Ling cod is my favorite hands down deep fried some a couple of days ago, I do a pacific city dory boat fishing trip every year for my birthday we caught three really nice lings.
Paul Schmidt - There’s just something about that fish.. deep fried is pretty amazing. A dory boat trip sounds like fun! Glad you were able to bring some lings home... they are always a treat and fun to catch
A PLUS1000 - thank you! I feel like I got pretty lucky with that lingcod. 90% of my jetty fishing is in that small window with the tides. Thanks for watching
I was out there this weekend for my first time jetty fishing and I caught my first ever black bass on YOUR squid lure! Thanks for helping me enjoy a new experience and catch a new species for me! :)

Adventuring the PNW - I was lucky to get this ling and the couple rockfish. It took me all day to catch them... besides the ling... that was probably my 2nd or 3rd cast! Keep trying, not all days can be good days
Caught a 32" lingcod just past the bar in Nehalem a couple years ago. Grilled it up almost immediately after getting off the water, and I'd say that it was one of the tastiest fish I've ever caught. Put up a hell of a fight, too.

Hey Nick, I made it out to Barview today. It was a very busy day. I was trying out a bunch of new things, which is mentally draining, and fished from twilight thru midday since the tide change wasn't very big. Whew, I'm beat! I caught two medium size black rockfish early on mid-jetty. I released them (and now I'm kicking myself.) Then, because it was so calm, I went and fished the very tippy tip. When I first got out to the tip, I dropped a 6" grub into one of the small holes between the boulders, and instantly hooked a 15" cabezon, so I had to release it. About 10 minutes later, casting, I bagged a 19" cabezon! Yay, dinner. I fished hard for ling, but no luck. I'm still not clear on how frequently ling are caught outside of the spring mating season. A month ago was my first visit to Barview, and I caught a cabbie my first day, and two ling the second. And you just caught one. I keep trying to ask the main guy at the Barview store, but I always seem to miss him. If you ever chat with him, perhaps you can ask him too and post his answer. But I do know that if you put a hook in the water, stuff happens! :-) Btw, have you tried poke-poling? That is so. much. fun!!! It's crazy what you can catch in tiny deep holes.
David M - Thank you! I was lucky to get this fish! Caught it on about my 2nd or 3rd cast then I was struggling to get a bite after that.. still a really fun day on the jetty. I surely can’t complain. It was delicious 🤤
hannyselbak - glad to hear it!! That’s awesome! There’s always a rig for the conditions. The more you know the better. Thanks for watching, good luck out there 🎣
Great video. I'm back in Oregon to visit family and I found your channel looking for steelhead and salmon vids. Been an awesome journey getting back into fishing this year, and this makes me want to try jetty fishing.
housethegrate - I’m glad you found the channel! I love salmon and steelhead fishing and it will always be my favorite but with so many other fisheries out there it’s worth taking advantage of. Salmon and steelhead aren’t the only tasty fish that will put up a good fight, plus it’s nice to switch it up every now and then. Keeps things interesting and targeting different species and learning of new areas and techniques will make you a better fisherman overall. Good luck out there. Thanks for watching. Enjoy your time in Oregon
Hey bro, I'm back in Oregon a second time this month. My friend and I went out to the coast early this morning and fished a river before ending up at the jetty. We didn't catch anything but there's not much better than fishing with an old friend and finding some great spots out in nature. Thanks again for the great videos.
@@housethegrate6093 - welcome back! Catching fish or not, time outside is always nice if you know how to appreciate it. I do so much alone these days. It IS always nice to have some company, especially if it’s an old friend. Glad you are enjoying Oregon
sergeybeast - Thank you, oh man I almost stayed another day but it was so slow and I wanted to get a video out this week. I’m looking forward to getting back out there. Go figure the water is nice today haha. Good luck out there
Rick Green - Thanks! Fresh caught is the best. I am a big fan of the kelp greenling. I will usually keep one of those over the black bass. Easy to handle, easy to cook, and absolutely delicious!
good catch, we fish a lot in WA side, wish to find some difference between here and your location, so like to watch you lot!, keep fish for good harvest!!!
