    I wonder if Everton didn’t equalise in the last minute (which was a sloppy goal to concede), and Liverpool won 3-2, would Dalglish still have resigned when they were top of the league?
    Arsenal went on to overtake them without Dalglish and win the title

    If he had not resigned that night he would have at the end of the season. The team was leaking goals. Arsenal conceded twenty less that season. He was unable to do anything to stop the decline in performance. The unwanted consequence of his decision to quit was the arrival of Souness and his ruinous reign thereafter.
