@get off my toe yes and no. Fatalis weapons even the DBs are best for raw builds. It has the highest raw atk by far while having a tiny dragon dmg with elderseal. But for dragon element build Alatreon DBs still is the best, thats assuming you also have endgame armor/equipment. If you're asking which is best overall i think it still depends on the enemy. I dont know the numbers but im assuming Alatreon still beats Fatalis when attacking monsters or parts with 3star weakness to dragon. Fatalis DBs however can be literally be used against anything and still produce toptier dmg. Its comfy imo if you dont like changing weapons.
Kjarr for many of the KT weapons is the superior pick given that it comes with critical element (the 2 pc velk armor passive). This means that it can be more versatile when compared to stuff like safi. For example you could go kjarr ice with 5 piece safi armor and get over 800 element while also getting alot of slots for decos. If you want roughly the same dps without kjarr weapons you'd have to run four piece silver rath (TRUE critical element) which is very limited in deco slots and usually has to sacrifice health boost three. Also the majority of Kjarr weapons have really good stats, especially for element based weapons like bow and DB. Taroth on the other hand use to be the best overall for the base game before iceborne. Now when upgraded they have really good stats (comparable to kjarr) but you have to use three free element up decos to unlock its element and use silver rath (since it doesn't have kjarr passive). I mainly play bow but heres the tier list, kjarr ice and fire are top tier, water is kjarr and safi (depeneds on if you use power coating) dragon is meh and thunder is safi, kjarr and taroth. In the case of thunder the Kjarr bow has low stats compared to others in its tier, so low in fact that it makes safi and taroth comparable in overall dps which is why all three are viable. A tldr for DB would be ice, thunder kjarr, water kjarr is good to, dragon is better for alatreon and fire is good but has really bad sharpness meaning that you need minds eye to not bounce. Hopes this helps as a short TLDR
@Bryan Matthew One good reason to pick kjarr over db is comfort. You have more comfort skills and sharpness due to razer sharp from fatty bonus armor pcs. Played against zinogre today with both kjarr ice and tarroth n holy shit u burn through sharpness so fast on tarroth 🤣. In the end comes down to preference and what you're comfortable with. Every build has a specific purpose so it just depends on what you need for a specific match up.
Ok, so guys as a all time duel blades main, let me tell u the 2 differemt sets i mainly use, and they are the most broken probably in game, the first 1, is the most broken health regen comfort build, 2 piece velkana(use the helmet for slots and perk) for critical element, 2 piece black veil vall hazak for the naturally infinite regen, 1 piece nirgi and nirgi essance on a safi weopon, this is also inter changeable to every weopon in game. but best used on element based weopons, i have 1 of every duel blade element from safi upgraded with health regen augment.... the next is raw damage, and its better then fatalis because its extremely restrictive to duel blades, 3 piece alatreon, and 2 piece velkana(again use the helmet), and use the alatreon weopon, aughment it for health regen, affinity and element up, and always eat a veggie platter, your natural base element should be around mine for 660 dragon element, and dragon resistance of 54 or 56, and every othwr element is above 25 30, with ice being at 44 ish on the armor itself, its high damage and raw elemental defense/ offense.... btw all these armor pieces are b sets because of the slots, if u want further information, contact me on xbox, Lokixlegendx77, also i may or may not replace my velkana pieces with the y stuff depending on stats