Been watching so many videos on jetty fishing. I guess it’s a sign that we need to give it a try lol. That was an awesome lingcod and looked very delicious 😋
Fishing Webers - haha it must be a sign! You guys have to get out there, it’s a lot of fun. You never know what will be on the end of your line. Lingcod are absolutely delicious. I was really surprised to catch one. I usually just catch black bass, kelp greenling, striped perch, and the occasional random rockfish
Thanks for another great video Nick and bringing some of that good vibe to your fisherman brothers. That lingcod you cooked look and must have tasted fantastic. 😋😋😋How the monkey face eels in that area your fishing .😉😉😃
DAN H - Thanks for watching Dan! That ling was definitely tasty! I love bringing the cast iron with me.. nothing beats fresh caught food. I’m not sure about monkey face eels. I will have to look into that. I see quite a few people fishing for them further south down the coast though. I’m always up for targeting something new to me 😁
Bradley Rojas - halibut is pretty amazing! Best fish taco I’ve ever had was fresh caught halibut up in Alaska. Thanks for the feedback and for watching
Wormdrowner95 SNAG! Haha thank you bro, I appreciate it. For now I will just continue to focus on improving the quality and content and hope everything else just falls into place over time. Fish on
Nick, I am back from another day at the Barview jetty. (Today is Wed., Aug 19.) What a fun trip! I caught another 19" cabezon. Later a monster ling hit like a freight train and almost rip the rod from my hands. But I screwed up. I was experiment with fishing multiple swimbaits, and the leader failed at one of the dropper loops because they're a weak point. I'm not sure if I'll try that again. Ugh. I had my chance. Btw, I spoke to Rick(?) at the Barview store and he said there are resident ling all year, so ... they're waiting for you :-)
xyzct - Thanks for the update!! I’m glad to hear you had a good trip. Oh man that is the bad thing about those dropper loops, it does create a weak spot. So many times when I snag up that rig I end up breaking off at the dropper loop. I think I’m going to look for another knot for that. That’s how we learn though. There are always going to be those fish that get away. The people at barview are so helpful! Ya I think it’s Rick. He will tell you whatever you want to know. I’m happy to hear that the kings are around yearly. I’m always fishing just up off the bottom so I’m sure that’s why I catch more black bass than anything. I think I need to not play it so safe and get down to the bottom more often. I’m hoping to head back to the coast soon, though the salmon fishery is calling my name. I need to find a nice chinook or coho! Thanks again for the update!
When it comes to tastiest fish it’s hard to beat long cod however Kokanee does come damn close. Love the videos bro hope to catch ya on the jetty sometime.
I forget about Kokanee since it’s been so long since I’ve had any, or even fished for them. I plan to this year though. I should be in that area quite a bit this year, keep an eye out for me
Angling Addicts PNW I can’t wait to move out there from Arkansas.. I’ll look you up and catch and cook something with you. Keep up the brilliant videos mate!
PDXFISHING - that’s the thing about the jetty, you never know how it’s going to go. I fished all day and only caught what you see in the video. I’m usually catching that many each hour. That lingcod saved me! Probably wouldn’t have been a video had I not caught it. Thanks for watching bro, hopefully the next time around produces more fish for ya
My Favs to eat are Fresh Salmon with lemon pepper and fresh dill, Trout cooked up with butter and sprinkled with onion soup mix, Cabazon so rich and tastes like crab yummm. A few years ago we went rock fishing in one afternoon I landed 5 Cabazon boy are they fighters!! Couldnt keep any of them that day, wasnt in season lol
Teresa Wise - lemon pepper and fresh dill are so good on salmon! I’ve never tried onion soup mix with trout. I just may have to try that. Cabezon on are definitely a fun fish to catch! And go figure, usually when you catch them it’s not the season for them.
Nice job kid! I learned alot. I wonder if I can implement those baits and your style of fishing off the jetties on the California coast? Stay up Stay safe
Hi Nick, awesome lingcod! Great video! Let me give you a suggestion. Next time you get a lingcod, make a fillet two fingers thick, drop it on the pan wait for 3 mins max, just as the bottom part becomes white, flip it, 3 more mins. Put it on a plate and cover it with paper towel or another plate. Let is sit for 5 mins. Then you eat it. This is my favorite lingcod recipe. Most of the salt water fish get a bit rubbery if you cook it for too long. Actually, not only fish, any sea food really. At least to my taste, I think less is better. It stays super juicy and tender. Try it some day :) Also, I love using twin tail grubs, black color for lingcod and rockfish. At least here in Seattle area they are very effective. I tried using bunch of different colors, but noticed that simple black with twin tail works the best. I think they like that type of vibration as well as clear silhouette of the target. I definitely get fewer misses. Anyways, pleasure to watch your videos as always. Tight lines, bro!
