I got chills watching that “I will find you and hunt you down” scene again. This is literally the scene that got me into anime I absolutely adore death note for bringing me into the world of anime
I was pissed of by Ryuk but he couldn't really do anything either. Light became a self driven monster and ended up being one of the same kind of people he was trying to eliminate.
"Absolute power corrupts absolutely" I liked Light at first until he decended into a Sociopathic/Psychopathic megalomaniac who used and abused everyone around him in order to gain power. Oddly enough though, I did not care that he was killing criminals...I cared that he allowed the power to take him over which, in my eyes, made him worse than the people he was killing.
I am Batman Had Light not killed three FBI agents, he would have never been caught ever. There is literally not a single moment in the whole story in which Light actually had to kill anyone innocent. The only time he did was when Naomi and L got close to him but they would never have gotten that close had he not killed any of the agents.

If I had a death note I wouldn't see myself attempting to use it unless I knew there would be great benefit. Example. Saving a life or multiple lives. A country leader decides to start a war. Boom heart attack. No war.
I'd use it. There is no way I wouldn't fall into temptation. I'd probably start off doing seemingly objectively good in outcome, then start doing things for my own benefit. Probably falling into a crescendo of murder and trying to rule the world behind the curtains, and dying eventually.

WHY TREESICLE!?!? WHY!?! Why couldn't you make this video back in May so I could use it as a point of reference for my final project in English?!?! This would have been perfect! Instead I had to use Deadman Wonderland as an example of themes of evil, which was still good, but Death Note would have been better. Now that I got that out of my system. Great video! I’m really glad I’m not the only one who picked up on this! When I was a teen and I first watched it the deeper meaning flew over my head but now when I watch and think about it again you can really see how well written his character is and the conflicting truth that surfaces as you watch him progress! Lots of people just talk about the potato joke and such but I think the complex personas the creators have made is what I’m the most caught up in!
When you think about it, Lights views changed to more of a child like view of good and bad vs right and wrong. It’s a really interesting topic to think about when you really look at the conflicting sides that make you really think about your own morals
Oh my god i just read an article that said that light yagamis character arc was the flattest. I knew I didnt agree with it but I couldnt pinpoint what his character arc was! This makes so much sense. The same article said that amnesia was a plot convenience and I was like WTF that was GENIUS on light's part! This video perfectly explains how important that part was to the story, to his character and his intelligence too! This video has given me an insight into his mind that i was unable to crack into! Light didn’t think his actions were wrong at the beginning, he just thought that a shinigami would come take back what was his. He was content with the act and considered it the right thing to do.

However, the way he enjoyed killing Naomi sealed the deal for me of how much of a spoiled, pompous prick he really is in nature...and how he literally is no better or worst than the criminals he passes judgement on. I am Batman Had Light not killed three FBI agents, he would have never been caught ever. There is literally not a single moment in the whole story in which Light actually had to kill anyone innocent. The only time he did was when Naomi and L got close to him but they would never have gotten that close had he not killed any of the agents.

When I was a teen and I first watched it the deeper meaning flew over my head but now when I watch and think about it again you can really see how well written his character is and the conflicting truth that surfaces as you watch him progress!
Lots of people just talk about the potato joke and such but I think the complex personas the creators have made is what I’m the most caught up in!
When you think about it, Lights views changed to more of a child like view of good and bad vs right and wrong.
It’s a really interesting topic to think about when you really look at the conflicting sides that make you really think about your own morals

Oh my god i just read an article that said that light yagamis character arc was the flattest. I knew I didnt agree with it but I couldnt pinpoint what his character arc was! This makes so much sense. The same article said that amnesia was a plot convenience and I was like WTF that was GENIUS on light's part! This video perfectly explains how important that part was to the story, to his character and his intelligence too! This video has given me an insight into his mind that i was unable to crack into! The thing is, Ligth was a monster all along, he just didn‘t have the resources to be one, he already saw people on classes, „wicked“ and „good“ he had a black and white understanding of the world, just like L, as you said, he wanted to figth that with the means he had, once he obtained the death note he just acted as he always felt. The death note, and power in general, doesn‘t corrupt people, just shows the kind of person you‘re underneath your social mask, even in the anime, Kira doesn’t care about justice, but about to be a god, that’s why he declines the shinigami eyes, he cares to see himself as a god, justice be damn. The truth is, the more power you got, the more you show yourself. That‘s why Misa never goes full monster mode, she never had the intention to rule the world, just to be with Kira

However, the way he enjoyed killing Naomi sealed the deal for me of how much of a spoiled, pompous prick he really is in nature...and how he literally is no better or worst than the criminals he passes judgement on.
He can preach about the bigger picture all he wants, the way he goes around to carry on his so called "justice" with malice is infantile at best. If he at least felt genuine regret or internal conflict for his non criminal kills, I wouldn't hate him and actually understand why Kira fans wanted him to win at the end.

In my opinion, Light turned into a crazed asshole when he killed Naomi. He is a sick fuck for mocking her when she walks to her suicide...fuck him. I enjoyed watcing Light get pierced by the bullets in the final showdown, sadly he didn't suffer more.
