@@grandprime9026 it has nothing to do with vanity, it was a preface of my admiration of the beautiful notes being sung as it's hard for a lot of men who sing bass to match up so well with the other basses as the notes are so deep and robust. There are somewhere in the neighborhood of fifty people singing, and no audience. Why would you need amplification?
I want to hear from the recording engineer. I'm imagining that it was hard to set up to get a unified choral sound.
"I doubt a faster tempo would not have done so well"... You said the opposite of what you meant.
Also microphones were needed. That's how you're listening to the recorded voices.
AMEN!!! The Bethel College Choir was excellent, and the base was absolutely amazing. The singing and recording of this precious hymn in a grain bin was an awesome idea. ✝️ 🎙️🎤🎶🎶
Is this the Bethel College in Mishawaka IN?
One does not even have to be religious to be moved to tears by this...THANK YOU, SIR...
Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
I'm not religious either but here I am with chills!
I felt nothing.
Those bass vocals😱 also I have goosebumps EVERYWHERE, such a rich sound
McKenna Neff if you love bass like me get a load of this!

It’s a singing technique called oktavism, other low singing techniques are growls and subharmonics, those are very popular as well
YES !! I got chill bumps ad big as TEXAS!! Amazing singers nut dont hear that many that young men with that low of bass! AWESOME job to ALL💯🥰
Those Bass vocals were awesome, but I also liked the crickets in there as well!

@@bowinski8645 i’m 9 months late, but this is so cool! thank you for sharing
Great acoustics not to mention great voices! The choir ought to consider an entire CD of grain bin recordings as. a fund raiser!
Absolutely, pure Heaven. This rendition has me craving more Bethel Grain Bin singing.
I'd purchase if they did.
Well... As a Native Kansan, Hutchinson, this is all dear to me. I've sung in bins to bless them many times, and I greatly enjoyed seeing this beautiful song being sung in a fashion most familiar to me
Hutch you say?
@@Blueee51 ahyup, 10+ yrs there
I live in Wichita Kansas and I often have wondered what the sound would be like if I sang in one of these. I am passionate about singing and even sang in WSU's madrigal choir for a couple years, even have videos here on TH-cam! This video made my heart soar.
@@courtneygrier2015
Keep singing and find some locals during Harvest season. Soft and melodic tones are best given the metallic reverberation, shrilly noises will fry a microphone if the sound bounces too hard
Or even old Warehouses and Mills have some buildings with oddly spectacular accustics
@@Its.Daem0n I often sing in the stair case of parking garages...usually vacant and the sound really rings!
Idk how I even got here. My guy started with a trombone. I played that in highschool. I am now a fan.
kaddis01, but my advice to you, sir, is.......NEVER EVER play in a silo!!!!! People generally like to be able to make out the WORDS,........or is that no longer a desire???!!!
Esther Miller 1st of all...not a "sir." 2nd of all...just enjoy it!! I could make out the words fine. Perhaps because I know the song by heart, but I was simply enjoying they sound they were making. Great music isn't always perfect.
kaddis01, please accept my apologies. There was no way I could tell which gender you are. And you are correct in saying music can’t always be expected to be perfect. But I like to be able to understand the words as they are sung. 😉
Esther Miller Why are you telling me tho?!? I didn't record this. I said I like it. Your inability to understand the singers has nothing to do with me. Make that comment on your own. Don't tack it to my post. That's just odd.
They should do an entire album in that silo, it would be a huge seller. Incredible.
Please do ^
I would bet the microphones being used did not even BEGIN to catch to depth of the accoustics. What was caught on the recording however, was awe inspiring.
I built that grain bin!
Cory Sundquist how many bushels does it hold? Job well done.
@@markusayt about 85000 if I remember correctly.
Years ago, I put one together also, helping a farmer neighbor. Kind of a sensory amplification chamber when you stand in an empty one.
U sure made it shiny.good job.
Your grain bins sound real noice!
I taught my granddaughter this song when she was 3 years old. She's almost 8 and we still sing it together.
Maybe they could do an album/CD of choral songs in the grain bin?
I would buy it, definately.
Long as they kept the tempo down. Go to fast and the echos will really get in the way
I do mobile recording... would be happy to record that.
I have an old vinyl album a flute player recorded under the domes of the Taj Mahal in India. IIRC the reverberations last 20 seconds. The music on the album is other-worldly! A similar sound could probably have been had in this bin.
Colloquialize the title: Jes’ Bin Singin’
I an Welsh, and we sing in harmony every day. My heart cried in joy after 1 bar, the rest whooooooaaaah. I entered a other plane of existence!
Lmao we most certainly do not as a general population, that is a phat sweeping generalism
Must have been insane to hear this while actually being there, with the sound echoing all around you
as someone who has sung with a choir in a grain bin before, it is very very cool
I have listened to this multiple times. The sound is so pure. Somehow I can’t help but think this is just a tiny smidge of what it will be like listening to the angels singing in heaven. It’s almost overwhelming. ♥️
Susan Smaltz
And the angels won't be the only ones singing!
Oh yes!
@@downbntout In heaven I will not care my only singing talent is staying on key, I will sing praises at the top of my lungs!