Eugene Gordin - Thank you, this was a fun day. That lingcod made it even better. I will definitely have to try out your method, I’ve never tried doing that before. Black seems to be the go to color. I think it IS that simple silhouette, and any vibration is a good thing. I will have to try doing a video with multiple colors and styles and see what gets hit the most with the given conditions. Thanks for watching and the tips/info!! Much appreciated. Good luck out there
John Raetz - it was a pretty amazing smell! Those shallots really helped add to the aroma. I can still smell it haha. Thanks for watching. I feel like I got pretty lucky with that one
Great day out there! I am heading there in a week or two. I can only hope for half your luck. Ling is definitely up there for white meat fish. One of my favorite fish in general. So gnarly lol
Fish and Forage - I was pretty stoked to get the couple rockfish and that ling. I fished the whole day for those....I also fished for an hour or two during what I’d say is prime time the next day and only caught one fish! I don’t know what was going on but it was incredibly slow.. hopefully you have another successful trip this next time around as well! I love the flaky white meat. Haha they are definitely gnarly fish! I was just showing the carcass to my girlfriend.. the gills are just as dangerous as getting near it’s mouth!
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Yeah! Everything on those fish are pointy or sharp lol Was anyone crabbing? I was out a couple weekends ago and crabbing was pretty good! Maybe that can be my fall-back if fishing is too slow...
Fish and Forage - I did see a few people casting snares but I didn’t notice if anyone was pulling in crab. It sounds like it’s been pretty good. Seen lots of pics of people with big crabs but we are right at that time for them to be molting. I caught some monsters last year just to crack them open and find a tiny amount of meat. I almost brought my kayak and pots. I will have to try out fisherman’s life snares.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Yeah, I got a 7+ incher with Fisherman's Life's snares! Didn't even fit in the scale lol On the jetty he seemed pretty solid, but after cooking and cracking, he was definitely recently molted. Still tasty, though!
Shawn Realty - Oregon Real Estate Company - that ling came on the second or third cast but man did I have to really put in the work for the rest of the day. I wasn’t ready for that lingcod and definitely wasn’t expecting it. I always say, you never know when or what will be on the end of your line. Any cast could be the one 🎣
That's going to make for a very nice dinner with that big fat Lingcod...! One of these days... I'll have to meet up with you, .. Nick...and do a bit of catch and cook... I'll show you a few different methods of cooking the fish you like to catch and eat... ✌️👍😃
J Aaron - I was really surprised to see it was a lingcod.. I have fished here so much and caught everything else. It was a delicious fish. One of these days.... I’m always last minute decision and on the move so much it’s always hard to make outside plans but I will get into the groove one of these days and it’d be nice to link up
Best fish i ever had was halibut cheeks i was working up in alaska in one of the salmon canneries and one of the boats brought them in to process and the dock supervisor gave them to us for busting our ass that day so good!!!
Wormdrowner95 SNAG! I’ve never had the cheeks but heard they were amazing. Hopefully I will get a chance one of these days. Oh man I love halibut! It’s almost a tie with lingcod. Something about Alaska. The best halibut I had was there.. made for a killer fish taco. Nothing has even come close to comparison. That’s awesome that you guys got hooked up!
Corey Arendt - I think I need to do a black bass catch and cook. I’ve caught so many but have yet to do catch and cook with them. They are quite tasty as well
Great catch & cook, that was a nice fish. Lol.... Si Nick, perfecto! Hands down cod is my favorite. I’m half cuban so grew up eating bacalao (cod dish) a lot . So delicious 🤤! If you’ve never had bacalao it’s a must try - at least once. Top it w/🥑! It’s harder to find authentic cuban restaurants up in the PNW, but if you happen to find one it’ll be a very flavorful cod dish.
