    Just like me, I became addicted to it to the point that I could no longer focus on reality, so I ended up as a failure. I am now trying to stop it. I want to live a real life and improve myself and my life.

      I also faced the same thing n now I m on recovery... My doc suggested me some medications n it worked like a lifesaver for me

    Currently dealing with this. I found it was a total replacement for what should have been my normal thought processes (eg. Having a fictional convo with someone instead of just internally processing it on my own)
    I started to make it work for me is identifying when it happens, and repourposing that daydream to work for me. It's not fool proof but it helps occasionally

      Yeah but how can i stop. I use it to work out my ideas like a powerpoint and talking as if im talking to someone. However its hard to snap out of it until i get embarrassed when someone walks in. I feel crazy. >_

      @@flowerbloom5782 it sounds like you are getting good use out of it. If it were me I wouldn't change anything but if you're able to, I'd consult a therapist for advice.

    Guys, I need your replies. I daydream literally EVERY DAY and it feels like I've already got what I'm dreaming about, but it's not true. I know I need these things, but because I daydream my brain thinks I have them when I don't! Who has the same problem?

    Yeah, I dissociate sometimes when driving by myself. When my kiddo is in the car it’s the safest because I know I have her to protect and I can talk to her as a distraction. Maladaptive day dreaming every other time. But I can day dream and pay attention but dissociating is different.

      It is okayyyy. Idk why so many people are suddenly having a problem with it. I'd never want to be cured. I love doing it everyday. The characters in my head always save me from embarrassment, guilt, shame, anxiety, you name it.
      I can't even imagine how boring and stressful my life would be without this condition.
      I mean yes it interferes with my work sometimes, but most of the time I am able to manage my daydreams with my work schedule. I find a way to daydream somehow in the washroom or on my way back home. It's just an outlet which keeps me sober.

      @@petera.6568please please try and find any way to stop this. It ruined my life and I wasted years away in a fantasy world. I used it as a way to escape shame and trauma as well. It started as a coping mechanism and I found it preferable to real life. But it’s actually evil!

    i think i can comeover from it if i start focusing on other activities or stop listening to music cause everytime i listen to music i started daydreaming

    I daydream that because of how good I am at creating emotional scenes that I am directing a movie and then simultaneously acting as an actor. I do this out loud a lot too.

    RECOMMENDATION FOR PEOPLE WHO MALADAPTIVE DAYDREAM:
    You can do this at any time but I would recommend doing it at nighttime or early in the morning since you won’t get disturbed as easily.
    Put on headphones and start play songs and/or memes that you tend to Maladaptive Daydream to.
    Then just start daydreaming to your heart’s desire until you get tired.
    I do this almost every night and it has helped improve my sleep and I have been able to focus more on school work since a lot of my Maladaptive Daydreaming has been “used up” from doing this method almost every night.
    If you don’t have time to do this or your to tired to then when your in the process of going to sleep start to do it in your head.
    Doing this will start making you just dream about all of these different scenarios and story’s you come up with that you normally daydream about most of your day, and you will most likely not lucid dream from doing this every night for those who don’t want to lucid dream.
    Hope this helped! And remember if you start using these methods and you realize these methods are starting bad habits you can and should stop as quick as possible so these bad habits don’t continue and instead find a better method that doesn’t make you do any bad habits. (THESE METHODS DO NOT HAVE A 100% IN WORKING)

      @@baby_eagle.0_0 I would recommend to use this method at 10:00pm then stop at 11:00pm and wait until 12:00am then do it again until 1:00am and slowly start to make the 12:00am-1:00am time smaller and smaller until you only daydream from 10:00pm-11:00pm.
      If this doesn’t help then tell me and I might have another method to help!

      This is the opposite for me. I daydream endlessly every night which disrupts my sleep. So this would be awful advice for me

    It’s not always. I daydream ALOT, like all the time, but I don’t have the condition. The condition, is where you’re trying to escape reality.

    bru I stopped my maladaptive daydreaming so much to the point where I’ve literally forgotten how to daydream and feel normal. It’s so uncomfortable because my brain won’t even give myself permission to do it in the slightest way. I’m not saying maladaptive daydreaming is right but I do feel like having somewhat of an imagination is healthy.

    This is true.. I was in target with my mom and i aaw something and i liked the textures, so im just touching the texture bc it feels cool then i started thinking of getting my dream cat for ny birthday then my daydream kicked in and i completely zoned out then all of a sudden i here "___ come on! " it was ny mom calling me to hurry up 🙁...

    Gosh.. I thought it was normal. I loved daydreaming, I even wrote a fantasy book. It’s became obsessive and it was my own small world… glady I stopped with the excessive daydream.. but to this day I still do it, and gladly still write :)

      its only bad if it gets in the way of ur life. if u find urself making excuses to get out of stuff so tht u can daydream regularly, tht might be a problem. everyone daydreams once in a while tho

    I don't do this as much as when I was a kid (smoking weed everyday did bring this back), but I never thought this was a bad thing. I honestly used to think that people just did this from time to time.