That's what I thought! I think I'd have to be crazy to give up 5/5 Safi, which gives 40% affinity and something like +120 flat elemental damage. And I agree, coalescence is garbage. It's never active and half the blights that can proc it (Ice and Water) ruin stamina for dual blade users. I've been running it without the health augmentation but now that I know the difference in overall damage is so small between 3 elemental augments vs 2 ele augs I'll have to give it a try for sure!
I'll stick with my 2 piece ruiner with kulve chest velk head and gold rath waist. I keep my comfort over everything else, I dont care if the fight is 10 min or 49 min. I've played everyday since world launched speeding through isn't a thing
Finally who understands META. Meta isn't only maxed damage, it's also the best comfortable hunt. I'm still in love with the Vaal-Hazak who regenerates your life without slaying monsters. Very comfortable!
Fatty armour is so good for comfort, I can fit all my attack skills with handicraft, free meal lv3 and speed eating lv3, and (depending on the decos you have) divine blessing lv5
Complete dual blades noob here, are these better than a fatalis weapon raw build? If so by how much? I'm a lazy hammer main getting into db and having so many different loadouts seems tedious
Filthy casual here, just got to the "new" augments, am i understanding this correctly: 1green hexagon = 1 times health augment 2x yellow = twice elem augment? and what do the attack VI, V and so forth on the right mean? Thanks in advance
Rarity 11 weapons can get extra augments, for elemental dual blades you do 5x element and 1 attack. If you go to the smithy with Kjarr or Taroth blades (after upgrading of course) you will have the regular augmentations and at the bottom of that list are these upgrades
I'm a pretty casual player but still like to min/max a LITTLE bit. Is there a good general purpose build where I can just switch out the weapon depending on matchup, but not the armour?
I would say 4p-fatalis + any Kjarr DB will be quite comfort (I think he mentioned it in the video as well) you can also run fatalis DB if you don’t want to swap weapon.
I always assumed Coalescence was crap. It only activates when you're suffering from an elemental blight but it's better to shake off all those blights ASAP especially Water Blight and Ice Blight which ruin stamina for dual blades. Is it actually good? And if so, how?
First of it only activates when you get rid of the blight, not when you have it. Also using blight resistance 2 in the builds makes any ele blight last for only 10 seconds so you basically just get blighted and keep attacking while it goes away after a bit and coal essence activates
@@IDeVaste oh neat! Hey thanks for explaining that. How long does Coalescence last after it activates? My disfavor for coalescence also stems from the fact that you have to take a hit in order for it to work. And not every monster causes elemental blights either. I'm a dual blade main and I've been wanting to vary/optimize my builds so I had a look at your work here. Very impressive :-) I'm sure you've tested the heck out of it but I'm having a hard time letting go of the concept that 5/5 Safi armor isn't the best... It grants a huge chunk of affinity (40%) which makes 100% Crit obtainable. And of course, that enables us to get the most out of Critical Element. Not to mention the flat, elemental damage it gives, which is then multiplied up by your armor skills and again by Critical Element. Does that really only equate to a 3% difference in damage? I find that astonishing. Currently, I use 5/5 Safi with Kjarr and full elemental augments. I've grown accustomed to the life drain and find it easily navigable at this point. Health Booster+ makes a huge difference and if I see too much red on my health bar I can just snack on Astera jerky to instantly restore it. Between Dash Juice and Black Belt, I find the stamina is ample. 50 more stamina would be awesome but rarely does a monster stay still long enough for me to use up my whole bar attacking anyway. I did notice how little stamina is cost you to Demon Dash though, that looked *very* nice.
Is it ok to just use Kjarr Ice or is Ice useless to some monsters? As some comments here say, its hard to get a elemental set for every monster. For Example with a Hammer or LS build you can do every monster.
Lance is a solid and strong weapon. Its clearly not the strongest DPS weapon, but its very solid and gets the job done with less carts. Thats exactly what it should do.
