You have left some important aspect: a) linkage with international politics--which way to go for resolving economic crisis, pressure from US, and position of morarji etc; b) movement for separate state of various nationalities, and what Indiara did; c) labour law changes during emergency
I retired from Central service Gr A 15yrs ago. Worked during emergency in the regime of IG. I remember it was truly best time. We rather enjoyed disciplined service with highest efficiency. Judiciary should definitely be more powerful because at once legislature can think of their own benefit but Judiciary is a voice of common people and to keep check whether the government is violating rights common people so Judiciary should take care of it
No judiciary in India is full of nepotism...and that's why judicial reforms which is a very important is being always delayed.... Judiciary has to be independent in making decisions but it has to be responsible for providing detailed information about its decisions which should make sense and must be beneficiary for the country as a whole No need for any body to be the strongest and especially the justice system because it will rather again create a supreme power But the way judicial system of this country has been struggling feels so painful

One error in the program: " on March21, 1977, emergency was lifted and election was declared." But elections were declared on 17th January 1977 after lifting the Censorship only. When Indira Gandhi and her party were defeated, she lifted the emergency on 21st March.

As per the latest understanding gov should not be running companies other than countries strategic areas. Gov has to lay down rules and processes then be the protector / implementer of those . Private companies run more efficiently than gov managed ones

We can talk if there is a level playing field and no ministry interference or political interests. Edit: private players provide services only if it is profitable for them. Rural/hilly areas will never get any services if only private players are involved. Govt/PSUs will provide services even if it isn't profitable for them.

Neither Judiciary nor Legislature should be more powerful than the other. There should be balance of power between all 3 organs of government to ensure smooth checks and balances. If one is more powerful than the other then there's no mechanism left for checks and balances.

I feel, in a democratic country the judiciary should be stronger so that democratic values can be followed effectively. And the police should be under the high courts instead of the state government, this will enable the public order to function without discrimination.

The supreme court on the one hand can declare the parliamentary laws as Unconstitutional through its power of judicial review. On the other hand parliament can amend the major portion of the constitution through its constitution power.

The supreme court on the one hand can declare the parliamentary laws as Unconstitutional through its power of judicial review. On the other hand parliament can amend the major portion of the constitution through its constitution power.
