I have arthritis, and got that jar opener a year ago. It has never failed me. It even works with those little twisty caps on the sloped sides of cartons. It's a godsend for people with any kind of hand issues.
Recently saw a video suggesting to boil the eggs and then break the shells and then chill them in cold water. Peel once cooled. No gadget needed. I’ve had a bendable chopping board for 15 years. Love it !!
For the omelet maker, put anything that needs more cook time in while it's warming up then add the egg and other ingredients after to finish cooking. I even chop bacon and cook it in there first and it works great. Also, the little halves fit perfectly into a standard tortilla!
That jar opener is amazing!! Thank you for showing me this as my nan has really bad arthritis in her hands and finds it very difficult to open jars and things so I’m sure that would be amazing to help her find it more easy
7:35 have egg prices shot up in the UK as much as here in the US? 4-6 months ago, i could get a dozen eggs at Lidl for 94 cents/$0.94; last week that same box of eggs at the same location were priced at $5.34...
Honestly I'm in love with the fact Barry has grown so much as a person and his channel brings me joy. I remember when he was like nobody would ever use these gadgets, now he's like well people who might have disabilities this might be helpful for them, like actual functionality.
I've had the cutting board for a couple of years now, and I use it all the time. It's relatively light but still sturdy. I like it, because I am quite clumsy. 😅
The membrane egg gadget could help someone with sensory issues. Speaking from experience sensory issues with food can be quite debilitating at times though the membrane isn’t something I personally experience as one of my food issues, there is a texture difference between an egg with a membrane and an egg without. Love when you can showcase gadgets that may help with sensory issues! I mostly use blender and strainer for many texture I want out of food but new gadgets to help widen the diet of anyone experiencing sensory issues is very good.
I own that egg peeler and love it. I used to raise silkie chickens and they had very hard and sharp shells that really hurt my hands when I peeled a dozen or more so I bought it and love it. So it works on small or large eggs.
I look forward to your next collaborations with Stewart. The two of you work well together, though I know how tough it can be given he's all the way out in Norwich.
So pleased to find someone else who calls French toast 'eggy bread'. That's what were always called it in my family, too, so I got major nostalgia vibes hearing it again!
@@catpalmer2093 Lots of people think they're the same (and they are similar)! I wonder if it's because the two different versions are more popular on either side of the pond, so people just think it's like nappies/diapers or sidewalk/pavement where they're different words for the same thing.
I have that jar opener I tend to use it on stubborn ones as I have a textured circle of silicone that just adds grip for the easier ones but that jar opener is brilliant it sorta dents the jar lid a little if you tighten it up too much but it has never failed me. I have an illness that makes my grip strength variable and that and the silicone circle have been the best additions to my kitchen.
I was gifted one of those LeKue bread maker and its been fantastic. Being silicon it moves and flexes when you're hands on and working the dough which was a wee bit strange at first but unlike silicon bakeware it lets the dough rise and get baked without swelling at the sides so much it gets jammed in. I'd still suggest that as with a metal loaf tin it helps to pop it out and have its final 10 minutes of a bake upside down since the silicon does seem to make the bottom get steamed a bit more. For a thicker looking loaf keep the tab in the slot so the bread isn't pulled flat.
I only discovered this series a few weeks ago and I have just finished watching the last episode and I have loved every episode. I especially like when things go wrong and your expression when it happens. I also found it very funny when you have problems but Mrs Barry works out what you did wrong almost immediately
Can you do an updated video of your favourite gadgets at some point? without your last one, i never would have found the most awesome veggie cutter and my jar key because i completely lost the link to buy them in your playlist! :)
Fun video! Just got the battery powered RoboTwist. Love it! Want to go to neighbors and ask if they need a jar opened. One of my favorite early morning infomercials was the one with the lady using the omelet maker. She had a special shaped spatula to take food out.
When it comes to jars, I keep some thick elastic bands that hold produce (like broccoli) together. Then you have a much better grip on the glass if you need both hands!
You have to cook the potatoes beforehand for a Spanish omelette, Barry. They’re tricky things. Just throwing them in with the egg won’t do. Egg cooks almost immediately. Spuds need to be cooked apart.