@@bang2goeezy496 46? You`re doing a lot of stuff wrong if you didn't get 100 at least. I got crit builds with 100% affininity on every part (No WEX, no MaxMight), purple sharpness and no loss of sharpness (Teoparts) with 86 per poke. Its just a fun build, you get more DPS with Wex but 100% crit with 100% purple sharpness is a nice and lazy build. With offensive guard you can get 120 per poke or even more.
Why ice dagger just compare kjarr & taroth? I think frost fang ice dagger better than both (raw, sharp, aff, element) and no need free element like taroth
because the base raw and element values outweigh the native crit element of the Kjarr variant (A skill which until now was possible but in an armor set that lacked the skills/slots wanted) Now we have an "upgraded version" of that same set that lacked the slots along with giving us the same skill "crit element". Put simply, new AT velk gear allows for weapons without Crit element to have it, along with some good skills that the MR Velk set lacked, along with more slots for decos.
@get off my toe They are good, but on very few matchups. Monsters with terrible elemental hitzone values like Nergigante would take more damage using Fatalis' DB's over Alatreons.
im currently at the point in the game where i am getting ready to fight alatreon solo, havent faced fatalis. With a couple of friends we have been fighting AT Velkhana and i have about 6 velkhana tickets and 50 tempered icecrowns as well as 16 great spiritvein gems. But with that said, after searching for the armour at the smithy, i still am unable to craft the Velkhana gamma armour. Can someone explain to me why? is it because i havent beaten fatalis?
But but... I worked so long to get Kjarr Daggers of every element! 😑 that melding RNG was bullsh*t. Ah well. How do I get Taroth Weapons? Is that done through melding too?
Anyone knows why Kjarr Water build is recomended whilist Taroth Water build is stronger from the video (Since Tarorth Ice and Fire are recomended and they are both stronger than their Kjarr counterparts) TIA.
Sooo Safi Fire DB is pointless? Well i've wasted mats on trying to make a Fire DB with useable sharpness when I could've upgraded and augmented my Taroth Fire DB's...this is ridiculous given i'm now learning DB and now learning the Meta for it *sigh*
why is Safi duals, 2 piece velk, 2 piece fatty, 2 piece ala not on here? I have Velkana Divinity on the weapon and one piece of armor so I get crit element, elememntal conversion, and all secrets unlocked. that has to be highest elemental.
For two reasons: Safi dualblades have less raw AND less element than all shown weapons if you use 4 element awakens and one velk essence. The second reason is because Ala elemental conversion is a bad rate = every hard ele res jewel you add to the build(That takes a lot of comfort away) will only get you +10-20 (depending on rounding) element which is 2 effective element which is nothing, even defense boost level 6 only adds a single 10 element so you are waisting not only comfort but damage at the same time since you cant fit attack 7, either peak or coalescence etc.
If you are still in doubt you can simply use the honey hunter builder to compare the efr and efe from the build you envisioned to these builds, it's pretty easy and free to use and I highly recommend it.
@@lokyanvanadis9951 hmmmm. I see where you are coming from. I think I may be having the "know how but dont have the means to" bug in this game lol all my builds seem better but i guess its either because im either missing top tier jewels or the right kjarr in elemental weapon cases. I think I just need to farm kulve and the deco farm quests. (i cant bring myself to use release vitality with 4 piece fatlis lol it erks me. same with using release charm. i feel like im wasting space for skills to get a small damage increase at best)
@@A-Duck with that build, you get max out agitator, attack, dragon, coal and peak performance which give you the highest dmg alongside 200 stam, I agree with you that there’s no doubt better head piece out there for more comfort build.
I always make Deva's builds because I'm too lazy to do the research myself as a DB main, but I do wonder how these sets out-damage Safi 5-piece. It'd be nice if we had side-by-side comparisons between the sets.
He says near the beginning that these builds are around 3-5% weaker than Safi 5 pc. The logic is that the added comfort skills allows lesser hunters like us to stay more aggressive so we end up doing more damage over time. Speedrunners will just use Safi 5 pc because they never get hit anyway.