Stephanie Navarro - thank you Stephanie! Catching that lingcod made my day. I have fished there so many times and have caught all kinds of fish but never a ling. Being that it’s my favorite fish, I will have to keep the authentic Cuban restaurant in mind and see if I can find bucalao.... if not I may just have to look it up and see if I can do it myself lol... avocado is delicious on everything!! Haha
Angling Addicts PNW - it was a great catch. That slab of meat was nice and made for a nice meal. It looked delicious, you actually made me hungry... lol...but I had to settle for burrito 🤷🏻♀️
Whan to say thanks to you for the great videos and tips how to hook up at the jetty . I went to Westport and got 6 huge sea bass and 1 lingcod . First time using the uni not silly Sally Green and red flake grub.
Michael Workman - Thank You for watching. That’s awesome to hear you had some luck at Westport, sounds like it made for a good day of fishing.. ah the good ol uni knot. I use it quite often
The night time is the right time! It's an awesome sight to be out there when the fish start boilin! 😁 I use the Berkeley gulp shrimp It's like fish crack but unfortunately crabs love it too! 🤣😅💩 Don't let them sit on the bottom too long
Joey Watts - I love fishing at night! It can get crazy out there. Berkeley makes some good baits.. definitely fish crack lol.. I just lost my high low rig to crab.. little turds
Asher Wren - I don’t do a whole lot of night fishing so I couldn’t be too sure... but with their poor eyesight in mind, it may make it easier to catch them at night if you get bait anywhere around them. I’d imagine they’d be the type to strike at anything that gets in their space.
Nick, when I fish Barview, I tend to crank down on the drag because if a big ling clamps on, I don't want to give it a chance to get into a hole, because once they do and flare out those fins, they ain't budging. Btw, I think I'm heading out there tomorrow. Thanks for creating FOMO ;-)
xyzct - I usually have mine set to handle a decent sized fish but not a ling since I’ve never caught one on the jetty in all my years of fishing it, and they definitely have some fight in them. It took me by surprise for sure. I tightened the drag again and it still made a run. Man are they fun to catch. I’ve had to wait out some nice fish but there are even more that got into the rocks and weren’t budging.... no bueno haha. Good luck if you make it out there tomorrow. If so, let me know how it goes.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW, I remember someone mentioning that if a ling gets into the rocks, keep tension on the line, and keep plucking or strumming it. Apparently the vibration annoys them and they try to move to another hole, giving you a chance. Anyway, nice ling! Damn they're yummy!!
Dale Flanders - thanks, ya I was really surprised. I know they get caught here every now and then but I’ve fished here a LOT and never found one myself. I was even happier to see it was a good sized one as well. Cool looking fish and delicious! Thanks for watching
Dan M - in all of my years of fishing that jetty and this is my first lingcod there. I caught it second or third cast. I wasn’t even all setup for filming yet lol. I was pleasantly surprised to find this fish on the end of my line
Another great video pal... Just in time for the 14th August 2020 opener at Social Security beach fishing.. Lets hope the Salmon & Coho are there for you this year....
Maurice Brown - Thank you Maurice! This was another fun one to put together. I can’t wait to get out and start doing some salmon fishing again!! It’s all I’ve been thinking about lately. I’m crossing my fingers for a successful season. I’m planning on putting in more time this time around so hopefully that means more video. Thanks for watching
Badass bud!! Looks like a tasty meal right there!! Fort stevens just opened up gotta check that place out this year chinnook retention is until the 27th any pointers on lure selection and location would be appreciated 👊😀🎣🎣🎣🎣
Michael Elkins - thanks bro! It was quite delicious. I saw things will be opening up. I will send you a message today. I didn’t fish down there until September when chinook was over but I’m pretty sure I’d approach it the exact same way as last year. I will be in touch
Chris Jensen - my buddy kept a few from a Shad fishing trip a while back and he said it was pretty good minus the bones as well. I may have to try it one of these days but they are such a slimy and stinky fish..
@@AnglingAddictsPNW I think I'm gonna be heading to the coast this weekend. Wish me luck with my jigs and plastics. Hopefully I can cook up some bass in some salted butter on Sunday 🤤
Chris Jensen - good luck this weekend! Let me know how it goes. Some bass sounds tasty. I haven’t cooked one up in quite some time now. I’ve almost forgotten how delicious they are.
