I played here last year for Father’s Day and it’s so beautiful. Unfortunately I swung out of my old golf shoes and had to play in socks the rest of the round because the course never comes back to the clubhouse (should have golfed barefoot John Daly style in hindsight). But I’m playing it with him again today for Father’s Day so it’s time for some redemptio!
I played The Ravines earlier today, we were only able to get the first nine in due to rain but it was a great experience and I agree with your assessment of the course, at least the portion I was able to play. First hole was a par for me which as a beginner I was stoked about!
So glad to hear! You will have to play the back 9 and some point because it is really nice, even more elevation and scenic holes. Congrats on the first hole too! A great way to start the round :)
Playing Ravines tomorrow, definitely love the layout. Been years since I played it though, walked that b!tch 20 years ago and never again. Still need to get on Dubs but for what it's worth, I'd rather play the Ravines for now.
I love it there! That 5th hole is one of my favorites. It will likely be featured in my upcoming video on the Top 10 public golf courses in Illinois :)
Prairie Landing definitely top 3 of public courses in Chicagoland. Unfortunately, all the "awards" they have won over the years has only done nothing but skyrocket the greens fees (hate those "awards"). ATM Highlands of Elgin is the best price point that's on par with Prairie.
Great video and all but I would not call the Ravines a Hidden gem, gem yes hidden no, tee times are tough to get in the summer, Palmira, now there’s a hidden gem.
I have to disagree...emphatically! The Ravines, while nice, has serious flaws when it comes to golf holes. #1 is a throw away hole. #2 throw away hole. Right out of the gate, two short par 4's that have no character, and are just blah. #5 is just an uphill par 4 with zero character. As you wrap around through the ravines in the middle of the round, we get some interesting holes, but then #18 is the final throw away hole, and a bad taste in the mouth to end your day. I would argue that courses 1 and 3 have better holes and overall appeal and value than #2. I would agree with most that Dubs is overpriced at $160, but they ride the coat tails of the Western Open, and Tiger's triumphs there. Its a solid track, and an overly stern test of ball striking and iron precision. Better bring a sand game that was forged in Mickelson's basement. To pay $78 to play the Ravines as opposed to $160 Dubs, its a no brainer. Dubs, better value, hands down. In fact, $78 to play the Ravines is criminal, considering the value of golf in Chicago, but thats a bit off topic to your point. Keep up the great work! I just had a strong opinion on this one! Jeff
#1 is pretty bad - I think play that one from the backs even if you’re playing up tees for the rest. Or just play 10 off Dubs instead of no one is around haha.
I been on binge watching these because I work maintenance there and it just interesting to see Golfers perspective.
Thanks for the review! Played it today and rely enjoyed it. Some beautiful holes!
So glad to hear James! You can’t beat that value either!

Very well said. Definitely going to go give the Ravines a play

Totally agree, awesome value at the Ravines!
I agree well said! Love the shots!
Thank you!
You should do a video on Prairie Landing in West Chicago!

@@jstone4071 I couldn’t agree more!!
Totally agree. I enjoyed the Ravines over DubsDread! Every time!! Way better value!! Skip Dubs, go straight to The Ravines!!
Hey, I know why you would like this course so much!
Quality shots 👍🏼
Thanks for the love Chris!
Thanks for the information! I’ll check it out!
Of course!!
Answer is yes 👍
Great minds think alike! :)

Whitetail Ridge & Prairie Landing
As someone who lives basically next to cog and spend a lot of time there. Course 2 is 100x worth it than dubs.
Regulars hate #10. It's just an unfair hole.

It's clearly a much better value than Dubs.
