I recommend Batman: Long Halloween, Killing Joke, and Death in the Family, and the Dark Knight Returns- but you know about those ones already I’m sure. The ones I recommend you may not have heard of are Night Cries, A Serious House on Serious Earth, Knightfall, and Dark Victory. Glad you’re getting into the source material too!
I'll add a couple to that list: The Man Who Laughs (takes place between Year One and The Long Halloween), and Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? (but only read that one once you've read/watched quite a bit of Batman stuff- its reference-heavy and you'll appreciate it more if you know Batman well). Also Batman: Noel.
Batman the man who laughs is technically the next one some other great books are long halloween, dark victory, Killing Joke, Hush, Mad Love, Harleen, Kingdom Come, New frontier, Joker the deluxe edition (it’s bloody dark though) those are some quality books imo
Glad to see you’re so engaged with the universe, you picked a good spot to start out So Year One is part of what I call the Origin Trilogy. After this there’s Long Halloween, which introduced Joker and Two Face among some other villains, followed by Dark Victory, which introduced Dick Grayson-the first Robin. If you want more stuff including Robin there’s Robin Year One, Death in the Family, Under the Red Hood (also including Dicks independent persona Nightwing) And Lonely Place of Dying As for more solo-focused Batman stories, I highly recommend Court of Owls by Scott Snyder, The Black Mirror, The War of Jokes and Riddles and Hush Sorry if this is a lot lol
While Year One, Long Halloween, and Dark Victory form a sort of early Batman trilogy, I'd add a fourth story to that list: The Man Who Laughs, between Year One and The Long Halloween.
I just found this channel and I'm always so glad to see people getting into the comics! It can be confusing at times, but its more than worth it for these incredible stories! Hope you enjoy the ride
I think Knightfall is a must for all batman fans who respect themselves. Besides that, I recommend the classics :the dark knight returns, the killing joke, batman: prey, strange apparitions, a serious house on a serious earth, the long Halloween, the court of Owls and a death in the family (not a great story, but an important one for the batman lore).
Batman has always been, and will always be my favorite hero of any franchise. Your channel and reactions to all things Batman brings me more joy than you could begin to imagine! So appreciated
Year One is the best Batman comic in my opinion with Dark Knight Returns and Killing Joke as close seconds. The Superman equivalent, Man of Steel by John Byrne, is written in a similar fashion to Year One though it’s a bit lighter in tone, being a Superman story and all.
Invincible, Tom King’s Mister Miracle, The Sheriff of Babylon, Watchmen, The Long Halloween, Jonathan Hickman’s Fantastic Four, All Star Superman, Y: The Last Man, Saga, Brian Michael Bendis’ Daredevil, Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye, Grant Morrison’s Batman run and Hellboy are just a few of the best comicbooks I’ve read ever. Also Watchmen.
Even though i'll admit Year One didn't blow me away, it was really awesome to see where alot of the influences/inspiration for The Batman came from, especially Selina's redesign. It was neat to see some of those used in Batman Begins too, and I liked the Superman references as well lol A Death in the Family and it's companion/sequel Under The Red Hood are a must, as well as KnightFall and the Court of Owls. I can't wait for Meg to get introduced to Jason Todd
I haven't watched it yet, but I know it features Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) as the voice of Gordon, and one of my favorite underrated stars Eliza Dushku as Catwoman.
Superman’s my favourite superhero. You should read some of his stories like Birthright, Kingdom Come and Al-Star Superman. There’s some others like Superman Smashes the Klan.
Maybe it's my eternal love for Batman Begins talking but I feel like the beginning of Batman's career is the best grounds for storytelling. A Batman who isn't an invincible god who plans for everything, a Jim Gordon who isn't sure who to trust, and fat mob kings who are disgustingly secure in their power over the city even when some costumed nut gets all up in their business. Arkham Origins doesn't quite take full advantage of that setting but it's good stuff regardless, can't wait to see you try it.
This was a great video. But i think these book or comic talks could work better as TH-cam videos instead of Twitch streams. TH-cam videos tend to be more organized than streams. I want to recommend few comics. I am sure you will like all of them. Batman The Long Halloween: I think that is best next step after Year One. Definetly read it before watching movie adaptations. It is more of a detective Batman story and one of the best i've ever experienced. Also it influenced Robert Pattinson's Batman a lot. Batman Ego: This is the quintessential book for understanding Batman. Story is mostly inside Bruce/Batman's head but i find it more interasting than most of the comics that have massive threats. Arkham Asylum A Serious House on Serious Earth: This is a really weird book but in a good way. Art is really unique and it completes the story perfectly. Story mostly isn't about Batman but it asks some great questions. Dark Night A True Batman Story: Read this after watching Mask of the Phantasm. Technically it is not a Batman comic but i had to write this. Comic is written by Tiny Toons and Batman The Animated Series writer Paul Dini(Guy who wrote Mr. Freeze episode) and it tells an important event from his life that happened during the production of Mask of the Phantasm. Some Batman characthers are featured prominently in the comic so i think it could count as a Batman comic.
2:45 Welcome to : Frank Miller can't write for Shite, especially women, loool.... You'll catch on 😂😂😂 Glad you liked year one, but there are better stories out there; I can make a list of what I have on my shelves RN ;p 😅
Found this channel by accident i really like her love for batman and his villains hope she watches mask of phantasm in the future. Awesome channel keep up the good work 👍🏽

Definitely recommend Dark Victory for anyone interested in learning more about Robin

The Dark Prince Charming is also really good

@@The_Phantasm ohhhh right this literally popped into my recommendation so I didn’t know that lol
Seconding Harleen. An excellent book.
hush is overrated too much, the script is pretty mediocre
@@guilhermeveigadeandrade7428 Enquanto eu concordo com vc, ainda assim é importante eu diria

I treat it like a quadrilogy. Even their tones all match well
I just found this channel and I'm always so glad to see people getting into the comics! It can be confusing at times, but its more than worth it for these incredible stories! Hope you enjoy the ride
You should read Batman: Shaman and Batman: Venom next. Shaman is a sequel to Year One and Venom is sooo underrated.
Harleen is my favourite Batman comic right now. So, so good.

the Batman Year One animated movie is just as awesome as the comic, you are gonna love the movie 🙌🔥

You should definetly consider watching the animated movie based on this graphic novel..It's amazing.
Yeah they did a really good job of adapting the comic to the movie, highly recommended.

maybe see the gotham series on netflix is about batman as a child
Dark knight returns and the court of owls are definitely worth checking out
Bear Batman Comic so glad you enjoyed this one 👌👌
Congratulations, it was also my first comic, greetings from Peru
I would suggest Killing Joke. The Dark Knight Returns and the Long Halloween
Superman’s my favourite superhero. You should read some of his stories like Birthright, Kingdom Come and Al-Star Superman. There’s some others like Superman Smashes the Klan.
I would read the Long Halloween first then watch, IDK. But whatever works best for reactions I guess🤷

Cool comic book
I wanna be, THE VERY BEST!!! :Kappa
Great review!
I think the next book is "The Man Who Laughs".
Yes, this is the next story in chronological order. And then I think is batman prey, the long Halloween and dark victory, but I am not sure
Keep reading more comics… you’ll soon be ready for Watchmen