I got skunked, but we picked up some super nice eggs at a hole in the wall tackle shop near there and I got some wet flies to try and fish with. Maybe next time I'll head out to the jetty earlier.
Chris Jensen - ahhh they can’t all be good days. It’s something I have to constantly remind myself. At least you were able to pick up some eggs and flies!! Hopefully the next trip produces some fish for ya. With jetty fishing you never know how it’s going to go 🤷♂️
Andrea Mace - I haven’t made my plan yet but I will definitely be out fishing for salmon as much as possible. Hopefully I have another good season. And Thank You so much, I appreciate it. It can be a lot of work at times but I love sharing the experiences and as much of what I know as possible
Nice ling man! Got my first day off in three months on Sunday I think I’m going to hit up the jetty, I don’t usually throw those swim baits what did you say they were called again?
Elijah Vanspeybrock - thanks man! I was pretty surprised to see it was a ling. Those were Keitech swing baits (yes swing) there is a link in the description that will get you going in the right direction for ideas. I couldn’t find the exact 4” ones that I was using.. good luck if you go! 🎣
I have not, though I know they'd work. I fished for bass in lakes before I started jetty fishing, so my approach has always been one more of using plastics, and if I'm using bait it's almost always sand shrimp. It's worked for me so I never branched out much from there.
V8RAMBO - the rod I was using for everything besides that little kelp greenling was an 8’6” Shakespeare Ugly Stik, medium action with a pflueger President pressp40. I’ve been happy with that setup. I was using that to pull those lingcod up the cliff in another video. Ugly stik is known for strong rods and that’s what you need. You could always go longer if you wanted or needed.. and they are affordable, so is that reel.. I beat my stuff up and those take the abuse
V8RAMBO that would totally work. I originally used my salmon/steelhead baitcasting rod all the time on the jetty but it got stolen. Just be sure to rinse it off really good to get all the saltwater off it so it doesn’t cause you issues when you get a nice salmon on. No need to buy new stuff when you can just dual purpose what you already have
Nice fish. I got a small ling last week. Believe it or not he came up with a big female dungee in my crab trap. Crazy to see that. They both happily went back. What's your blade?
By slack tide, do you mean low tide? I tried at high tide a couple times but the sea is way too angry and I needed heavy weights to get to the bottom. Thanks!
I do keep them every once in a while. I think the last time I did was for the fish tacos video with a greenling and black bass. I definitely throw more back than I keep
You should have a 100k subs by now. Awesome video.
Jonathon H - Thank you 🙏 hopefully one of these days lol. Thanks for watching! This was a fun one to do

When the water is murky like that put on a dark colour swimbaits so they see the silhouette better. Great vid

sergeybeast - Thank you, oh man I almost stayed another day but it was so slow and I wanted to get a video out this week. I’m looking forward to getting back out there. Go figure the water is nice today haha. Good luck out there
Have you fished the Colombia river south jettie, trying to explore some new spots??
Great jetty lingcod and another great video.
Birdgrabber Man - Thank you, this fish definitely took me by surprise
Nice ling! Cooking fresh like that has to be the absolute best. Kelp greenling is my fav.
Rick Green - Thanks! Fresh caught is the best. I am a big fan of the kelp greenling. I will usually keep one of those over the black bass. Easy to handle, easy to cook, and absolutely delicious!
You own them fish bro!! Keep doing what you're doing!!
William Boyd - haha thank you! This was another fun day on the jetty. Thanks for watching
good catch, we fish a lot in WA side, wish to find some difference between here and your location, so like to watch you lot!, keep fish for good harvest!!!
Amazing catch! Good job Bro....
Moto-B - thank you, I was surprised to find that ling on the end of my line.. definitely made my day
I live in south FL and hands down my favorite fish is hog snapper! Would love to try the cod!!
Angling Addicts PNW awesome. We have a trip coming up to Garibaldi, we’ll see what we can catch there : )
Walleye, crappie, Halibut, Ling’s, Tuna (Raw)......few of my favorites..
Moto-B - that’s a delicious list of fish right there 👨🍳
Walleye in shorelunch batter hands down the best tasting fish ever
I'm fishing the Westport jetty this weekend, I hope I have the same success you did. Bro, love the content, thanks
Chainsaw Miller - thanks for watching and good luck on the jetty this weekend! Let me know how it goes
Have fun!
