Great job and great video.Leg 4 seems like tough going but you breezed it!!! Wasdale is a great spot.

Thank you, I don’t know about breezing it - it was certainly tough going at times.

Excellent video. Both of you were moving well over some tricky ground. Fancy a crack at the round one day? Definitely doable. Awesome video, as always 👍

Thanks Johnny, appreciate your comments 👍
We had a go (unsupported) last February but stopped after Fairfield. The weather was getting worse and didn’t fancy an overnight over Leg 3 in those conditions. It was more of a sensible decision rather than a forced one. That said, I don’t think we had any hope of a sub 24 but knew that from the off, it was all about just the two of just trying to complete the course.
I’m sure we’ll have another crack at some point but a winter round probably isn’t the best option for us 😂

@@TrailRunningCouple I remember watching the video, looked grim. Definitely the right call. Winter and unsupported is proper hardcore. I definitely think you'd both be in with a shout on a spring/summer/autumn round &/or supported. I got round mine and I'm no racing snake. Keep up the great work 👍

Thank you. It seems doable when broken down into legs but the whole lot seems a massive prospect. One day…

after doing a claggy snowy Leg 4 the other week was nice to see what it should look like, following fence line into honister in the pitch black was a big mistake for us!

It’s not great at the best of times but yes, I can imagine. Bet it was quite the experience!!

Thanks again for your comments Martin. Definitely lots of clag with the occasion rain patch. Got a little chilly on some of the tops but had a great time as per usual 👍

Near perfect route choices (e.g. in the western traverse of Stirrup Crag and the western arc to Honister rather than following the fence). On the way to Pillar maybe going a bit closer to Black Crag summit but that is a minor improvement. Would you consider ankle and shin protection and maybe light leather gloves and elbow cover? Most BG finishers have had a few falls en route.
My impression was that you were going at a 20-hour pace rather than a 24 hour pace - I guess that from the heaviness and rate of your breathing and the vigour with which you were running up inclines in the second half of the video. That's OK for training. But remember that a full BG Round can be done without the heart rate exceeding 150 (and that is a pleasant and relaxing way to do it).

Thank you once again, your advice is extremely welcome and encouraging. We recce’d all the legs to get a feel for what would be required to complete a BG, even doing a leg 2 out and back into the night which felt surprisingly good!
We then considered how we would manage all five legs in one go and it felt a little overwhelming. It’s not something we would ever rule out but it’s definitely not in our current plans. Neither of us handle pressure too well and just like the idea of being out on the fells without targets. Maybe one day 🤔
All five legs off a different experience, we love all of them and will be back on the route again this year for sure.
