  • Smooth on/off throttle - 99% fixed (bike is much safer)
    constant throttle - easy to maintain speed
    acceleration - drastic increase, and more responsive
    jump to sections by clicking time
    @0:00 - no PCv - snatchy throttle
    @1:05 - no PCv - jerky constant throttle
    @1:47 - no PCv - 4th gear 60-130mph
    @2:20 - with PCv - smooth throttle
    @2:57 - with PCv - easy constant throttle
    @3:35 - with PCv - 4th gear 60-130mph
    60-130mph (7:19sec - 6:00sec)
    Acceleration tests are done on a closed course.
    Tests were done at the same air temperature, same
    stretch of the track, same time of the day, same fuel
    type, same fuel load. They are unscientific but prove
    the point.
    At the end of the day the bike is safer, faster. Its
    better on the track and on the road.
    I installed the dynojet on the stock bike with the preinstalled map for the gsxs1000
    Even as a commuter and track goer with plenty of experience... i could handle the issue but would rather not.
    I have no affiliation with dynojet or anyone that works there but thank god for these guys....

    I got the 2018 z version and the snatch and constant speed is still evident especially with a bit of chain stretch it's almost impossible (dangerous) to ride slow in traffic. The 2019 is out and the dealer is putting PC V's on before selling with after market yoshi pipes. I've ordered mine and hopefully it will fix the problems 99% as you say. Also putting a G2 throttle tamer on it.Thanks for your informative video, it's still relevant several years later.

    can you tell me did you buy and install PCV only ? or install PCV and doing something with ECU ?
    I cut my pipe decat half and install Leovince LV pro carbon . And now i have little hole on a middle rpm and also snatchy throttle like you.
    If i buy PCV and connect that will be enough ? i saw on PCV site some Leovince slip-on map to PCV for gsxs 1000

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      to better help you... I wanted to say that the fuel map that you download or make yourself (with auto tune or a professional dyno) is based on the air intake/exhaust of your bike. The video I posted is for a stock bike (intake/exhaust) and with the default fuel map on the PCv. Since you changed your exhaust you will need a different fuel map. Likely to add more fuel. • @hellomihai

      the spits and sputter are also due to the PAIR valve. You need to block it. TH-cam some videos on that. It shoots extra air into the exhaust to combust unburnt fuel.

    The GSXR riders have this also, just to a lesser extend. They tend to move the TPS upwards to fix the snappy throttle. Its called the 'herky jerky' or something in the forums. Perhaps that can benefit the GSXS also? I have had the same problem with my GSR600 K9. Now on a GSXR750 K8, not that much on the foreground. Perhaps I will also adjust the TPS.

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 2016 GSX-S 1000. Just bought it brand new out of the box. I had Full M4 exhaust, K&N air filter and PCV installed. The bike doesn't like riding around town especially around 2-3k RPMs. Dynojet only has one map and its for stock exhaust. Did you have someone build you a map? I only have one option for DYNO near me and he starts at $400.00

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey congrats on the new bike. Instead of the dyno i would recommend finding a map that is similar to your setup and just buying the auto tune. A dyno map is static. If you use different fuel, or ride up to a different altitude your map wont work well. Thus an auto-tune will be really good. And allow you to build a new map (albeit slow) if you do any other modifications.

    remove the 2mm of throttle play = no snatchy throttle.

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not quite. This is an issue caused but a very bad fuel map meant to pass strict emissions. Also theres a fuel cut off thats too abrupt exasperating the issue. A pcv or ecu flash is needed to get at the source of the problem and the bike STILL passes emissions. Suzuki just played it very safe with this fuel map...

    @konnekt562 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks for replying.. I'm really am interested in getting this bike but was on the fence with all the reports of the snatchy throttle but it seems like u were able resolve the issue with just the pcv alone... still don't like the idea of the hassle to fix a bike that's brand new...did u install the pcv yourself? I'm not really experienced with working on bikes, not sure how much it would cost me to have it done or if it's something I could try and do myself...

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im pretty experienced but its really not that hard of a job. You also have the option of removing the ecu and mailing it for a reflash... just choose someone that does a woolrich flash like schnitzracing. Also how cheap these bikes are to the competition s1000r and others its very well worth it.

    Why is everyone calling this an issue? The instant throttle response is a common trait with Suzuki bikes.

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      its not just instant but a very hard snap. Stress on the chain, tire and most importantly very unsafe to open the throttle in a corner. Had several slides on the track due to this and after it was a much safer ride.