My thoughts exactly!!!! This is truly heavenly!

TH-cam needs a love button for vids like this. Likes just ain’t enough!
While it isn't quite the same, I have a playlist for all of the videos I really liked watching that just liking it wasn't enough
Sooooo good!!
I'll second that emotion.❤️
I can’t compare someone’s mic being in a tin can anymore, cause this actually sounds good 😪🙏
but now
you can tell 'em they need a bigger tin can

I would literally travel all the way there from boston to play my cello inside of that grain bin.
I would love to hear that!! I played the cello a long time ago. Beautiful instrument.
Do it, that would be beautiful
With that length of reverb, they should do rounds and catches.
Wow, it's like you just injected a ton of love into that farm.
This is what I imagine it will sound like when were in heaven worshiping the lord but even more beautiful and amazing
I won't be off key then.
Except it won’t be a handful of people, a thousand people, or even billions of people. It’ll be GREAT MULTITUDES of people! Can’t even begin to imagine what that’ll sound like! 🤗🙏
Ohh I can only imagine!!
Amen!
@@2008romboy it'll sound like heaven! Haha pun intended
Trombone started out at a bit faster tempo but when choir started it was the perfect tempo. wow... no amplification needed. Whoever thought to do this... THANK YOU! What a wonderful collab. I have listened to this on repeat no less than 30 times now.....simply beautiful. Thank you!!!
And Bass..OMG YUUUUUSSSSSS

I want an encore..."Let the Circle be Unbroken"
Well the circle BETTER be unbroken, otherwise the bin will collapse...
I agree!
"Let me empty my 850 tons +, of grain, for an encore"
Yes I love that song!
Do the encore.
A DELIGHT to my ears...and no doubt our LORD SAVIOR ENJOYED it too!
Very interesting you are always coming up with something neat to do on your farm. That had the sound amazing standing there. Hope you have an amazing day
Omg, that sound is beautiful, and those basses were so on point. (Choir girl myself, first soprano) absolutely fantastic!
As one of them, thanks!
@@McPhersonBassMaster of course! I've always loved the sound of a really good bass in a choir. To me, that sound brings the whole choir together and rounds out the sound beautifully.
Oh, i guess those bas notes would not be so amazing if you were not in a choir, yourself?
I guess vanity has to be involved in every aspect of our lives, as a footnote "the pasta dish, was very tasty (having cooked pasta in the past, myself - i also have a selfie of me actually being in the kitchen!)"
Yes, it sounds funny, actually! :)
@@grandprime9026 it has nothing to do with vanity, it was a preface of my admiration of the beautiful notes being sung as it's hard for a lot of men who sing bass to match up so well with the other basses as the notes are so deep and robust. I mentioned that I was a choir girl so that the men knew that I knew how hard they work to create that beautiful, rich, deep sound. So no, it has nothing to so with vanity.
@@grandprime9026 on top of that they are also fighting to hear one another in the highly echoing grain bin and therefore have to be very very in tune to listen for one another. So this is pure admiration, the whole choir was absolutely beautiful.

