My older brother rented the first VHS of DD videos (and a giant VCR!) for my sleepover bday party in 1983. My friends and I hit the “original” video for the very first time and I remember locking the door, lest my Mom walked in! 🤣🤣🤣

If you think singing like that is hard, you should watch a live version of Bela Lugosi's Dead by Bauhaus cuz Peter Murphy sings upside down the whole time.... But this is the quintessential 80s song, Duran Duran was the beating heart . They knew how to put on a show.

You should react to Jonathan Davis lead singer of Korn’s version of this song!! It’s brilliant he’s a longtime fan of DD.
I prefer this version over the original video to be honest. There are 3 versions of this show, by the way. 1. As the lights go down - where you only get the show and a few things here and there. 2. Sing Blue Silver - a documentary with some performances, very interesting to watch. 3. Arena - ... a movie/show turned into... no one is sure of what, exactly. But you get a great version of The Reflex and the wonderful long version of The Wild Boys. The Making of Arena is also really entertaining.
I loved Arena, I was an impressionable 14 year old in 1985 and ripe for adoration of Duran Duran.

So the original video has some nudity, that’s probably why they gave you a different version. It’s a little racy as is girls on film. The Chauffeur is a great song more of a b side.
I'd say that The Chauffeur (1982) video is not as racy as the original Girls On Film (1981) video. 🙂 Both films do share a sensual theme throughout the video, however. I'd say what makes The Chauffeur video primarily risque is what you mention, some nudity. The nudity in The Chauffeur is of a topless woman dancing; whereas, in Girls On Film, the nudity is a bit over the top in comparison to The Chauffeur.
For those who don't know, the topless woman in The Chauffeur video is Perri Lister who was dating Billy Idol during the making of The Chauffeur video. Lister was Idol's long-time girlfriend throughout the 80s decade. They have a son together. Lister is also in Idol's White Wedding & Hot In The City videos, & she sang backing vocals in the chorus (on the French part of the lyrics), "Les yeux sans visage" on Idol's "Eyes Without a Face" single (1984).

Does this really need to be said?