I’m always up for targeting something new to me 😁
I have to agree. Ling cod is the best with walleye bringing up a close second place.
Great video...my favorite fish is fresh caught California halibut... nothing like it, yuuuummmmm
Bradley Rojas - halibut is pretty amazing! Best fish taco I’ve ever had was fresh caught halibut up in Alaska. Thanks for the feedback and for watching
Watching your vids makes me want to go surf fishing. I live in WA. maybe I'll see you on the beach one day. oh I will subscribe.
Great video bro the subs will come with time "If you film it they will come"🤣😎 fish on brother!!
Wormdrowner95 SNAG! Haha thank you bro, I appreciate it. For now I will just continue to focus on improving the quality and content and hope everything else just falls into place over time. Fish on
Hey Nick. Nice job. Good fishing!!!
Rick Zollman - thanks rick! Overall it was a slow day but I was just expecting the typical day at the jetty. The lingcod was a nice surprise
Living the life. So envious
Earl Larson I don’t have many complaints :)
When it comes to tastiest fish it’s hard to beat long cod however Kokanee does come damn close. Love the videos bro hope to catch ya on the jetty sometime.
I forget about Kokanee since it’s been so long since I’ve had any, or even fished for them. I plan to this year though. I should be in that area quite a bit this year, keep an eye out for me
The flip flop master at it again!
Rick Knight - haha you know it! Thanks for watching man. I think it’s about time for some salmon fishing now
Angling Addicts PNW I can’t wait to move out there from Arkansas.. I’ll look you up and catch and cook something with you. Keep up the brilliant videos mate!
Rick Knight - sounds good man, thanks!
Great video, Nick!
zqchen1 - thank you! Catching that lingcod made my day
Nicd video! I was just out there this morning, not as much luck for me this time tho. Nice catch & cook!
I agree with you lings are the best.
Good luck out there
I could almost smell it, nice job.
John Raetz - it was a pretty amazing smell! Those shallots really helped add to the aroma. I can still smell it haha. Thanks for watching. I feel like I got pretty lucky with that one
Excellent video 👍 I enjoyed.
Thank you, this was a pretty fun day
Great day out there!
You make it look so easy, man!
So very philosophical.
Beautiful lingcod. 👍
River Right Outdoors - thank you! It was a nice surprise. I love those fish
I’m always last minute decision and on the move so much it’s always hard to make outside plans but I will get into the groove one of these days and it’d be nice to link up
Thanks for sharing. 👌
Love your vids!
Yeah, ling cod is up there, but swordfish. I haven't caught any myself, but it's my "go-to" fish if I see it on the menu at a seafood restaurant. :-)
Hell yeah! Looks 😋 😋
I absolutely love lingcod! hopefully i have as much luck this year as i did last year
Best fish i ever had was halibut cheeks i was working up in alaska in one of the salmon canneries and one of the boats brought them in to process and the dock supervisor gave them to us for busting our ass that day so good!!!
My favorite fish to eat is Lingcod Because they are very good to eat and black rockfish is a nother one of my favorites to
Corey Arendt - I think I need to do a black bass catch and cook. I’ve caught so many but have yet to do catch and cook with them. They are quite tasty as well
Boat horns in the background for the win. Bin appetite.
Stephanie Navarro - haha, nothing wrong with a burrito!! That was a nice slab of meat
Thank for getting back to me. Ianm planning a trip back to the jetty soon. I was looking for the anchovy swim bait you was using on the one video.
Michael Workman - were you able to find the swimbaits?
No but i did find something like it but it don't look like the one you had.
Best tasting fish ever believe it or not bluegill you don’t have to put anything on it and it taste amazing by far best fish, my opinion
Do you ever find Lings at night?
It seems like they would be night hunters? But I hear they actually have pretty poor eyesight...
Asher Wren - I don’t do a whole lot of night fishing so I couldn’t be too sure... but with their poor eyesight in mind, it may make it easier to catch them at night if you get bait anywhere around them. I’d imagine they’d be the type to strike at anything that gets in their space.
The rockfish really crack off at night if you can get into a good school of them...
Great video
mike miller - thank you. I always enjoy doing the coastal fishing videos.
