Great video with awesome skills and attitudes on display.
The most interesting thing to me is the focus on and intricacy of the grip fighting. It seems to be about 70% of the battle and only once it is won - for a fleeting moment - is a throw possible.
For much of my time as a judo player (recreational level), the emphasis was the other way around. That made it hard in shiai where I'd often feel I had better judo (throws) than my opponent but couldn't get my grips.
    Interesting.

Travis you are a beast. Shintaro great job taking on a much bigger opponent. Greatly appreciate you both for the amazing info you have put out to help guys like me train during the pandemic.

May I add the 50lb weight difference? It made for unique dynamic

It's like wrestling a bear lol. Shintaro put up a hell of a fight especially considering the size difference. He had to work three times harder on everything he was trying to do. Great work, guys!

Props to Shintaro with the weight disparity. Not easy to be strong enough to stand with someone that much heavier. ✌🤙

AWESOME RANDORI, LOVE HONEST JUDO!! Looks like fun and judo is always applicable to real life self defense. Shintaro, make that big boy move and sweep him!! But he is so quick ! And the power on that shoulder throw, WOW! I think corona has made many of us fat and lazy due to the fear of partner practice, time to get back on the mat and practice!! Just be prudent about who you come in close contact with, Covid is still a worry.

This was a very good demonstration of the difference between what could be considered traditional defence orientated judo in Shintaro and sport orientated judo in Travis. Shintaro seemed to use any of the walls and what not around him to better his position or save himself, whilst Travis seemed to care much more about the rules and had much higher stamina. All around a great video between two great judoka.
