  • Fischuel Quick Test UVB Sensor and REPTI ZOO UVB Tester Review!
    Do UVB card sensors work? I find out if these cards that are getting extremely popular actually work with uvb lamps.

    That's a darn shame - I was considering the cheaper cards as an option. Good thing you tested them!

    Look at Chief doing important scientific work and testing things. I'm certain, that there is a science degree coming your way ;)
    Jokes aside, it is great that you do these videos and put a light (no pun intended) on the differences in UV-light, so that these lovely animals get what they need :D

    Great review. First one I have seen done so well and clear.

    Good stuff, I’ve seen some “reptile influencers” promoting these cards and it drives me insane!

    Just wondering about the meter. Can it show separate readings for UVA and UVB? I see it says both on the screen and I don't know which one it's measuring.

    thank you so much! i bought a card like a year ago i think along with my UVB bulb & lost it. i was going to buy a new one but grew skeptical of the packaging saying that it detected /just/ UV rays. i don't know how that escaped me the first time!

    So, if I don't have access to a Solarmeter, how could I know where to place my lamp in relation to the basking spot?? I saw some tables online that relates a distance per lamp type per species, but I figure those distances would be true in ideal situations, in my setup I have plants and a screen so I really think I shouldn't be trusting those. I watched your guide on UVB lighting so I know those obstacles can really hinder the amount of UVB that my lizards are receiving. Do you have any tip for me in this case? Where I live a Solarmeter cost 2 months of salary so it's really out of my reality right now :/

    Hey, can you compare the solar meter to the 6-in-1 QUANTADOSE® Multi-Wavelength Bi-Luminescent UVA/UVB/UVC/Far-UVC Light Reusable Professional UV Test Card? I found it on Amazon for $10. Have you ever tried that one before? And if so, does it work?

    I was immediately skeptical of these when I saw them but went looking for more info and I'm glad I did lol thank you or making this!
    If you happen to see, do you know what the reading on a solarmeter should be for a bearded dragon? I'm always super nervous about if my guy is getting too much or not enough, if the bulb is at the right distance, and if the bulb is still working, so getting one is definitely in the plans now but I can't find anything online saying what the reading should be for a beardie.

    If the sensor receives only UVB does it change to purple? or would it stay white? I want to check if my glasses protect against all UV rays. Would the card be useful for that?

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah the card might be. You would have to have the glasses entirely covering the card though. Any piece exposed to uv will change the color of the card

    If you know how to use an arduino you could use a uv sensor module which can differentiate between uva, uvb and uvc for about 30$

    Can I suplement calcium+d3 to try sustitude the lack of uvb light???

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Before I would have said yes but studies have been coming out and lizards such as bearded dragons do not absorb the d3 really well from supplements so you do indeed need uvb no matter what

  • @jonathanlewis333

    Do these bulbs stop producing UVB before they stop producing UVA? Does that make sense? If they wear out and stop producing both at the same time then it wouldn't matter if they detect both at the same time. If however one diminishes faster than the other then you have a great point.

    Hallo ,do you have glasses with uv filter ? how protect your eyes

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t have uv glasses. Since I don’t look at the uv directly I don’t need protection

    This test just shows how the card reads the UVB and UVA through glass.
    Where did you get the information and proof that UVB diminishes faster than UVA on a bulb? Why didn’t you just try the test and see if the card works on a new bulb and then test it on a used bulb that’s past its prime?

    i dont regret making my friend from US to bring me over a Solarmeter, best investment ive ever made.
    there are so many BS products in indonesia that says that they are good uvb bulbs, most of them are not even at the correct wavelength to even suit a bearded dragon

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the solar meter is the best thing you could ever buy as a reptile keeper

  • @renigadefamily

    The card doesn't say UVB. They probably just measure UVA. So, try again.

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  ปีที่แล้ว

      On the card it doesn’t like I said in the video but online everywhere they are sold as UVB test cards so it is misleading that’s why I made the video. I also explain why it’s UVA and not UVB in the video with tests.

    Sorry but you are not following the instructions. It supposed to be held 5 cm away from the bulb. So when you post something please do it as the instructions on the package

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It was working in the video but it does not read uvb. It reads UVA. That’s the whole point.

    BS..........u never prove these cards never detect UVB

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Did you not see it? when uvb is 0% it reads as if uvb is super strong when UVB is not even present so it obviously doesn’t read uvb.