Oh, Barry, Barry. I'm just about to pop in the mail a Jar Opener that is tiny, effortless and Canadian! So many people I know here have this, from a company called Lee Valley Tools, and when we cleaned out my parents' place we found THREE unopened ones. So I'm sending one to you! 💕 Can't wait to see what you think! Loving this gadget video, as always!
Does it look like a bottle opener? I've used one for years you use like a bottle opener and it breaks the seal. The bottle is then effortless to open. I live in Australia.
@@mrbarrylewis serious question . I know covid and stuff and you asked for help to start your pizza or shop and asked people to help you what's happening with it still going ahead or shelved
I’ve always loved watching the food gadget infomercials as a kid for some reason and I distinctly remember the presto omelette thing! I always wanted one. 😂 those and the miracle blade III series knives. 🤣
I kind of like the idea of the folding cutting board, but it would make much more sense to me to have the folds the other way around so that the smaller opening is opposite of the handle. Kind of like a funnel. I think it would be even better for depositing you choppings into a pan or even into a smaller container.
I've had one of those koom rikon jar openers for years. It's purple 💜 I couldn't manage in the kitchen without it, my son used to have to open all the jars I would need for a few days for me after he moved out, or I wouldn't be able to eat certain things. Would certainly recommend for anyone, but you do need both hands to work to use it, one to grip the jar and one to turn the handle of the opener. I also have a foldable chopping board. When they are new, they are good, but after a while, they don't stay flat, so it makes chopping a bit difficult. Good idea in theory, but not so much in practice unfortunately 😕
Your kitchen gadgets videos are fantastic! The way you see how they work like we do is very amusing and sometimes funny! Love Boston in the videos also. Keep singing “Bwawawa”!😊😂🐾
I've got the Chef'n'Go Garlic mincer. It is brilliant. Think I saw it on here ages ago. What I like about it is you can prep the garlic an hour or two in advance and just leave it in the gadget and it won't dry out. I've also got a similar omelette maker I bought from Aldi about 5 or 6 years ago. They were selling them off and I got mine for £7. It's really good too. Must get that jar opener. Love these videos Barry.
Don't forget we like to hear your opinions on stuff! I've seen that chopping board a few times online and don't know how sturdy it feels to chop on or if there's really much point to it 😅
I have had one for about ten years, and it seems to hold up well. I do not use it everyday, as I prefer a wooden chopping board, but it is good for soups and whenever I handle a lot of veggies. The plastic is much sturdier than the cheap plastic cutting board we use for fish and meat. The only downside is that the handle doesn't lie flat, so it takes up excess room in my drawer. This might be solved in the newer + model.
I think one episode you should invite someone you know who has dexterity issues to try the jar opener ect. That way people with dexterity issues get a true idea of how they work
I was really interested in the bread maker. I checked it out on Amazon and it's $33.98, US price. It got 5 star rating. The company makes a number of kitchen gadgets. I purchased the jar opener from QVC after seeing it on your video. I have a real problem with my hands and this will really help. This was a great video, thank you
I have this, bought a big one and a small one. I haven't used a bread mix yet, I used bread flour, dried yest, etc. I kneaded it in there, let it prove in there, baked it in there. In mine though it did say to close the "lid". It made a very artisan looking loaf and it was well cooked. More steps but easy clean up.
The jar opener is probably one of the best ones yet. Simple to use, no unnecessary batteries just a clever use of physics. Only downside is, it's quite bulky.

I just found this dangerous channel. Dangerous because I love kitchen gadgets ❤
You started the series years ago, yet you are still in S1. Love that.
😂 true. Never noticed that. Still, every episode is a must watch.
😂😂😂
That's because season 2 is the dedicated single gadget videos and season 1 is multiple gadgets in a single video.
Maybe he should have changed the seasons up one each year. 1 season for each year
Tbf it is a series of videos. It doesn't need seasons that would be pointless
Yes! This series is an absolute classic and barry's reactions always get a laugh out of me!

French toast is different to eggy bread. Eggy bread is just that: eggs and bread. Whereas french toast is sweet with added sugar and cinnamon.
