    I’ve got the SP model, with 1500 miles on. I’ve had no issues with cutting out whatsoever! The bike has been perfect.

      Glad to hear it Tim. It seems to only effect some bikes and only some of the time. With mine, it only happened at the start of running in and has not happened for a while so I can only hope it was some teething problems that will not occur again, fingers crossed.

    My 2021 MT09SP has cut out a couple of times like you describe, but it was in D-Mode 2 or less. I have been riding in D mode 1 all the time now and not had it happen again. Could be co-incidence, but since D-mode presumably changes the fuelling/throttle map maybe it does make a difference. Some people saying it happened on their bike and some saying no issues could mean it affects only some bikes but I'd think it's more likely either riding technique/style or d-mode setting that causes it on any bike

      Thanks for the feedback regarding the engine cut out. From all the comments, it seems to happen in a certain situation (slow, just coming to a stop and dipping the clutch) but the reason is still tricky to diagnose because it doesn’t happen;all the time and doesn’t happen to everyone. Other than that, I hope you are enjoying the bike. Cheers

    The cut-out problem kind of sounds like a too lean fuel mapping issue to meet euro5 emission reg's. I have a 2022 on order so if mine ever stalls out on me I look into an exhaust/air filter/map flash in hopes of resolving that issue. Thinking now I should have ordered a 2022 GXS S1000...

    got the same cutting out problem, always when slowing and approaching a junction. When I had first service they couldnt find anything on computer.

      Thanks for letting me know. It does seem to be an issue yet to be explained. I haven’t had the first service yet but I don’t expect any revelations from the diagnostics system when I do. Hopefully as the bike runs in, this issue doesn’t happen again for any of us.

    Yes, mine cut out today for the first time , 500 kms on the clock, was just going slowly through town on steady throttle, maybe 20 kmph. I have read reports of cutting out while stopped at lights on an MT 09 forum. Very strange, and a little worrying. Mine also seems to get very hot when riding slowly in town , 1st / 2nd gear. Rises very quickly from 80 ish to 105/110. Anyone else ?

      Thanks for your update... Hmm.. It seems Yamaha need to sort something out and give us an explanation regarding this sporadic engine cut out issue. My bike is yet to have it's first service but I will certainly mention it to the dealer again and see if they come up with any answers.

      @@thetallbiker9645 It has happened for me as well. Only 2 times though - i have done almost 8000 km now, it hasn't happened for a long time.. Agree on the fuel gage. But despite that it is really a perfect bike. I love mine! :D

      @@misanoracing8637 Thanks for your comment Jesper. The engine cut out seems to have happened to quite a few people but not that often. It’s hard to hold a grudge to the bike as it rides so well apart from that issue. The same with mine, it has not cut out since the beginning. Ride safe. Cheers

    Thank you for this video. I am considering this bike for 2up riding with my wife and I’m really concerned about the issue with the engine cutting off from a stop or at low speeds. If you are able to replicate the problem, I hope you can catch on video how this scenario is triggered. Thanks again!

    • @thetallbiker9645
      @thetallbiker9645  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chris. The engine cut out only seems to happen rarely and I have not been able to replicate it to help diagnose the problem but I will certainly upload a video if I do. Cheers

    • @thetallbiker9645
      @thetallbiker9645  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment Connor 👍. Glad you haven’t had any issues, it does seem to be a relatively common issue which is a bit of a worry but there seems to be no explanation, it is intermittent and doesn’t effect every bike which makes it tough to diagnose.

  • @snakeoil2182

    They have a recall on the stalling issue. Have you taken the bike to the dealership? If so did it fix the issue?

    I had the same problem with the engine cutting out at slow speed approaching roundabouts, only happened twice early on and its been good since.
    As for the indicators if you dropped the bike and the indicators hit the floor they wouldn't break or snap as if it was a solid connection, pain in the arse if they did pop out but easier to pop back in compared to previous model. Other than that what a bike 🏍 👍

    • @thetallbiker9645
      @thetallbiker9645  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment Martin. I’m relieved to hear it wasn’t just me who experienced the engine cutting out. I’m guessing it’s due to the nature of the lean tune of the engine combined with a new, tight engine that tips it over the edge into stalling. I’m hoping once run in, it will run more free and settle. I see the idea behind the indicators but at least they could have designed them to pop back in place as easy as they came out but, all things considered, it’s a cracking bike. Glad you’re enjoying yours too. Cheers

      @@thetallbiker9645 does the screen you have make a difference with everyday riding.

      I am 6,2 tall 34 inch inseam , 97 kg , will i be comfortable on the bike ,and does that screen throw the wind off your chest ,and possibly your helmet.
      How does the new sxr 900 yamaha compare ?

    • @thetallbiker9645
      @thetallbiker9645  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding the Givi screen, I would say the difference is subtle but the improvement is a maybe 15-20% improvement at dispersing the wind but I have not ridden the bike at high speed yet. It does not create any extra turbulence or force the wind towards my crash helmet and it also helps protect the instruments from the elements so I would say a worthy addition.

    • @thetallbiker9645
      @thetallbiker9645  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@warrenventer Hi Warren, I have left a comment regarding the screen here 👍. The new XSR900 looks interesting, if I hadn’t already bought the MT09, maybe I would have looked at that. It looks like they have added more segments to the fuel gauge, I think it has a 15 litre tank and it has cruise control and a nice Brembo lever and front brake cylinder which are all great things but the price is yet to be revealed so it would all rest on that. The MT09 was just such good bang for the buck and I would estimate the XSR price to be at least £700 more but I’m very interested to see how Yamaha price it. Cheers

    Hi there!
    I remembered you're the guy who used the washer to fix the wobbly brake reservoir.
    I can see in the video you used it's just a simple washer, any particular size i should look out for?

    • @thetallbiker9645
      @thetallbiker9645  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for your comment. I'm not sure the exact size as it was one of those things that I already had from a while ago but I will get the details or share in another video.

    • @thetallbiker9645
      @thetallbiker9645  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I had a quick check on the washer and it's just around 1.5 mm thick (just enough to take out the play/excessive movement) and the inner hole just has to be the size of the bolt. I had it laying around but you can get packs of various sized rubber washers on eBay or a hardware store. Hope this helps.