      No, it's not "instant throttle response." It's very lean fueling which causes surging. Add to that sloppy throttle tube cables and you got a mechanical bull to ride.

    Looking at one of these next year I think......... Do you think that an ECU flash would be better than a power commander as I have heard that you can make changes such as exhaust, air filter etc without the need to change anything on the ECU

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ecu flash is good for removing certain limitations. Top speed, timing, when to open the secondary flaps, fuel cutoff (which helps with the snappy throttle) but the PCv is the one that allows you to adjust fueling for whatever changes you make on the bike easily. With an ecu flash, youd have to flash it each time and youll need a dyno and a really good tech to get the air:fuel map spot on. I dont like being dependant on that so i got the ecu flash for removing limitors and pcv+autotune for the map.

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well yes and no... suzuki is not unique in this problem (motodna.net/jerky-motorcycle-throttles/)... one of the worst bikes is the yamaha fz-09... and there are many more. The fuel mixture is pushed to the limits so the emissions pass. Other manufacturers like bmw have better solutions but are more expensive. My video is to demonstrate taking a suzuki which is more reliable than a bmw and with an easy modification, smooth out the throttle, and release a lot of power. Cheaper, more reliable... Win.. win...

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey, not familiar with the 750. But a pcv is meant to fix fueling issues by applying a map. Any changes you do on the bike will make it run not-optimized. A pcv allows you to get it back on an optimal path. Essentially i would recommend a pcv for stock and especially for mods like exaust

    • @hellomihai
      @hellomihai  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Except a fuel module simply modifies the signal sent from the ECU, changing the fueling. It is a good start for fueling issues, but most factory bikes have a lot more issues that a piggyback module will never address. Change the coding at the source and everything gets fixed.
      An ECU reflash does a lot more:
      Improve Fuel & Ignition Maps
      Eliminate Factory Throttle Restrictions
      Optimize Throttle Maps
      Eliminate Timing Retard
      Increase Rev Limit
      Remove Factory Top Speed Limiter(s)
      Eliminate Factory Fuel Cut
      Optimize Off-Throttle (Decel) Mapping
      Lower radiator fan trip-on temp
      Disable Factory Error Code(s): Exhaust Servo Motor/Valve, Pair Valve System (Smog Valve), O2 Sensor/Lambda and more..

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on what model motorcycle and where in the USA you live. Most shops have a mail-in service, just send the ECU to them for a flash and they return it. Plug and play. You specify the sort of hardware changes you've done, the make and model and year, and they apply the changes. If you want to leave the fuel changes to a module, I recommend doing the ECU flash without the fuel changes and adjusting the fuel with a module at a dyno shop.
      Some motorcycles have a much worse time from factory than others. Some can benefit a lot more with a full flash, others you will notice somewhat less. The cost of flashing depends on the shop, and how much work they are doing in the brains. All of that is negotiable with you the consumer. Some offer unlimited reflashes if you should need them later for adjustments, or for further hardware changes. Some require a small fee for reflashes (including flashing back to OEM stock).

If you have a different setup I recommend trying a few maps found on dynojets website and see which one helps. This is for sure a fueling issue. It was a clear difference for me and I really would refuse to live with the bike the way it was before the pcv. Currently I have no snatch at all.

      +youdrpatulot also check gsxs1000.org for more reading material on this matter and more opinions.

      +youdrpatulot also check your TPS setting. Some have had them very offset making the issue worse.

      +youdrpatulot also there are two versions of the pcv depending on local laws. For example the pcv legal in some us states, I believe California is the strict one it only works above 7k rpm making it useless. Make sure you have the regular version that can be mapped at all rpms

    I pay for a snatchy throttle. It's consistent and what I expect when riding a litre bike! I could see the benefit if tracking but not for my street use!

      outside of the track.... when your girlfriend bangs her helmet into yours because she thinks you're doing intentionally its kinda funny 😂... but when you're in the rain and the rear slips its scary...

      Ph ph you cannot engage the gas from 0% without the bike bucking like an angry horse.

      +Mark Miller hey that's great. Might be that you got lucky and it really is smooth. Or you might just have a super smooth wrist. Either way. All that matters is that you're comfortable.

      Pissed off I have to sink another £800 into the bike to rectify a build issue!

      its caused by the emissions requirements and using this really brings the bike back to life. Well worth it.
