- This is a quick review over the features and functions of the 2018 Honda Civic. If you have purchased one, or are considering it this will give you a quick Refresh on what the car has to offer.
Bought this car 2 weeks ago. I'm big time impressed so far. Had a 2007 Civic LX before this one. To me the 2018 is Night and Day compared to the 2007. Honda never disappoints!
I have a 2018 LX-P coupe, check my video. It just shows my aftermarket wheels and tires on it. As for the CVT, it is buttery smooth. I noticed it immediately when I drove it. I also had a 2015 Civic with CVT and this is much smoother. Go test drive one you won't be disappointed. I love this car.
Does the key warm up the car?
@@taylorfash1914 Just warms up the engine for 10 minutes then shuts off. But then you get in and start it turn on your heat instant warm! ;o) I think it just stays at 70 degrees standard when you start it with the key.

My brothers lasted him 201K mikes original engine. Original transmission, the transmission started slipping. It eventually gave up

I went with LX so I can have a 2.0 naturally aspirated engine. I don't trust little turbo cars or CVT transmissions. My 2.0 and 6 speed manual will last 300k miles.
Electric steering, GDI, turbos & CVTs have all but ruined today's automobile industry. I think you did the best you could in today's new car market though. Congrats.

Same reason I bought my 2020 Civic Sport Sedan with the manual transmission and 2.0 naturally aspirated port injected engine. I already have a fast weekend car, and the 2.0 + manual is the most reliable way to buy a Civic as a daily driver 👍🏻

Hey Justin, thanks for the informative video. I wanted clarification on the Brake Assist button. So my understanding based on your comments in this video is once I have engaged the brake assist it will stay on for the entire course of my trip until I turn it off or shut the engine off. (or take my seat belt off) So if I'm driving in stop and go traffic I can take my foot off the break every time I come to a complete stop once I hit the gas pedal I can continue without shutting the assist off. My next stop it will hold the car again. Do I have the correct understanding of this feature?

No it only does USB music tracks and Bluetooth, no texts etc. But that's all I need. Love mine!

Just for some clarity, I would have to do a hard reset since my stereo shows “no Bluetooth connection or usb connection” even tho it’s connected and also plays music? Just the display says “no songs” but it still plays songs

Does the 2018 Honda civic LX have CVT transmission? if so, is there an option to have regular automatic transmission instead? Lots of negative feedback on CVT so i'd rather not go with that.
The 2018 Civic does have a CVT transmission. They do not offer an alternate transmission. I would go drive one and see what you think. I have heard some of the push back on the CVT transmission, but typically from other makes.
There is always the manual transmission, it takes a bit of learning but is fun to drive and doesn’t have the downsides of a cvt.
I bought mine recently and I noticed the clock is in military time. I don’t understand military time and would like to set it to normal 24 hour time. Can someone explain to me how to do that please and thank you.
How do you view the tire pressures on the display?
I can’t find an XM channel option. Why would a 2018 model not have this option and what can I do if I want XM?

Thanks for this! I just got a 2018 LX last week. Slightly frustrated with navigating from my phone. Is there no way to play the radio AND have the Google Maps audio on? Makes for boring quiet trips while navigating.
You can not run the radio and bluetooth audio at the same time. But you can play audio through your phone and navigation at the same time depending on the phone. It will just give you the turn-by-turn over the audio playing...
I bought one and I was wondering if this car has navigation system or if I can use the one on phone

I noticed that there's a rear camera option while you scroll down through menu, I have Civic LX 2017 but I don't have such an option. Is it possible to install a camera and activate this option in dashboard? Also, Doors auto Lock/Unlock feature is not available.

Thanks for the review my problem is I want to delete some Bluetooth phone connection that has take up all the connection space for me,my phone can't even pair now because of all these phones that was connected before I buy it what can I do, and also the USB portal say unsupported what can I do
If you go to settings, then Bluetooth, then Bluetooth connections. From there you can delete old or passed connections. For the USB, I would try using a different cable. Or do basics like turn the phone off then turn it back on and reconnect. A lot of times basic 101 support things will fix the issue.
No volume button in Canada for 2018. Not a total deal breaker but would have been nice.
Do you know how to restart the battery? My radio doesn't show what songs are playing. It just shows the time even though i switch it over to show audio. Thanks!
You can unplug the battery from the under the hood and let it sit for a couple of minutes. That should restart everything.

You just use the bluetooth, it doesn't have apps. Just bluetooth and USB music playing.

How to check tire pressure on the infotainment screen? I've done it before when I first bought the car but now all that shows up is my audio settings. Please help
The tire pressure does not show on the infotainment screen. It will show a symbol in the dash to let you know.
This screen is just basic for song Tracks, and Phone Calls. All you need really. I love mine, got it with only 7000k miles on it.

No just use your Iphone etc through the speakers. I have a 2018 black coupe and it's just the very basics, no Honda Sense, Adaptive Cruise etc. Just USB and Bluetooth. Which is all i need, the stereo is great too, loud with lots of bass.
Just bought one for teen driver. It was supposed to be auto but ended up manual (carvana) anyhow about brake hold. It looks handy for incline. Does it automatically disengage after moving? Tu

I'm pretty sure in 2017 it was optional to get a civic width or without Honda sensing. It was $1,000 up charge to get it.

Sooo i changed the backdrop color to red and now my screen is black... It doesnt say the name on the songs playing...any help?
try going to settings and then display. From there you can either choose screensaver or audio. It probably switched on its own, you'll need to pick audio again.

