Thank you...question is there anything you can do/ buy/ etc before your relign appt to lessen/ prevent the sores from your gums shrinking and the dentures moving? Also how long did you have removables before you git the all on 4s? I cant afford the all on 4s now but worried if I get full dentures and have to wait years to save up I'll have major bone loss.:( I'm 52 yr old woman) THANK YOU

T-minus 9 days until I get my immediate. I can't wait to smile again without covering my mouth, I can't wait to not feel so self conscious & feel so much pain from eating, chipping away or infections. I'm so ready for this journey, I think it's going to be amazing! I'm a little nervous but I know deep down it's gunna be ok.

My experience was.... I swelled up and bruised pretty bad. Under my eyes especially. I had all my teeth extracted and put immediate dentures on a Wednesday and I went back to work the following week on a Thursday. A total of 6 days off from work. For the first 24 hours I was applying ice packs 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. I think that is what helped with the healing pretty quickly. Plus rinsing with salt water. I just requested time off from work for a dental procedure. No questions asked. I say within 3 and a half weeks I was able to chew solid food pretty comfortably. Everyone heals differently and experiences are different, but no regrets whatsoever. It's a process, but so worth it. Everyone deserves to smile, be able to eat anything and especially have no teeth pain which is the worst. Best wishes and fast healing to those that are starting their denture journey. 😊

I'm getting 19 removed today & immediate dentures. I'm scared to death. Also, in order to get pain meds they have to prescribe narcan (new law?) & insurance won't cover it so no pain meds. Just ibuprofen & tylenol. I'm incredibly scared to death. We will see when I take the Ativan a couple hours beforehand.

your videos are such comfort too me. I go for all my remaining (6) lower teeth extractions and implant placements on Oct 19. I had 4 extracted in January of this year and bone grafts on both sides. I am terrified. Thank you so much for your videos and for sharing your experiences. I feel so much comfort from watching your videos. I am 58. I had 4 tumors extracted from my ovaries at the James Cancer Center in Columbus. I nearly died. then 10 years later I had gall bladder surgery and hemorrhaged in the operating room and nearly died. I lost 60% of my blood supply. The surgeon had to abandon the surgery and left 4 surgical clips inside me. I was inches away from death. I know suffering. I have a huge pain tolerance. But a Dentist terrifies me like you have no idea. I would happily go in for surgery of any kind to keep away from a dentist. please everyone, and anyone that's a Christian whom reads this, pray for me.

I had my last 8 top pulled Dec 28, 21 and immediate dentures. I took the rest of that week and the weekend. Went back on Monday but pretty much sat at my desk. I feel pretty good and have check up this week. If you have a physical type job, I would say 2 weeks, desk type job a week. I told them at work what was going on, they gave me a Visa Card with many $$$$$ to help with the cost😊😊 I love them ❤

I was really nervous about getting dentures, and a bit ashamed as I am 37. I was pleased to find numerous videos by younger people sharing their experiences.
My dentist recommended taking a week off work.....I had 12 days off, and wouldn't have wanted one less day off. Not due to pain or anything physical....it's just a huge adjustment.

I am 58 and from the UK and 3 weeks ago having suffered poor teeth for years had all top teeth extracted and same day all on 4 teeth and 2 molar implants with sedation, I had no idea how traumatic this was going to be as I was given very little information from the dentist to warn me how I would feel afterwards & the recovery process. the all on 4 denture felt like a brick in my mouth for ages .
So I used TH-cam for support & information and found your videos stood out as the most helpful, they gave me more support than the dentists and are helping me through this process, your videos are done with such dignity and self respect showing light at the end of the tunnel .Thank You

I am going in next Tuesday for upper teeth extractions and an immediate denture placed. I am BEYOND nervous, but your videos have helped me so much. I am taking 2 weeks off from work. I did tell my boss and she said to do what’s best for me. At my job we have to take a personal leave with no pay and I am ok with that. I’ve had some colleagues (that I shared this procedure with)support me in taking 2 weeks off, others think it’s ridiculous and that I should return within 2 days post op. My mental state isn’t the best with having to get dentures in my 40s but the pain I’ve been going thru with my natural teeth is beyond what I can handle. I’m doing what’s best for me and taking the time to recover and adjust. I also feel the denture has to fit me without feeling like it will fall out my mouth bc one of my colleagues said to me “when you come back and if your denture falls I’m going to laugh and make fun of you”. Yes, even in adulthood we have bullies. Thank you again for your videos. I have my families support, my children’s support and TRUE friends/colleagues support. I pray it’s the best outcome for me and my life is made better by this decision.

