobs.
But men cannot get pregnant. Only women can. If women chose to stay childless due to career then too they are criticised for being selfish. Maternity leave cannot be a ground to compare male and female officers.

I wholly agree that women should be allowed to participate in armed forces, so as to ensure parity between men and women. Here we have to take not that feminism should not be selective. If a female is able to match up the standard then there should not be any hindrance to stop her. But at the same time physical standard should not be lowered. If a jawan is completing 1500 m in 5 min, same entry standards should be for women, or if BPET excellent standard is 25 min , then it should be applicable to everyone. The moment we bring out the fact that a lady is to be given privilege, it doesn't mean we respect the lady, may be we are giving her precedence bcz we think that she is inferior to us. Equality means equality in all aspects, that includes no lowering of standards, no lowering of time duration to make some one CO just to showcase women empowerment, no discrimination in giving away badges ...if this is the case then men will feel that the expectation level from women is low. It is good that women are now being inducted in NDA ,but at the same time difference in training schedule is highly apparent. No one can be a able leader if one is secluded and is selectively participating in activities. Till the time this is the case jawans will never take them seriously since they themselves will not know the difference between strategies and tactics. I will be waiting for the day when best of both the worlds will fight together for the nation and will be equal in all aspects.
I made the Reservation system to empower the smaller casts so that they become equal to other after some time. But I didn't made it to be a permanent law so that politicians can gain votes and the deserving ones wouldn't get a chance - DR. B.R. AMBEDKAR

I don't know the context behind your comment, but gender matters for soldiers. When it comes to physical fighting, men are stronger.
You can't risk security for the sake of forced equality. Both genders have their own strengths and weaknesses.
Edit: to clarify, I'm not saying women shouldn't be allowed to be soldiers, we should just have the same physical test criteria for everyone.

There's a reason why you're average soldier is much stronger than the average citizen. An average citizen cannot fight in a war even with the right weapons. Soldier's bodies need to endure a huge amount of load.
Weapons are heavy, armour is heavy and you've got to traverse long distances with it and not be tired. Like I said, I have nothing against women in the army, the more soldiers the better, but they shouldn't have an easier physical test, which is what you should also vouch for since you want equality.

NOT TRUE. Gunjan purposefully hided the fact that she was not the first pilot to fly to Kargil,Sreevidya Rajan was the first female combat helicopter pilot to fly to KARGIL. Gunjan was the second. Gunjan and family knew it very well, BUT is taking the credit. AIR FORCE do have all records.

Should women have equality of Opportunity? Absolutely!
Should women have equality of outcome? Absolutely not!
Because in the past equality of outcome has created devastating results.
Scandanavian countries are the benchmarks of equality of opportunity. Still we see that Scandinavian women choose not to take up STEM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) streams compared to men. This is why we see more men engineers than women engineers, this is why women are more likely to be doctors/nurses than men, this is why you would not see as many female plumbers and electricians.
This is a huge topic and there are various viewpoints that you can educate your viewers on. The long oppression women faced, patriarchy, gender roles and conditioning, equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome, VC fundraising for women entrepreneurs etc.
Nonetheless I believe for your audience this was a relevant and topical topic. Urge you to share more perspectives on the same in future. Cheers!

@@dhruvrathee As I understand, equallity means giving opportunity to all without any bias , keeping in mind their abilities, expertise and limitations.
For example, many army officers say that we lost the Sino-India war because the then GOC was from Army Service Corps and not from any Arms(Infanty/Mech infantry).
As far as any stream where the armed forces fights using technology and the supporting branches, all must be treated same irrespective of gender.
But I don't know whether that would be fair to even women if you ask them to perform the same way as their male counterparts in situations like hand to hand combats or if they have to live in situations where might be a problem to maintain basic feminine hygiene.
Now, this might be a controversial point. Pregnancy. Now it's a well known fact that junior officers don't always get leaves as and when they wish for. Also, the armed forces tend to utilise an officer and soldier the most they can when they are young. I know, pregnancy is a natural right to women. But, to tackle a sudden war like situation, the required number of officers and soldiers (irrespective of gender), must always be on stand by mode. And to ensure that, the Government might have to come up with some policy to monitor the pregnancy of a female officer or a jawan(in future) as we might not afford a large number of officers(irrespective of gender) to be on leave at any point of time, more so if they can't return to perform duties in case of emergencies.
Another point is the nursing the child and parenting. A child uptil about the age is 7-8 would need her mother. May be you would give her posting to peace areas during that period of time. What would happen to that male officer who just seved in Siachin and is hoping for a peace posting and suddenly learns that his colleague just got pregnant or had a baby and all the vacancies for the piece posting are filled up
If anything is not compromising the security of the country and if someone is competent enough, I don't think it would be a problem. With little bit of support from her family and without any irrelevant pressure ( which is very common issue a married woman in india faces) , and a bit of education to the soldiers about the abilities of women, I'm sure they can perform duties at par with thier male counterparts.
I can't agree to the point that in armed forces, equal outcome is not needed...

Gunjan Saxena was my father's college friend. They both studied together at hansraj college. My father kinda helped her in going into defence and she helped my father by providing information regarding commercial pilot training. Later my father went to Russia for commercial pilot training and she went to safdrajung flying club and then got into air force.

Being from an army family and brought up in the army camp, I do agree with your point but on the other hand, We as human being need to understand the difference between equality and similarity. Men and women both are equal but not similar. So there are certain jobs which will sound sexist but it is what it is. What matters is the choice should be in one’s hand not in the nature of the job and if they choose to do that job than they should not be treated special because of their sex. For example, a male soldier gets 2 months annual leave than same for female too even if they are pregnant( this might sound rude) but that's how it gonna be then.

(I do respect all the position of the army but also seen the treatment they get as per their position ). Lot to say but can't.
In Russia, Female employees are entitled to maternity leave for a period of 70 calendar days (84 days in case of multiple pregnancies) before and 70 calendar days (86 days in case of complications with the birth and 110 days in case of multiple pregnancies) after childbirth.
It is very natural to understand that only women can give birth. After pregnancy women can and do join their jobs.
But men cannot get pregnant. Only women can. If women chose to stay childless due to career then too they are criticised for being selfish.
Maternity leave cannot be a ground to compare male and female officers.

I wholly agree that women should be allowed to participate in armed forces, so as to ensure parity between men and women.
Here we have to take not that feminism should not be selective. If a female is able to match up the standard then there should not be any hindrance to stop her. But at the same time physical standard should not be lowered. If a jawan is completing 1500 m in 5 min, same entry standards should be for women, or if BPET excellent standard is 25 min , then it should be applicable to everyone. The moment we bring out the fact that a lady is to be given privilege, it doesn't mean we respect the lady, may be we are giving her precedence bcz we think that she is inferior to us. Equality means equality in all aspects, that includes no lowering of standards, no lowering of time duration to make some one CO just to showcase women empowerment, no discrimination in giving away badges ...if this is the case then men will feel that the expectation level from women is low. It is good that women are now being inducted in NDA ,but at the same time difference in training schedule is highly apparent. No one can be a able leader if one is secluded and is selectively participating in activities. Till the time this is the case jawans will never take them seriously since they themselves will not know the difference between strategies and tactics. I will be waiting for the day when best of both the worlds will fight together for the nation and will be equal in all aspects.