Lingcod are my favorite
Darn it I just ate but you're making me hungry :D
Lol this was a fun video to make. I can’t wait to get back out there!
I'm really hoping to catch my first keeper lingcod and/or cabazon this year
Nick, when I fish Barview, I tend to crank down on the drag because if a big ling clamps on, I don't want to give it a chance to get into a hole, because once they do and flare out those fins, they ain't budging.
Damn they're yummy!!
hey keep up the good content
short fisherman chris - Thank You! I will do my best!
That's a nice lingcod
Dale Flanders - thanks, ya I was really surprised. I know they get caught here every now and then but I’ve fished here a LOT and never found one myself. I was even happier to see it was a good sized one as well. Cool looking fish and delicious! Thanks for watching
Dang never got a long yet. Making it look easy
@@AnglingAddictsPNW right on thanks nick!!👊😀
Catfish oooohhhh yyeeaaahhh yummy!!
awesome!
Salvador Rosales - Thank You 🙏
This is the second video of yours that says "this is my first ling cod".
Lightnin Hopkins - in this video I said it was my first ling from that jetty
@@AnglingAddictsPNW ok, my mistake
Ling cod by far is the best tasting off the Jetty. Great stuff as usual!
EL CONDUCTOR - Thank you! There are a couple fish that come close but lingcod gets the crown 👑
My favorite, so far, is shad. Believe it or not, shad is freakin delicious!! Just gotta get the bones out 🙃
Chris Jensen - my buddy kept a few from a Shad fishing trip a while back and he said it was pretty good minus the bones as well.
With jetty fishing you never know how it’s going to go 🤷♂️
Great video! And get yourself a net 😂
Thanks! Lol I never bring a net when I’m fishing the jetty…. I probably should 🤔
En qué lugar estabas pescando muy lindo tu programa te veo desde Buenos Aires
Are you going to head up to the Columbia Bank fish for salmon love your videos my favorite on TH-cam keep up the good work😁🤙❤️
Andrea Mace - I haven’t made my plan yet but I will definitely be out fishing for salmon as much as possible.
have you ever used pile worms as bait off the jetty?
I have not, though I know they'd work. I fished for bass in lakes before I started jetty fishing, so my approach has always been one more of using plastics, and if I'm using bait it's almost always sand shrimp. It's worked for me so I never branched out much from there.
Hey partner, what's your setup for Rod and Reels? Either baitcast or Spinning. It looks like your basically using a Salmon/Steelhead setup.
Nice Fishin. What kind of Rod were you using or whats good for jetty fishing have a Pflueger Supreme 35 and want to get a jetty setup
Thanks ill look into them and i also have some lamiglas redline 9’6” and abu garcia revo i use for salmon in wa those would work well too?
V8RAMBO that would totally work. I originally used my salmon/steelhead baitcasting rod all the time on the jetty but it got stolen. Just be sure to rinse it off really good to get all the saltwater off it so it doesn’t cause you issues when you get a nice salmon on. No need to buy new stuff when you can just dual purpose what you already have
I love barview.
It definitely has it's good and bad days. I've been fishing further south lately but look forward to getting back out here!
Nice fish. I got a small ling last week. Believe it or not he came up with a big female dungee in my crab trap. Crazy to see that. They both happily went back. What's your blade?
I fish in Northern California and that's a baby lingcod where I fish_😁
Man WTF???? I want some cod!!!!!
I've yet to catch a ling but I do love me some vermillion fillets
Still sounds delicious!!.. keep at it, you are bound to come across a ling sooner or later
Hey man, new to jetty fishing. What size of those gulp grubs do you use? And does is change when targeting lingcod vs rockfish?
4”, he mentioned it in a comment above, I had the same question.
By slack tide, do you mean low tide? I tried at high tide a couple times but the sea is way too angry and I needed heavy weights to get to the bottom. Thanks!
Mark Zeidan - I just noticed this was the same comment as below... hopefully my answer made since. Let me know. Good luck out there
Just wondering: why don't you keep bass? I'm mostly freshwater angler, looking to get in to some salt soon.
I do keep them every once in a while. I think the last time I did was for the fish tacos video with a greenling and black bass. I definitely throw more back than I keep
I think Sandabs are particularly good