First of all, I just want to thank you for posting videos of your experience. I believe we are all self conscious when it comes to this. So having this kind of support group really helps.
Now, I am 46 years old and just completed my lower extractions and the doctor put the lower dentures in immediately. And you are 100% correct, it feels like this is never going to work. Today is Wednesday, I had the procedure Monday. Eating is terrible. Talking isn’t much better. But, not as bad as I thought.
On the other hand, I’m still nervous about removing the denture for the first time. I had my posterior teeth pulled at 2 different times and Monday they pulled the anterior teeth. I was able to see the extraction site on my back teeth not my front. So yes, I’m nervous! I do not want to pull out a blood clot and cause the dreaded dry socket ordeal.
With that, my question to you or anyone else is this- am I overreacting or should I just man up and do it?
Another question, how long after extractions before you took out dentures for first time?
Again, thank you for posting your experience. And May God bless you!

I'm three days post surgical extractions and immediate dentures. The first two days have been rough with pain & swelling. The ice packs & rinsing with warm salt water really helps sooth the pain with some ice chips just to cool my mouth down. The third day I'm in pain but not as bad. My bottom dentures are hurting the most because that's where the teeth were the worse from a gum disease & asthma medication that sped up the decay. I'm taking a week off from work. I told my Supervisor because we have a great relationship. Take it easy & get plenty of rest. I had valium the day of surgery but wish I had anesthesia.

As a medical doctor, and speaking personally - the majority of the swelling that people experience is due to having the dental clearance done under local anaesthesia - it is natural to pull away from the pressure of the physical extraction.
I had my dental clearance done under general anaesthesia and had almost no facial swelling - I did have swelling of the gums.

Drink 64oz of straight pineapple juice the very night before you get your teeth taken out. It helps with the swelling MASSIVELY! I promise you it helps. When I did other dental work without the pineapple juice it swelled double the size I ever thought. But when I did my teeth it was swelling for only 13 hours and then gone.

Bromelain- the enzyme in pineapple- is best when used as an extract. Current studies examine its effectiveness only when used post-op. The acidity in pineapple juice is worse for your teeth than the small amount of bromelain might benefit you.
Antibiotics. Good anti-inflammatories. Real bromelain. Ice packs. All recommended rather than an acidic juice with minor amounts of an anti inflammatory.

I had a heart attack months prior and she told me to knock off whatever games I’m playing. And my store manager was very understanding. He checked up on me not once, but twice. Swelling lasted for 11 days-same with pain. But I took nothing for pain. Except for regular ibuprofen. It was pretty bad if I’m honest. Agony. Zero sleep. Every 1-2 hours changing ice packs. Thanking god I live with my parents right now, because my dad and my mom both would check on me. The couch was my best friend for 8-10 days. Protein drinks and water water water. I tried really hard to eat mashed up scrambled eggs in the first 2 weeks. I couldn’t. But I found ways to eat. It was horrendous. I had 16 teeth pulled at once. And yes I was out under. But my goodness. Thanking god I took care of it when I did. 🙏🏻

Glad you’re finally taking the plunge! If these are temporary dentures, you can probably help pick out the shade and shape but will be a little limited on how involved you can get with customizing them. When you get your final set, you can go through a couple of wax try-ins to fine tune the aesthetic. ♥️

Trying to learn what shapes and colors are best and what would look best. Like longer in front and sharp k9s and feminine vs bold. You just covered alot of that so thanks for that new video! The wax try ins make me feel a bit less nervous. Having options to try paired with studying the shapes and colors should help to communicate what I like will hopefully produce a good final result. If they're not perfect I'll just remember that it doesn't have to be my last set and it's still a step in the right direction. Watching yours get better and better has really shown me the potential. Honestly my journey is starting right where yours started. Affordable dentures and implants.🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 I know I know....they are hit or miss. I'm praying ill be one of the good outcomes. It's what I can afford rn.🤗

I had my teeth extracted exactly 1 week ago. I was given nitrous but no pain meds during or after the procedure not even ibuprofen. I stayed home from work the following day but went back the next. I was pretty swollen but never had any pain at all. Swelling went down in about 5 days. What really helped to eliminate the remainder of the uneven puffiness believe it or not, was doing "facial cupping" which pulled any toxins and fluid up and out to my lymphs to dispose of. I did it with much more upward and slow swipes and opposed to the standard quick sweeps you see on TH-cam. I hope this helps someone at least .