Car runs good. But be aware AC issue with this car. The new frion 1234YF that goes in this car is hard on its condenser unit.

@Ron Swanson You have to buy a new compressor. Or leak in the hose. Luckily it was on callback on this. You can looked it up. After they replace compressor I ask them are they going back to the old style of freon like Mercedes did after they found out how damaging this freon is. They said no. So it's just a matter of time this happens again.

Honda does not offer the touch screen display as an option. So if you wanted to go that route it would be aftermarket.
I live in Dubai and on the 1.6L engines they offer it as the '2018 Honda Civic 1.6L LX Sport', No LED headlights, headlights are the square shaped ones, no rear view camera, no sun roof & no touchscreen however they have the front grill black in colour, leather wrapped stering wheel with chrome accents, the wheels btw which have the civic touring alloys & paddle shifters..no RS, no Hatchbacks, no sport touring,no 2.0L this is what we have here.. Its a tricky to be putting money on whats being offered here.. Will honda be releasing a 2019 honda civic or will it be in 2020/2021?

I should clarify - in the US they do not offer the touch screen for the LX model. I can not speak for other countries as well as I can for the US. Hopefully someone will chime in and help us out!

Just drive normally. if the car has paddle shifters you can use those to shift up and down.

@@estranged208 I find that the basic stereo system and speaker setup just isn't enough for me. I want more connectivity and better sound out of my vehicle. For that reason I like the EX touch screen. It gives me access to Apple carplay and Android auto. And I think it's just a better look over all to the dash. There's a lot of customization you can do with that head unit.

Can you check the oil or will it just tell me when it's time to get an oil change?
There is a button over by your gas gauge you can press. Press it a few time until you see the oil life pop up on the display under your speedometer and you should get your current oil life.

All Hondas have break-away mirrors, meaning yes you can fold them away for this.

What does the 40 mpg 80 mean,under the mph ?
It is the instantaneous gas mile gauge. It lets you know at any given moment if you continued to drive in the same in the same way, in the same conditions what MPG's you could expect.
No USB or Cell Phone charger jack?
The USB and 12 volt out let are under the center console.
Hello justin is there big difference between 2018 honda Civic Lx and Honda Civic Lx sport
zezo198 asdas the sport model only comes in the hatchback. The sedan does not offer it. But what you gain moving to the sport is dual paddle shifters, 18 inch alloy wheels, an underbody spoiler kit, a center-mounted dual-exhaust, fog lights, aluminum sport pedals, and a leather wrap steering wheel.

Zezo I'm going to pickup my new LX Sport next week in Kuwait and I believe I was attracted to this instead of the standard DX. It has alot of difference with average 500KWD difference in cash. You better go with the sport model. Also just wanted to let you know that the 1.6l dx, lx and lx sport are only for the MENA and GCC region. Not for Europe or the US.
I will refer to Mazin's response on this. The United States models are going to differ, so i think I would refer to another for help on this one...

You could argue you are paying more for a newer model that has less deprecation than a 2017 also. In one month that 2017 will be considered 2 years old. Just a thought....

This is a US LX> They do not offer a DX here. So, it may depend on where you live.
My 2018 Honda civic LX CVT. The sticker on the door states made 01/08 Canada, but the functions do not look like the 2018.
It’s not touchscreen and there is no “info” button on the left hand side of the steering.
This car was purchased in Hayward, California.

I got this car 2 weeks ago and for the most part I love it however I am a little disappointed that none of my pictures will upload as the error message states the image is to big! Second I dont like the fact that if your standing outside or near your car it will automatically lock I have got locked out once because my keys were in my purse in the car but I was standing outside the car!
You can resize your images and still use them. The car does have an re-lock feature to help keep your belongings safe.

Kal Ns, say you are driving down the highway going 75 mph, if you turn cruise control on, the car will keep it at 75 mph and you can take your foot off the gas pedal and you just have to steer the car! I use it all the time and I love it

Back up camera does shows up on the screen. It comes standard on the car. You do not have to add it...
Hi Mr.Justin I have the same model which is called(SE version)in UK and it comes with the same display(5") for audio system in your car.And it doesnt come rear camera.And it only have rear and front parking sensors.But in the trunk opener there is provision for a rear cam.Thats why I am asking whether we can fix a rear cam and activate this feature in the display?(P.S.- UK SE version and LX versions both have the same display,but it doesnot have factory fitted rear camera in some countries)

The USB plug is under the center console. (down below the stereo in the shlef near the floorboard) There is also a power outlet down there too.
So what’s the “S” gear ?
Sport mode - revs at higher RPM giving you more get up and go. But will effect gas mileage.

lol, i'll be getting pulled over for the compliments coming that the car is beautifully designed, reliably engineered by great engineers and a futuristic style with more features than the old overpriced chevrolet volt which was a disaster not because its electric ,but because it can't compete with Japans Hondas.
There are allot of variables that went into the price i got based on city location, the honesty of the dealer and what is available at the time. Now keep in mind that this is a very hot selling car that dealers can't keep in stock, but I got mine for ~17899.98 at 1.9% APR for 60 months with gap insurance. Try to aim for the best price you can negotiate. I live in indiana so other cities might do as well or better.

How can I connect the GPS?
On the LX model you can connect your phone to bluetooth and receive the turn-by-turn directions through the speakers and mount your phone in a visible area. If you were looking to connect the phone to the USB and pull up your navigation you would need to be in the EX model or above.