@@RPGeenius atleast Alatreon Dragon DB beats taroth and kjarr so thats 1 less element to farm.
I really enjoyed the latent power build you mad a while back...is that still good I haven't played the game in awhile

Very nice video, but what about the new status DBs meta? I wanna know which Blast dual blades I should roll with.
the taroth ice build is no sharpness management, its only 40(120) hits of white thats all.
Can someone explain why one would pick Kjarr over Taroth or the other way around? What's the difference anyway? 🙏
Will you be doing these kinds of builds with elemental charge blades?
Aka the y set from at velkana
One set makes you litterally immortal, the other destroys, take your pick whenever you want between the 2
@@lokixlegendx77 the velkhana y arms and helmet will make your set better now. I'll look into this. Thanks 👍!
@@RPGeenius they are pretty good for certain builds, for the chest and arms specifically, otherwise im gonna stick with the helm with divine blessing 2 default
Hey Deva i was wondering if a 3 piece safi and 2 piece fatalis with latent power would be good for dual blades?
The armor part yes, the latent power part no
@@Amoeba_Podre why I'm just curious cause it seem latent power would be more comfy??
@@twistedSoul88 Because you need 7 points into latent power and it's not even active all hunt.
@@rtiq270 then what would you recommend instead of latent power cause i don't know with what to replace it with
@@twistedSoul88 latent power is fine with Safi armor and dual blades. It has 2 min duration even lv 1 and you can trigger it easily with Safi armor and your combos. The stamina usage reduction is really also very comfortable, which results in higher dps uptime.
Of course u should prioritize other skill first like WEX, but LP is definitely not unusable. I use it and it's really comfortable. Deva also has LP build in his past videos too.
Actually you can always sell item with tag "trade in items"
Are you going to cover GS sets with the armor cause I out does fatalis from my experience
Coming back with the hot builds, or would it be cold since your fighting velkhana?
That Fire build hurts to see to be honest. I’ve always liked Kjarr weapons for the Crit element, but Rage daggers pissed me off cause of that stupid blue sharpness. And I don’t like NOT running 4pc Fatty.
can you make a video with all of your fatalis build wich can be upgraded with velkana?
Did it shake up the meta for charge blade? Are you making a video for it?
Really interesting builds. I thought even with Fatty the 5pc Safi was the most efficient, but this looks to beat them. Are you in the MHW or Mathalos discords by any chance? Id love to see a discussion on your builds versus theirs.
Edit -
There's a few times your text says "Velk/Safi" but the screenshots show Fatty/Safi.. if that matters :P Will be using the screenshotted builds anyway hehe. Examples are 7:22 and 7:52 if youre interested
I did some test based on several builds for Ice DBs, including builds shown on 4:48. And the result is a win for 5pc Safi, at least for me.
Compare with the Taroth Ice DB build on 4:48, the Kjarr Ice DB + 5 Safi with Agitator 5 and Resentment 5 is stronger or deal almost same damage on most ice weakened monsters and it can still fit in evade window 3, health boost 3, Protection Polish and 1 Marathon Runner.......What other comfort skills would you need except divine blessing or elemental resistance?
The breakpoint of damage between "Kjarr Ice DB + 5 Safi (Agi 5 + Rest 5 with comfort skills above)" and "Taroth Ice DB + 3 Fatty + 2 Velk" seems to be Attack Boost 7 and Coalescence. Since Peak Performance 3 = Resentment 5. Once I drop Attack Boost 7 for Evade Window and Protective Polish. And coalescence is not active. The raw damage skills cannot make up with the lose of element damage from Safi set bonus.
In conclusion, "Taroth Ice DB + 3 Fatty + 2 Velk" is also good in damage but way too situational. For example, most thunder weakened monsters does not give you elemental proc. And it does not exactly feel comfortable for me by losing evade window, protective polish and marathon runner.
These are just my personal conclusions and they are subject to any possible bias or fault. But for now. I would only tweak the 2 Velk + 3 Safi build for Aletron DB (Gains Coalensence 3 and rath family give you fire proc easily). As True Crit Element for Aletron DB does not outperform that much and that build is truly uncomfortable.
4ps Fatalis with Kjarr DBs......Based on the conclusion above I am not going to touch it for now. Technically, for a certain monster like Tigrex, more raw damage can slightly outperform element.
Deva gives some innovative ideas and make great videos, they are just not hitting my sweet spot :P
@@Spagote I would go for 4p Fatty and 1p (Head) AT Velki

What's a good build with the full rimeguard y armor and the dual blades?

1green hexagon = 1 times health augment
2x yellow = twice elem augment?
and what do the attack VI, V and so forth on the right mean?

Rarity 11 weapons can get extra augments, for elemental dual blades you do 5x element and 1 attack. If you go to the smithy with Kjarr or Taroth blades (after upgrading of course) you will have the regular augmentations and at the bottom of that list are these upgrades

@@chris-vd6gb Awesome, thank you! :D
Very impressive :-)
I'm sure you've tested the heck out of it but I'm having a hard time letting go of the concept that 5/5 Safi armor isn't the best...
@@-Samus-Aran- Coal lasts 90 seconds and can be refreshed.

For Example with a Hammer or LS build you can do every monster.

Can you do a meta build Video in 2023 if something has changed :D
Hey D. Why is taroth stronger then kjarr, I don't really get it. Can you maybe explain?
because the base raw and element values outweigh the native crit element of the Kjarr variant (A skill which until now was possible but in an armor set that lacked the skills/slots wanted) Now we have an "upgraded version" of that same set that lacked the slots along with giving us the same skill "crit element". Put simply, new AT velk gear allows for weapons without Crit element to have it, along with some good skills that the MR Velk set lacked, along with more slots for decos.

why is Safi duals, 2 piece velk, 2 piece fatty, 2 piece ala not on here?

I think I may be having the "know how but dont have the means to" bug in this game lol
all my builds seem better but i guess its either because im either missing top tier jewels or the right kjarr in elemental weapon cases. I think I just need to farm kulve and the deco farm quests.

The build at 4:00, why do you have one Rimeguard piece? You get no set bonus from just one. There are much better options to use here.
It's a kjarr dual blade. The crit element is built-in on the weapon itself, so the 2 PC. Velk bonus is no longer necessary.

5 piece safi is still good but 3 safi and 2 fatty beats them but also on the taroth sets 2 fatty 2 velkhana beats 5 safi also.
