I know Christian college students that have never heard this song or many other great hymns. All they know is the Hillsong-Bethel-Elevation Church top forty. I heard a song this week that used some of the lyrics from Blessed Assurance but blended in their own. I do not like it when people do that. They have done this with the Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace also. It's almost as if the original songs are not good enough.

I agree, and why is that? When I was a teen and young adult I loved and PREFERRED the old hymns for worship. Strange to me.