I have top full dentures. I got mine in March 2022. I was swollen for about 5 days, my face went blue especially under my eyes. But I had pain meds and antibiotics. Also salt water rinses helped a lot for any infection I would have got during the healing. It took a while to get used to taking them out and then the stress was sleeping without them in. I've recently after 2 months started sleeping with them out. It also helps with any swelling you have during the day and allows the gums to relax. I was eating food within a week or two after my extractions. I use the adhesive in the event my dentures decide to pop out my mouth lol. Other than that I have a beautiful smile again, can eat most, if not all the same foods I ate before and I don't regret it at all.

If I had to do it over again I would in a heartbeat. Sadly I don't have a good bone structure on top so hence why they had to go. Also it depends from person to person. Some battle for as long as a year. I was already on solids within a week or so. It's all about training your mind again on how to chew and to bite like you would with your own teeth. I used to have countless infections in my teeth. I went from having fillings to root canals to extractions until I got the confidence to do it. It was thanks to my mom who talked me into it (bad genes from her side of the family)

I took 2 weeks, however my job was tech support, talking on the phone 10 hrs a day. I couldn't do my job. I talked so poorly, and was whistling, nobody could understand me. They were rude to me, they hung up on me constantly, accused me of being a foreigner, handicapped, etc. I was frustrated, upset, and my Joba had zero sympathy. I ended up quiting. It took me at least 2 or 3 months to talk normally (I now have better diction than I ever did, but it's been years.) It was really, really rough.

Totally agree , I’ve been on my bad tooth journey seems since I was 6 or 7 and had my entire mouth done with root canal’s , crowns etc but no matter no luck at 54 I went had the teeth I had left up top and it was hard I literally wanted my own teeth regardless of how jacked up they looked but after I had them removed , so many women would ask as they wanted or needed theirs removed but they were to self conscious. I was amazed at the amount of ppl I thought had real teeth and they were actually dentures or implant supported dentures or bridges .

Just had my tops removed and it’s day four post “op” (extracted with freezing only, and no anxiety meds prior to) and I have yet to feel any sort of pain. I was extremely tired while the freezing was wearing off the day of and some of the next day too, but it is genuinely only tender if my tongue happens to touch one of the openings. I feel like my molars are basically already closed over. My theory is that my mouth was constantly trying to heal, so as soon as there was nothing in the way my gums just did the thing immediately lmao, and I was in so much pain already that the pain of healing isn’t comparable and I’m probably just not noticing it because I’m used to it at this point. I got my tops extracted on Saturday, and went grocery shopping on Sunday. I fully expected to be on bed rest for three days, lol. Everyone is different, so to anyone starting the process - be sure to listen to your own body. 🖤

Wow I wish I would have saw these before I got my immediate dentures, this is my second video only after your "I regretted getting my dentures" because that's how I'm feeling. I'm one week Tomorrow from having 16 teeth extracted mostly top and immediate dentures and that's how I'm feeling. The swelling has gone down and the bottom hurt so badly I cannot wear them the top fit well but now are hurting in certain spots my bite is off my speech is impaired and eating is not possible not with the bottom ones in they seem very large and slanted... I'm so thankful to know the reline will make a major difference because aesthetics was the most important to me before getting them and I'm now realizing that the look is tolerable but if they don't function then their useless.... thanks again. .

@@jessb465 Good deal that's good to hear and better news for you. I swear to you that you will loose that feeling soon. It really does take some time to not only get use to them but the discomfort was as mentally challenging as having all my teeth pulled. Be prepared for bone fragments but they go away soon and within 3 more weeks it will be almost natural. So after my soft reline I am in a much better place with my new teefers. I'm now 3 or 4 months in and it's all good so hang in their.

You videos are so helpful! I was scheduled for surgery last Thursday. I need some extra bone so instead of going straight to the implants (which was the plan) I have to do an extra $8,000 surgery for bone packing 🙄. So I will have the temporaries for about 4 months while I heal. They couldn’t find a vein to put me under so they had to send me home and now I have to go the Hospital to have it done on Monday. So frustrating…I’m super nervous but excited! You videos are the only things that bring me comfort so I just wanted to say thank you. 🤞🏼 for Monday (my new surgery date) I will/ can work from home luckily but this was really helpful because Thanksgiving is 10 days after surgery. Not so worried about eating but socializing is bringing anxiety 😟. Thanks you again! 💛💛💛💛

