Prince Julian Macleod Tallano of the Tallano Tagean clan frequented the Vatican. In 1934, under Pope Pius XII, the Vatican negotiated with a member of the Filipino Royal Family, the Christian Tallano clan in Maharlika. An agreement was reached that 640,000 metric tons of the Tallano gold would be lent to the Pope. This was part of that gold accumulated by the Southeast Asian Srivijayan/Madjapahit Empire during its glorious reign of 900 years.Having gained the trust and confidence of Fr. Diaz, the Tallano clan made him the main negotiator and trustee of their gold. Fr. Diaz, in turn, hired the services of Atty. Ferdinand E. Marcos, then a highly recommended brilliant young lawyer having attained notoriety when he successfully defended himself in the “Nalundasan Case” in 1939. The Tallano clan paid commission to Fr. Diaz and Atty. Marcos in gold, 30% from the principal of 640,000 metric tons. In 1949, the two richest men in the world were Fr. Jose Antonio Diaz and Atty. Ferdinand E. Marcos. Between the two of them they legitimately earned and owned192,000 metric tons of gold. Real reason to freeze funds. Instead of leaving it to his children. IT WAS MEANT TO BE LEFT TO THE PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES!

The problem during President Marcos time was the Communists are being assisted by the American government clandestinely through the CIA, in it's propaganda efforts. The Church through the Roman Catholic Church were also infiltrated by the communists. Pres. Marcos was very lenient with the Benigno Aquino who is very active in campaigning against President Marcos. Helping him even in his hospitalization in the USA. Pres. Marcos was a victim of his own overconfidence, the communists eventually won the propanda campaign. Can I just say how shocking it is to see those video clips? Of people out in the streets with their signs and their chants. In school, they only ever mentioned the regime, its brutality in photos. Of course, we were told of what the people did and how they fought back.....but to see it in motion like this...to see citizens walking the streets with the red side of the flag up...feels unreal? This was such an eye opener.

Even Joma Sison was part of the 10 thousand claimants and actually received millions in compensation, for suffering while in detention for rising in arms to overthrow the govt. Hundreds of insurgents, cadres, activist leftist supporters were part of the 10 thousand claimants. Under Cory these rebels were freedom fighters. Soldiers and civilians actually died during their revolutionary struggle.

Corys' government returned or gave power, water, telcos, and other government owned or controlled companies to their cronies. The Ramos government sold a lot of public land to oligarchs. These are just a few examples of those who came next, so you cant blame ordinary Filipino citizens to become disillusioned with these past leaders and how they ran the country. They saw what the Duterte administration has done and felt a sense of pride in that. And combine this with how the Marcoses are positively portrayed on social media, you now have a people who want to experience the "golden age" of Marcos rule, that is why Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte won the 2022 national elections.

However the more than 3 decades of Cory Aquino and her cohorts reign resulted to stagnation of economy and alleviation of peoples well beings worsened and the people gradually awakened and voted a Mayor from Davao Mindanao Rodrigo Duterte as President last 2016 who proved himself the competence better than his predecessors. And to disprove that the Filipino people had more than enough of the lies peddled by scrupolous historians about former President Marcos, in the May 9, 2022 national elections more than 31million Filipinos voted overwhelmingly for Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos jr. as the next successor of Pres Duterte. Sad to say that the real reason why the Marcoses were able to successfully staged a come back was because since February 1986, the majority of those who went and supported those opposing the Marcoses didn't see any improvement as they thought they would get if the Marcoses would be ousted. That's REALITY no one can deny. Just my humble observation.

Being Filipino-American, it pains me to state this, but sometimes the Filipino people are too forgiving. Ferdinand Marcos looted an entire country; and to this day the Philippines is suffering because of it. Money that should be going to build things like roads, schools, infrastructure (eg, to cope with the country's frequent flooding during the wet season) and ships (to protect Philippine interests in the West Philippine/South China Sea) instead lines the Marcos family's pockets. The Marcoses have no shame. In Tagalog, "Talagang walang hiya sila".
