      I’m still stuck on on the sliding automatic doors. There’s no handle for me to confidently grab, and even if there was one I would have trouble reaching it in time while staying professional.
      I’ve tried being quick and using a similar method to the classic Wild West saloon door style, but that on resulted in the doors on the ground, broken glass everywhere and everyone staring at me. Somewhere a baby was crying and in the distance I heard sirens.

    An instruction from 1979! I was 10 years old at the time living in the Netherlands. Mind you: internet was just not common at these days! Imagine how my life could have been seeing this Finnish instruction video. For 55 years I have been doing it wrong, disappointing my family who has to live with the embarrassment. All the injuries that could have been prevented, the loss of lives...I realise now that I could have lived a normal life. I am ashamed of myself.
    On the bright side: I can change! Watching this video will ultimately get my life back on track, and I promise that I will not rest until EVERYBODY has taken notice of this life changing instruction video. You can count on that.

      This educational video was a blessing and a life-saver to me. Just minutes ago, I was quickly hurrying to my living space after paying respects to my great grandfather Alfred Einstein when I ran into a door! A solid yet gorgeous mahogany door that very clearly was made by s true master craftsman with absolute passion. After spending about an hour admiring the work of art, I realized... I had no idea how to open the door! My breath was taken away after witnessing just how complicated and unearthly the contraption was! It truly felt like I was in Mars, as I was not sure how to activate it. After a few more minutes of preparing myself, I held my breath and tried opening it, but when I turned what I believe they call a "doorknob" and slowly pushed it open, I quickly slammed it shut, feeling the entire universe beginning to completely split in half. I searched for a few more hours on how to open a door when I came across this! I was so lucky that I did, and despite only knowing the Finnish words "kuka seia olvet", it was like I spoke this man's language perfectly, and once I performed the action exactly like how the good gentleman did, I made it inside without anyone dying or getting hurt! I truly am indebted to those who contributed to this film, and I am willing to save their lives when it comes to it.

You see, once i open a door that behaves like the one in the video, i can easily get through ... but then im basically locked behind it until some more experienced door opener comes along that knows how to handle pull doors that have their hinges on the right. Then there are push door with hinges on the left, and even pull doors with hinges on the left. I can only master 1/4 of all doors. And that only in one direction ... i feel so unprepared

  • @SlippinGibby

    If you’re having difficulties in getting this technique down I suggest an easier variation which involves opening the door fully, letting go of the handle, walking in, then once both feet are through the door way you can turn and firmly grasp the door handle. If you are feeling extra lucky, you can even do a finishing move called “Closing the Door” which involves pushing the door away from you in a similar fashion as you pushed it open. If you can fully get this technique you can begin to move onto even harder techniques and soon you’ll be a professional in no time.

    • @SlippinGibby
      @SlippinGibby 3 ปีที่แล้ว +65

      Honestly tho, I would shell out the money for proper lessons. They cover everything: doors that open toward you, doors that open away from you, doors with the handle on the left side, sliding doors, double doors, automatic doors... I've never been so prepared to open doors in my life.

    This smooth and swift technique is extremely important to learn in finland. If you enter sauna in any other way, keeping the door open longer than is absolutely necessary, you will be denounced for letting the heat escape. If executed perfectly, the effect of entry is almost unnoticeable even during intense heat.

Most doors in Finland nowadays open outside, so instead of pushing you need to pull to open the door. I think we need another updated video about how to open this new kind of door.

    A great example of classical Finnish humor:
    - dry
    - meta
    - appears serious
    - self-ironic
    - an attempt to do a thing right, to avoid a possible embarassing situation, while in fact creating another, even more embarrassing situation (I'd say the majority of Finnish humor is one or another way based on embarrassment and especially second-hand embarrassment)
    - you're still wondering if they were serious or joking
