Thanks Mel, another wonderful video, I love knitting along with you, so bubbly and positive. Thanks for showing mine at the end! Yes it was definitely a journey of emotions for everyone, certainly felt all the tears watching Stephen., but I love this version so much and have learnt to embrace frogging that’s for sure! Mmmm I’m hoping we get a great big gorgeous border along the bottom! I’m calling mine Geogorgeousness! I love it! And yours is too, so stylish and I can see the blue grey tones. By the way the start seam in the knit in the round in clue one also looks different to the others too as you swap from purl to knit in between the markers every round. 🤪
Good Day!! Found you through your comment on the Finnish knitting stories! Love to come and watch new to me podcasts! Mine is still pretty smal but growing. Love your colour choices for the Geo Gradient MKAL ❤
I’m happily cheering on from the sidelines this time. I love seeing the progress of everyone’s shawls. Thanks for sharing- I’m looking forward to seeing them all take shape!
Love seeing Aussies on utube. Your bubbly happy and compassionate self is lovely to see. And the knitting is good too. I frogged a couple of times but in the end am happy with my version, just slight adaptation on the square with stripes of decreasing rows with a single row of my darkest colour providing some definition. Happy to show but don’t do socials.. my loss I suppose. Anyway I’m looking forward to seeing the clue 3s as they appear. Thanks Louise
Thank you so much for sharing! You are definitely hosting a calm corner of the internet. You have a very soothing presence. I love your knitting! I also ended up having a fourth seam that was slightly different from the other three, but it was a bit shorter since I only had four stripes on the outside. I also tried to get mine to match as much as possible, haha, but ended up just making peace with it.
😆 I wonder how many of us were trying to match seams around the world last week 😂 thanks so much and can’t wait to see how yours looks come next week 🤗
Hi Mel, yep I abandoned my modified clue 1 😬🤣 just couldn’t continue….. Israel just broke my heart….what a ride! Added some mohair, as trying to salvage clue 1 yarn was 😱 so hopefully that will help with yarn so I can knit the larger option - I do like a big wrap! He’s been so great and like you said I hope he’s being kind to himself. Let the fun continue. Clue 3 ooohhh…. New techniques for me 💪🏻💃💕
Yes between the referendum, Israel/Gaza and the NZ election things were/are feeling very heavy. Knitting helps! As always! Golly sounds like a lot of work but we’ll all get there in the end 😂 I have a feeling I’ll do the larger version too. We’ll see. Either way it’ll be brilliant and Stephen will see how many people stuck it out with him! 👏 Clue three is a new technique for me too! Not too daunting either 😆 winning!
Great video again - thank you! I love your clues 1 & 2 - it looks fantastic! and it was SO good to see the photos of other's progress. I agree with you about Clue 2 being a relaxing knit, and I was worried about Clue 3 too - but now its out, and I'm doing it, I love it!
Thanks for all of your support 🤗 yes! It’s fun that it’s different but great that it’s not difficult 👏 I’ve got to get my skates on though, I’m knitting a bit slow 🫠
How incredible 👏👏👏 that’s so lovely of you. I hope it doesn’t affect next years, I wasn’t going to do it again next year but I might be wanting to out of solidarity 😆
I had completely finished my modified clue 1 when I found out I wouldn't be able to share it. I thought my color adjustments really solved the issue, and I was happy with my square. I guess all the fun got sucked out of it for me then, so I quit. I'm going to make my square into a groovy pillow and have moved on. I'm casting on the Black Forest Brioche by Kieran Foley to satisfy my desire to challenge myself. Your shawl looks beautiful so far! Looking forward to seeing the rest. 🎉
Hi Mel, it’s Thursday morning and I just finished clue 2! I will agree my perfectionism has always stopped me from doing weave. Stephen. Lol. I am embracing it with this shawl. It was hard! 😂. But it’s perfect. It saves time and life is just to short to be perfect. I love my clue 1 square. I added a pop of a fifth color. It has been a lovely knit. Our squares are filled with love and it feels very special
I love your colors... Third time ripping out was the charm lol... I'm really hoping the next clues really elevate this shawl. The only thing I'm not loving about this shawl is the repeating sides, once I finished the first side of clue 2 I was less excited to repeat it all over again.
