Contestants: Allison Chaney vs Lawrence Lee - Playing Games: Krull, Galaxian, Guzzler, Bagman, Wild Western - Grand Prize: Buck Rogers Video Arcade Game
Once he started hosting Starcade and being surrounded by video games, he developed a passion for them that lasted his entire life. He was genuinely happy to be there, and that was one of the things that made him such a great fit for this show.
@@matthewlane518 Same. I remember how bummed I was when I found out Starcade wasn’t going to be airing anymore. I tuned in the next week in the hopes that it would only be one week that it wasn’t going to air, but alas, it was permanent.
Wink Martindale briefly had that pilot up on his TH-cam channel, so I got to see it, and I'd say Alex Trebek did a really good job. Not only was he the host, but he spent 12 hours in the editing booth making sure the pilot was just right.
I was today years old when I learned that! Very interesting, but Geoff Edwards made the better host. He definitely had a passion for video games, which was definitely something you wanted for a show like this.
Mike Eruzione hosted the original Starcade pilot in 1981. The format for the 1981 pilot was totally different from the 1982-84 version of the show. The Alex Trebek version of the pilot wasn’t identical to the 1982-84 format, but it was more comparable.
This show is so comforting. Like an old friend.
So many good memories of watching this show.
Love this show!!! The host really knows the games.
i like the host here. he seems genuinely happy to be there

I really miss Geoff Edwards, RIP.
We do also.
He was a good host. He hosted this game show, as well as ""Jackpot!".
@@paullarue2010 He also hosted a version of chain reaction.
Awe man...he was great here. Just a first rate class act all the way.
That weird feeling when you watch these old episodes and realize the youngest contestants on this show are now in their late 40s.
I know, I remember watching this show when I was younger, and now I'm in my 40s lol

18:10 And now 4 decades later; that dream is highly unlikely to happen for her.
I wonder how many fans out there know that this was originally pitched to NBC with Alex Trebek as the host? The pilot is out there😎

9:06 - Kevin, that was so groaningly punny.
The pun really was Krull.
I cringed when he said, "You are Krull." Krull is the name of the world the movie takes place on. Prince Colwyn is our hero.
Geoff Edwards RULES