My experience was different. I live in the UK, Im on low income, so all this was for free, No bill
I had my teeth done 2 years ago, most of my teeth were broken and down to roots only, this was due to a fear of the dentist, at the end of lock down i got the courage to go, lock down was good for me because i could wear a mask, even for job interviews. so i went to dentist
because of my fear, i was getting my extractions done at hospital under sedation, i was awake, knew what they were doing, but didnt care with sedation, my dentist had taken my impression before extraction, i only had my top extracted on first visit as they can only sedate me for 45 minutes at a time,
the hospital does not fit your immediate dentures, so i left them out for 2 weeks till pain swelling settled, i did not have bad pain, just soreness
I had my bottom ectracted a month later, first few days were great, then 3 days of pain, no swelling, again no immediate dentures fitted, my dentist fitted after.
6 months later i went for my next set after swelling had settled, and had top and bottom done, i have wore them ever since with no problems, apart from minor adjustments i did at home, i do use adhesive because of my bone structure, took me a while to find best one for me, i use fixedent strong hold, i find less cleaning and sticky when i take them out.

Talking sucks lol eating is weird, drinking oh lord I have laughed at myself many times when I took my very first drink so I could take Tylenol the water literally all came back out on me. I absolutely do not like how my teeth look but the dentist did mess up my impressions so my cousin had to fix these ones the best she could and then when my gums heal she will be making me a new denture.

  • @hakunamatata8919
    @hakunamatata8919 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I had full extractions yesterday. I had so called "chalk teeth", a born disease, so my teeth were 10 times thinner than usual teeth and hypersensitive. They just broke off over the years and I had no one healthy left. Caps have never been an option as my teeth were so thin and sensitive.
I was sedated yesterday morning and was feeling fine after a few hours. After 4 hours I went with my dog in the woods for an hour walk. But then the pain crushed in really bad. My left side looks totally fine and I have no pain there, but my right side hurted like hell and swoll up just like crazy. I visited my dentist today and he said this is because the dentures didn´t fit on this side, the plastic would pinch right into the swellings and I had many stitches on this side as the teeth were very difficult to remove. The left side was much much easier and I have no pain nor swellings there. I can´t properly speak yet and did not figure out how to eat. But the pain is already much better after he worked on my dentures this morning.
If I judge on my left side I think I would be ready to go to work on Monday, but if I look on my right side I fear I will never again look and feel normal. So I think it really depends on your teeth and how easy they are to remove.

My teeth looked nice but felt so huge and foreign in my mouth. I didn't have the swelling or bruising but did have a lot of discomfort and to this day (13-plus years) I've not really enjoyed a meal.

Unfortunately I am having a palette torus & mandible torus removed as well as my remaining teeth so not sure how painful that will be during recovery. I'm 76 and retired so I can chill at home but I'm single and have no one to help me. I can easily have a panic attack just thinking about it but I have to move forward and be brave. I don't have dentures, but it may become my realty someday soon. Your teeth look so natural, with the lateral incisors and canines being varied length and shape compared to your central incisors. I don't want to wind up with dentures like my mother had, where her teeth looked to be the same length and size as the rest in front; it just doesn't look natural. Is there a way to relay this to the dentist? Did you have any input or is that just how they made them with no input?

I took 7 full days off work. My surgery was Friday so I took the day before off to prepare, obviously took Friday off and all of the following week. I don't know what my dentist gave me to knock me out. He quickly put something in my IV and told me I was going to start feeling relaxed. I said ok and 2 seconds later I remembered nothing! I woke up and my teeth were gone. Amazing! I got a sore on my lower jaw so I used adhesive and problem solved. Dentists really don't tell you alot. You learn as you go. Removing my dentures the first time was terrifying. I was so scared I wouldn't be able to get them back in. At first putting them in was painful but it eventually gets better. I think it's because your gums are swollen. I took lots of 600mg of ibuprofen for the first 5 days around the clock. It helped.

E-day is this Monday or me. The whole thing jumped up really quick. I went home sick with a horrible tooth ache on a Tuesday. I had already scheduled days off wed, Thursday and Friday for just a nice long weekend. The tooth ache ruined that. Went to the dentist wed morning. They told me we have to do this and Monday is the day they could fit me in.
I’m out of time off. Only worker in the family right now. I have to go back to work no way around it.