I had the video and i played this part over and over. So beautiful., the singing and the scene.
Cool movie and quote.j
You know it's good when you get chills all over when you hear it.
Takes singing in the shower to a whole new level! Beautiful!
The chills I got from this video. The harmonies, the sounds, the vocals...it's so angelic and beautiful.
I had to go back to this this morning. I have just started my day with this.
Then I decided to play it just once more before breakfast.
...then just one more time.
...Then again.
Then I got up but came back because you have one bass that hits the bottom so eloquently. I really wanted to focus in on that guy.
Then one more time just for good measure.
At this rate, I will starve for want of breakfast or even a cup of coffee.
They will find my depleted body at my 'puter with my hand at my mouse.
But, to the Bethel College Choir -- what a celestial way to go. A beautiful choir to send me off, and surely one on heaven's side to receive me.
God is profoundly and boundlessly good.
Thank you.
This is such an old man comment and I’m living for it
You could have looped the singing part a few times. That was over way too soon!
Remember everyone, a good choir is an even better team. Each member relies upon each other to practice and care for the music they sing. It's not just the basses, sopranos, etc. it's everyone if any one of those sections were missing, it wouldn't be as fulfilling of a song.
Great voices! Some of the bass guys had a didgeridoo sound. I guess the sides of the grain bin created some cool harmonics. Nice video

To know what a didgeridoo is..you must be Australian. I have one. Probably one of only a few here in the U.S. 😥 I miss Australia .
Absolutely beautiful and heavenly, I am really impressed, I would never have thought that the acoustics of that structure would lend itself to such clarity.
A big word of thanks to all those that participated in this remarkable performance.

Why can't the world be that way? We are a truly foolish species...
I wept with the presence of the Lord. 💞👑
Thank you so much; all of you. It's incredibly touching. Made me cry.
That is really one of the coolest "outside of the box" uses of a grain bin I've ever seen.
I'd love to know who the guy was singing bass with notes clearly heard and dropping down into the cellar with a few of the notes.
Oh man, yes!
Many many musicians around the world will appreciate this natural reverb, lovely singing also, made my day :)
Imagine working at the farm and not knowing they were doing this. And you're having a TERRIBLE DAY because you're going through a tough time. You walk past this this silo and hear this. Bet it would uplift anyone
Well if your church is in need of a spare place it wouldn’t take much to set up some chairs. Probably a fire and brimstone pastor would work best given the acoustics.

How wonderful that sounded! 7 years of plentiful harvest!
How about 9.5 years? Why are we trying to "jew" the farmer? Hehe
This should be a way we bless each harvest. And give thanks to God for blessing us with these gifts.

Every time I watch this I get chills. God is so good.

A beautiful way to bless the work, the grain, and the food that this bin and all the farmers provide for the world!
I love the way he films everything it’s like the office in comedic genius, it’s so unintentional that it’s ironic
May we all simply praise God for allowing this to come together?? Not one of us is guaranteed our next breath nor day, yet He let us in on this blessing.
Great thanks to The Bethel group as well as our farmer/host....

Wow just lovely. Sometimes the most mundane things hide the most extraordinary qualities. Hope they sang more than one song??
A grain silo is mundane?
Grand Prime yeh
You can definitely store seven years of grain to feed Egypt in there!
Pete Smyth Bible joke FTW
I am absolutely speechless. Overwhelmed.
I think it sounded a bit “grainy”! But I’ve been told my jokes are always “corny!” It was “a-maizing” to my “corny ears”

The slow pace of the song made it a natural choice.
The hand holding near the end gave me goosebumps.
And that BASS!!! ❤️❤️❤️
