Their best song by a mile
This song is a masterpiece. Try reviewing songs like Notorious and Skin Trade from them. Totally different vibes from their Notorious album. My preferred album of theirs.
This song has a cult like following among Duran Duran die hards. Covered by many many singers and bands since they released it.
It's a staple in some local bars at karaoke nights, however if you ask the people there what they think about "the Chauffeur" they don't really know it they say...then if you ask them about the song "Sing Blue Silver" they perk up and say oh I love that song...

Is a creepy, culty song. Almost as Goth as Duran Duran ever went.
Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Cranberries, Snow Patrol, Incubus, Blur, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, No Doubt, and many more singers and bands have cited Duran Duran as their main influence and inspiration.
What's your favorite Blur song. So far I like Coffee and TV and something like You really got me something.... I'm a big fan of the 2nd Gorillaz album too.
I could definitely see Snow Patrol and Blur using their music as influence.

After attending 16 Duran Duran concerts, I can attest that at every one I see fans with "Sing Blue Silver" tattoos. Duran Duran fans recognize that while singing this line, Simon's voice is at it's absolute best. Absolutely classic Duran Duran!
Nicks synthesizer and Simons poetic voice and lyrics are sexy and haunting. One of their best songs. Way ahead of their time and so we’re their risqué videos. My favorite band since the 80s ❤

Suspension and intrigue with notes of both intellectualism and primal sexuality, all at the same time. No one else, for me, has captured that.
The video is so hot,sexy and at the same time so elegant, it could easily be an Helmut Newton serie of photographs in motion, and the song is sooo unique! A masterpiece in my opinion!

Marcos, enjoy watching your reactions- always a delight to watch. You should listen to Blue Silver which is the original version of The Chauffeur before Nick Rhodes, Duran Duran's keyboardist, dramatically changed the track to an electronic-based song for the Rio album and really made the song into his own baby, per say. Blue Silver is primarily driven by Simon Le Bon's vocals and harmonies along with Andy Taylor's acoustic guitar (hints of Spanish/Flamenco) and John Taylor's (it appears to be fretless) throbbing bass. There is a little bit of percussion from Roger Taylor, Duran Duran's drummer, in this version as well.

Interestingly, you don't hear Nick on Blue Silver but he is all over The Chauffeur. Nick, Roger and Simon are the only ones on The Chauffeur recording. You've got the synthesizers, programmed drums and bass with real drums and Simon playing the Ocarina. Sonically, The Chauffeur is a complete 180 degree different song from Blue Silver. Both song versions are beautifully recorded and produced and are nice contrasts to each other. Blue Silver reminds me of a Beatles Song from the mid-1960s. A song made ahead of its time! It's amazing what Nick did with the song from its acoustic guitar foundation to the Rio album version.
Great recording and the ‘Arena’ version improves on it IMO.
You should listen to their song Night boat from their first album Planet Earth.

Not that the video interprets the song perfectly as far as the band or Simon is concerned, but you should watch the video. This song and the video are both basically art.

More Bauhaus than Duran Duran
Deftones did tribute cover to this and IMO better than the original. Made this song heavier and darker with their remake. The original is great and still a repeat song on playlists. Cool man good reaction.
