i tried doing this as you showed but when i tried finding tdc i found several marks on the fly wheel one is a notch and the other is a black mark which one is correct. can you post a picture of the correct marking in view port ?

One word of advice is to clean the engine before opening thus reducing any chances of dirt entering the motor.
My ttrs inspection cap is built into engine and there is also no cam gear plate that you can take off
