Love this content. No 8 at my home course plays about 165. The only miss is short left so I take 130 club to the apron. I figure if I can go up and down from there 1 of 3 I have my scoring average down to 3.66. Which is lower than my handicaps average for holes that length. My mates always laugh at me, but I don’t take double.

At my home course the first four par 3s are fairly easy. They’re guarded by trees so no wind really effects them. But the last one is brutal. It always plays a club long and 75% of it is surrounded by water and bunkers both short and long. Generally when I play I treat all par 3s like 4s and 4s like 5. That way I can bogey those holes and not be mad at myself, using the par 5s to gain shots back since all the par 5s are fairly easy
Great call! Interesting that the last par 3 kind of sneaks up on you! And love that model of treating the holes as bogey holes, so much less to stress about that way. I do that with some holes too: we have a long par 4 and then a very long par 3 - I call them par 4.5 and 3.5 because a bogey is totally respectable!

Very interesting video. Trying to break 80 and this helps with the mental approach. I used to always get upset when I struggled on a par 3

total makes sense... My lowest score games are the ones handle par 3 the best. My worst score games (over 100) are the ones make +3 on par 3
Right?! There's also something about scoring badly on the par 3s that tends to bleed into the other holes and cause issues there...😬