Oh dear, three times! What a trooper you are 🤗 that’s amazing. The repeated sections was similar to last year so I guess I was expecting that. I get what you mean though. Happy knitting!
thank you, Mel, I loved seeing all the different clue ones. I actually cannot see your different seam .. I think you did such a great job. mine looks a lot more messy … well… I am just about to finish clue 2 today and hope to Start clue 3 tomorrow. I had a little peek at clue three and I am looking forward to tackle the challenge 😅
I think we all see our own imperfections and never see it in others knitting. Clue three so far isn’t too challenging despite such a unique looking stitch, I’m rather relieved 😅 I hope you are too 🤗
@@Knitty_Mel Yes and yes ☺️ I started yesterday with clue 3 and I also think the pattern is doable... will have to start over again since I git the stitchcount wrong 🤪
I’m on my 4th variant of clue 1! Decided to do a granny square like Finnish knits has done . I’m so so behind but loving it , I will get there, embracing my pace lol 😝
Wow! 4th! 🙃 well done sticking with it! You won’t believe the timing, I’m replying to your comment as I’m watching Finnish Knits talking about her crochet square 😆 I’m in love with it! I think it’ll look so great!
@@Knitty_Mel I’m absolutely loving it and I can’t wait to start clue 2 and I absolutely love clue 3 . Finnish knits is amazing I love her whole attitude to things and her honesty
I love your colors and design. I stuck with the SW last version. I was afraid that I wasn't advanced enough to alter anything. I do like how it turned out, anyway.
Thank you 🤗 yes you’re not alone there! That’s why he made the video, some people need to follow the visual example. I was able to do a modified version that someone else created but it wasn’t as easy. Lots of room for misinterpretation. We’re got through it though! 🤗 thanks so much for watching.
Hi Mel good to see you back. I’m still on Section 9! And stuck to Stephen’s official pivot version 3. Go Team Pivot indeed. I will email my CLUES 1 and 2 when I am done. So fun. Thank you.
just finishing clue 2, I did the first triangle of clue one, and set it aside when asked, I added some extra Grey's in as one of my teals was too mergy.
Sorry I’m only just replying! My Clue one is measuring around 31cm or 12inches square. I think so long as you end up with your 85stitches on each side you should be fine. Have you already moved on to clue 2? Luckily a shawl doesn’t have to ‘fit’ like a garment so it really doesn’t matter 🤗
Your shawl is looking lovely! I didn't bother doing the make one left/right purlwise and I think it looks ok. I've made a start on clue 3 and loving it! Seeing how long I can avoid clue 3 spoilers for :)
Yes I really don’t think M1RP make a difference, cost me a few hours of knitting 😂 I’m loving Clue 3 too! I too haven’t looked ahead yet, still on the first part.
I love your colours! I'm a new knitter. I thought I'd watch the mkal, not expecting to be watching the drama unfold 😂 I didn't like the new square until clue 2 came out. Now it works better to my eye than the original, as does the spiral Also, I thought your intro was nice, but then after recent events in Aus it hits way deeper ❤
Welcome to the knitting world! How much fun is it? And exhausting when you’re learning 😆 Yes, honestly I had to do my intro a few times 😞 it felt so different knowing how Australia voted. I voted yes. I was devastated, I think I live in a ‘yes’ bubble and was shocked. 💛🖤 ❤️
@@Knitty_Mel Ty! I started with socks, so it was a baptism of fire 🤭 I went thru that with Brexit, I felt disgusted with my country. But there are so many reasons why people vote the way they do, misinformation being a very big one 😒 They don't all have hate in their hearts 💞
I’ve just bought the pattern. I think that the square might be the point at the bottom of the shall…rotate the square, so that it is a diamond. I’m hoping the shall will grow from the north east and west sides to create a blast off. From there I hope to see constellations 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
I love your monochrome version! I had done 1 quarter of clue 1 when v2 came out and went on to do a modification of clue 1 and finished that by the time v3 came out. I then took a breather for a few days to figure out how I wanted to proceed with clue 1 as I thought v3 was a bit boring (in hindsight it actually looks perfect with clues 2 & 3). Very happy with the mod I decided on though, which include slip stitches. Oh and I did the m1s purlwise on clue 2. Knitwise didn't make sense to me. But in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it makes a lick of difference either way. :-P My thoughts are still that the shawl will end up as a rectangle somehow.
@Knitty_Mel who knows maybe we're right about the shape! Tomorrow all will be revealed. I also think we might get an extra clue like what happened in one of the previous years.
Mel. I love your colour choices! Beautiful knitting!
Thank you! 😊
Looks fab my first love crocheting enjoy.
I do love the shawl ❤

Total side note to say I love your houseplants! Love that little pilea peperomioides!
Thanks! I love my house plants 🪴 🥰 problem is you can collect them as much as you can collect yarn 😆 love watching your videos 😊
All the shawls are gorgeous. This year MKAL is soo much more simple compared to the past few years.
I agree! I thought Clue three would knock me around but so far so good, I’m not looking ahead though.
Your knitting on the KAL looks so great.
Thanks Heather 🤗

Those radiating squares near killed me. 7 attempts before I threw a right tantrum and decided to just do stripes.
Yes I’ve heard it was fiddly to knit, my friend ended up starting it with DPNs. Stripes will look great 👏
