Honda Hornet 750 - First Ride - with some comparisons
These are my first thoughts on a test ride with the new Honda Hornet 750, mainly to see how the quick shifter works with this engine. I have also previously tested the Honda XL 750 Transalp which I really liked but had no quick shifter fitted, the Suzuki GSX-8s and the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE which I mention some comparisons to.

    A safe motorcycle, with a central support, kickstarter - something that is not currently put on many bikes. Easy to service. This motorcycle was created by engineers, not marketers.

    I'd suggest your dealer bears some degree of responsibility for not solving problems. If you had access to a specialist shop with real expertise and that tenacity that exists in people that live and breathe their speciality your problems would have been solved through sheer determination to resolve issues. These kinds of professionals don't give bikes back unless they know they have nailed the problem.

    I bought the Tracer 9 GT in 2021 brand new. Days after getting it the indicator popped out, so put it back in, then one day when I was riding I hit a pot hole and noticed the light had popped out again. The only problem was it has snapped the plastic it was seated in. I took the bike back to Yamaha as it was only months old and they basically refused to replace it! They stated I must have been to aggressive putting it back. I challenged them stating that it shouldn't be coming off when riding in the first place but it fell on deaf ears. I don't know about the MT-09 but the indicator on the Tracer 9 GT is connected to the whole front headlamp cluster and they said it would cost over £1300 to replace. The bike is due to go back soon (PCP), and I won't EVER be buying one again. Shame because this was my 3rd Tracer/MT but it's put me off for life.

    How tall are you? I’m 6’2 and think it might be on the edge? I found the triumph trident to be the most comfortable mid sized bike so far, and the CB650R quite cramped- wouldn’t like to be on it for a couple of hours!

    Original confort seats are just a bit better. If you look confort you have bagster, shad and more afordable jn seats wich is Portuguese and its like bagster but some are in waterproof leader and you can change. Foam is viscoelastic in all them.

    Thank you for your take on the KTM. I truly understand as. I a Peugeot also made in China and while a brilliant car to drive, has countless problems from leaky hoses to a/c glitches to gearbox issues. The 5 year warranty helped defray costs but it’s now 6 years old and anything that needs fixing from now is on my money. Fingers crossed need to get another car but the resale value is awfully low. So made in China , pls be aware of their hit and miss QC.

    I'm 6'4" and 100kg and I love my CB650R. I think if you spend a lot of time around town then maybe get something with more low end torque but if you like to go to the twisties then this bike really comes alive. Once you get it into the power band it hauls arse and the chassis/suspension is really good too. I have heard that the MT09 chassis/suspension/brakes are pretty crap which seems to be a recurring theme for Yamaha. Great engines, everything else is a bit meh.

    • @thetallbiker9645
      @thetallbiker9645 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the 650 is definitely more happy up in the revs. The MT-09 from 2021 chassis and suspension are a massive improvement over the previous models and the brakes are good but could feel better, I think it’s up to Yamaha’s abs system which dulls the performance somehow. Glad you’re enjoying the 650R 👍

      @@Mortiferous89 I’m very comfy. If I ride longer distance I can get a sore butt/lower back but I’ve always had lower back problems so I don’t think it’s the bikes fault. Overall I absolutely love this bike. It’s fantastic.
