  • If I were to start over as a voice actor, and if I were to get my very first interface on a limited budget, it would be this one: The Behringer UMC 204 HD. The Motu M2 would be the upgrade.

    Agree. I started with a 404hd, and when I decided I wanted a "more pro" brand got an SSL2. Frankly I didn't notice any significant quality difference in the SSL2 over my 404.
    Behringer has a stigma, that I don't think it really deserves, they do in fact make quality gear at a low price point.

    When playing audio in a computer connected to the UMC204hd and headphones connected to the interface will it play audio at 192 kHz?

    this is the video i was looking for all day long! I have the same beyerdynamics headphones , but before the purchase I didn't know that they would need a pre-amp. Currently I am waiting to get my sampler what I preordered. One important thing: can I listen to spotify, youtube or play games and hear the audio when my headphones are plugged into the interface, so does it have an audio output? I am newbie in this, sorry for the dumb questions :)))

      Hi Roland! Theses questions aren't dumb at all! If I'm investing a good amount of money into tech, I'd want to make sure it does all I expect it to, so your concerns make sense. :) Yes, audio interfaces are great for that! Whenever I test an audio interface or headphones, I would always listen to epic Halo 3 music with its wide range of musical instruments and dynamic range, to see if I'm going to enjoy the overall experience. The beyers are LOVELY for that, and super comfortable, too. It's like having a theater sound system around your head! Enjoy your new interface and headphones!

      @@DaveSoltura awesome, thank you! It was a close fight between this and the focusrite 2i2, but I didn’t really want to spend the extra money if the u-phoria 204 is just as good for cheaper. I’m gonna pair a Shure SM-57 with it and I should be all set :)

    Why would you say the motu sounds better?

    • @DaveSoltura
      @DaveSoltura  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It sounds "fuller" overall. I'd say a 10% difference from the Behringer. But you'd be paying about twice is much for that 10% improvement, so it's really up to you if it's worth it!

    As someone who used a lot of Behringer stuff in the past, I can say that their digital to analog converters suck and start to generate noise over time

      @@DaveSoltura I've used the umc202hd, umc404hd, and a xenyx 302 usb, all 3 of them have that issue with static being audible on the pc audio coming in to the interface/mixer

      @@dunste123 Appreciate you sharing your findings. How long would you say "over time" was before you started getting static?

      @@DaveSoltura Really depends on the product, my 404HD after a couple of months and my 202HD is starting to get it now after 2 years

    • @DaveSoltura

      @@dunste123 It seems to be a combination of a specific product model and being dealt a bad hand. On one hand, you'll rarely ever hear of horror stories with the Shure SM58. On the other hand, I've also had bad experiences with equipment in the past-- my flagship Audio Technica ATH M70X headphone band snapped in a year, given my head is small, and under minimal use. I bought it, even though my director told me his Audio Technica Headphones snapped. Yet, others get theirs to last a longer time. My AT2020 USB's have always outlasted my use, to the point I got to resell them. The Motu M2 I have right now works great but also experiences dropouts, which I don't ever get on the Behringer. It seems to be the least stable of any interface I've owned. My Presonus Studio 68, though has served me well for almost 3 years now, but people have had other experiences on it.