  • @efunkyman6853

For my procedure, I had an anesthesiologist on site to knock me out. Had the entire upper teeth removed. An immediate denture was installed and fortunately, I did not suffer from swelling. I wore the denture 3 full days, taking them out to clean after eating. Speaking of eating, prepare soft food ahead of the surgery! Breakfast, Cream of Wheat and the other meals were soupy or pulverized: beans with meat, chicken with rice. Each served on top of soft, sushi style rice. Being able to eat is the best way to deal with the meds. Anyhow, my pain came the most from the dentures. On day 4 I removed the dentures and left those suckers out. The brusing they caused was more painful than any post surgery pain so I figured, how can I tell which adjustments need to be made before my mouth is healed? Here I am today on day 6. Last night I tried the dentures on and they are still painful and difficult to seat properly. Considering taking my Dremel tool to the denture points causing me grief but will wait for my mouth to heal and try them on again but more aggressively. I also figure since they gave me Polident glue to hold them, then why do they need to be on so tight? Mine are temporary until I get permanent, removable type implante installed so I'm willing to take some modification chances with this removable denture to make them comfortable in the meantime.

Just jumping into your story so I don’t know if you explained it but I was wondering… why did you do it? How many teeth you got extracted? What type of dental options did your dentist provide for you to get and why did you choose what you did? Costs ( I understand if you don’t want to share but it would be helpful) and how much did you have to pay and was any of it covered? Ever since I had my cancer treatment I have dry mouth and it has wrecked all my once beautiful teeth! I’m now in terrible pain facing the fact I have to get them all removed. I wanted implants but I’m on disability and there is no way I can afford it. Which is also why I haven’t been seeing a dentist like I used to. All because of the lack of funds bc just one dentist appt is a lot of money and now being disabled I can’t afford it. Combining dry mouth and lack of money = no dentist = all my teeth are now with cavities or shattered or rotten or whatever but they need to come out!!!! So I’m searching for women like yourself who have gotten dentures at a young age. Your smile looks GORGEOUS!!! You look like you were born with AMAZING teeth!!! YOU are VERY VERY beautiful so good for you! Btw- I wonder, is it hard when u are in the bathroom and hv to take them out is it hard to look at yourself with your dentures OUT? I’m terrified of how I will feel when that moment happens so I’m wondering what was it like for u? Thanks for reading! Great video! YOU LOOK SPECTACULAR!!!!! Maybe you can answer these questions in another video? Much appreciated! 😁

I had my full uppers extracted and fitted with dentures 7 years ago. I was fully recovered from the pain within 48 hours and healed pretty quickly. Once my gums healed fully, it took about 5-6 trips to the dentist to get the perfect fit through adjustments. I only had to take about 6 pain pills over a couple days. I just had my lowers extracted and an instant denture made, the lowers were BRUTAL. It's been a week and I am still in marked discomfort and can only wear the denture if I go in public. I go for my follow up in another week, I don't think I'm gonna make it that long. Am I the only one that experienced migraines after my lower extractions.

I'm on day 8 of all on four Implants. Day 4 was the absolute worst for me. I have a high pain tolerance - but all I wanted to do was lay in bed and cry. I've returned to work, but struggling with pain. Yesterday I worked almost a full shift, by the time I got home - my face was swollen and throbbing.

Ohhh really!! Geesh. I literally just got out of the dental chair (Friday May 20th 2022) I only took today off and figured I'd go through the pain, swelling and "uncomfortableness" this weekend. Hopefully I'll be OK to work Monday.

@@kalinjax I totally forgot about me commenting. Everything went fine! I was back at work like nothing happened! The swelling was very minimal and was completely gone by Sunday.

Hello, what’s the best denture I can buy? It’s unfortunate that I have to consider this. Any advice is appreciated

I will be going this route within the next couple years. I have almost all my back teeth missing, receding gums, extreme sensitivity, and my teeth have worn away enamel. I work on the phones and do a lot of talking. Would you say 2 weeks is enough to take off when your job involves 8 hours of talking on the phones?

I need to know what you know about a sinus lift? I'm very scared to have this procedure done. Do you have any videos on this topic? Extraction was the worse experience I've had in the dental office, pulling 9 teeth in one sitting😢 The purpose of the sinus lift is to add bone to have anchors set for my permanent dentures. Thanks in advance.

Im going in today to do my bottoms. Got my top done about a year ago. I originally took off 3 days the first time. Im taking off 6 days this time around. On day 3 it was rough but the bleeding had stopped and we were still wearing masks. I took the extra time this time around juat so ill be more comfortable when i return. My hope is since im only dealing with the bottom and the top is already done, it wont be as bad. Plus that's all the PTO i have.

I'm right now wearing a healing immediate front partial. I didn't want to go without front teeth. My dentist wants my gums to heal before doing another impression then ordering my new front partial.. I've been talking with a bit of a lisp..my daughter says I talk a little like a cartoon character. ha ha ha. I too have lost almost ten pounds but happy i lost it
