I just retired after 45 years of this work. You guy did a great job. Great idea for the buggy, with the flapper. Good thinking putting that 20" grove at the top of the steps. When I'm pinning to exciting slab if there is a hairline on it I will put the groove there if it is close to the other panels.

Beautiful job. A little trick we like to do to save on concrete as well as weight is to use 5/8” drywall since it’s rock anyway. And space it away from your wall forms with sacrificial 2x6s every foot or less if needed. Then it can be backfilled with stone against the back of the drywall. As the concrete is placed in the void where the 2x6 is the boards can slowly be lifted and taken out leaving the 6” wall. Just an idea. Thanks for the videos.
Nice work. I particularly appreciated the way you styled that recessed end into a very attractive classic style. We use an awful lot of concrete over hear in the uk, (partially because we’ve always had a massive amount of gravel available) and also because our codes require very deep footings and piles etc…However I admire the care that you and the team put in to your work.👍🇬🇧

You are 1 in a 100. Very rare to find a crew that cares about not doing collateral damage to the yard. Most crews will gladly destroy it for you while doing the new work. THIS IS VERY RARE or a youtube only deal.

I always wondered how a an inlay was put into a concrete siding on some steps or other such structures that we see in our daily lives and it’s something that I always wanted to see myself as it does make for an interesting conversational piece. Until next time TaRa for a bit.
I like that inset detail, nice work. I live in Central PA and want to do a similar project. I want to pour 4' steps centered on a floating pad patio 18' wide (the top riser would be under the pad). Any issues with the steps heaving and cracking the pad? Thanks

Tom, was there an issue with the strip of original concrete floor that was left in place that would have made it expensive to replace or was it just homeowner choice? Your attention to detail is what's lacking in the trades today, really enjoy the videos.
What is not on video was an hour conversation trying to convince them to take that front porch out sometimes it is just up to the homeowner thanks for watching
would have looked better without the "picture frame" as it looks very crooked. I realize that is because the porch slants so the water will run off into the grass and not against the house. But the design highlights the fact that it's not straight. Would have been better if left plain.
The concrete had fall on it so the water would drain away from the house. It was square with the brick/house tho. Good question and thanks for watching!
If it is plain concrete used master protect 400 if it’s decorative we use a Butterfield clear guard don’t forget the traction control thanks for watching

Highly recommend you invest in some radius step tools,top tool, bottom tool,the finish comes out much nicer than just using an exgert...

We use them it wasn’t a lot of concrete to justify a pump
