  • ADI Part 3 - Roundabouts (Real PDI lesson)
    Here the PDI has planned and delivers a great lesson on Roundabouts. He'll deliver the lesson to his trainer who will play the role of the pupil. The route planning is excellent as it is simple and meet the competence level of the pupil.
    There is a lesson briefing followed by a full talk through.
    The risk is managed well and learning takes place.

    Lots to take in there but thank you! I have my first SC in four weeks where I expect roundabouts, speed on approach and gaps will come into it so this was a good refresher. I was a bit concerned at a near two hour watch but was pleasantly surprised 😁

    Always check the left for old people driving the wrong way......always tell my pupils that.

    good video however you need to show your diagram to your viewers so they know exactly what they are seen .

      Totally agree. It's very frustrating not being able to see what they are discussing.

    Should the lesson planing take this long ? I thought we only supposed to spend 3 to 5 minutes on it during the test ?

    • @How-2-drive

      Correct, just 2 to 3 minutes to agree goals and responsibilities and get moving

    For a standards check do you have 25mins for a brief?

    • @HowardFloyd
      @HowardFloyd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No briefing on SC, just a quick recap at the start to agree goals and levels of help. 3 mins then get going

    How much time do I have to do the recap and set goals for this lesson because we get the wheels rolling?

      Aim for 3 minutes

    If they at roundabout level and we introducing it first time can we still talk thru mspsl like this pdi did
    Centre mirror left mirror etc?

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  ปีที่แล้ว

      Does the pupil need help with mirrors & signals? Could they have done it themselves? If so this is over instruction

  • @sabahhussain4613
    @sabahhussain4613 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    noticed the pdi saying center mirror left mirror but did not look at the pupil to see if he did look. and if the lesson was on turning left on roundabout would you still mention about turning rights etc?

    Hi Sir If u spending 30mints on just briefing every time is it fair for pupil? Paying £40 per hour 30mints just talk?

      Good point, briefings should be short, 5 minutes

    So how does this relate to a REAL part 3 test ?
    When I did mine I was told you've obviously talked about everything and get going with the lesson!
    I hadn't discussed anything and consequently failed, also told not to stop and discuss unless in an emergency, keep wheels turning...
    I had all this planned in and was not allowed

      Its now a 3 minute brief so the best way to approach this is that your picking up on a lesson half way through, so you would do your full discussion when picking the student up, then when you hop in the car with the examiner you would touch on what you had discussed previously and what you need to keep working on. Make sure to discuss how you're sharing responsibility.

    Would this amount of brief on a Part 3 be a fail ?

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, no briefings in part 3.. wheels moving for 40 mins.. Any explanations should be done before

    • @djcraney
      @djcraney ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Centre and left mirror, he says it centre left mirror to save valuable time to fit in all the other instructions he has to give
