    My favorite SE dino is the Oviraptor because it can solo the Alpha Rockwell boss from Extinction :3, just kidding.
    I love Megatheriums for Scorched Earth, they have an Apex complex and they can almost Perma Berserk though the high desert, making short work of Deathworms even the Alphas!!! and being awesome Black Pearl farmers.
    Just remember that they have 2 attacks, one the claw swing and the other an area kind of stomp. and the stomp is very powerful and thats the best attack to deal with those nasty Deathworms.

    A week ago I started a new SE save, and was running around on my starter parasaur and found one on accident. Tamed it up with oil jars and a torch, although it was a freakin level 5. The worst best day on SE ever. Wyvern eggs have never been easier to get though.

    List was pretty good phlinger!
    Here's my personal preference tho!
    1. Equus, its also around and is one of the easier tames to get. Although the area its in can cause some major problems especially if theres a ton of threats like daedons,rexes,etc thats the only downside to taming one of these guys but if you manage to tame one it can be one of the best sateting tames. I also vote a parasaur for this spot as well as it can detect enemies and be another useful berry gathering tame early on as well
    2. Morellatops, good for storing and keeping water especially since weather is heavily focused on here and water is a constant pain to find/get.
    3. Jerboa, same reason you listed, very helpful on this map especially to warn you of the upcoming extreme weather changes
    4. Doedic/Anky I always need these two, anky cause it gathers a ton of metal and flint and doedic cause of its stone gathering. I always pair these two up as to me they're always going to be one of the most essential tames
    5. Argy, while im personally not a fan of them and don't really use them at all, they're always great for their saddles, weight reduction and weight carrying capacity. Best to team it up with both the anky and doedic.
    6. Rexes, not a fan of them either but if you want a sure way of beating the manticore boss fight, a rex army is your go to for sure and that way the manticore would actually land lol
    7. Yuty, this is pretty self explanatory really, its your boss beating buddy, helpsboost your dinos attacks
    8. Daeodon, your healer and who doesn't need a healing dino? Its painful to manually force feed a tame to get them all healed up
    9. Phoenix, i love,LOVE these guys and feel bummed out how rare they are. I love that they poop pearls, cook meat, heat up metal and on top of that can be good to steal wyvern eggs/kill wyverns with their charge attack ofc as they're one of the slowest moving but tbh i can get past that as they're so fun to use overall
    10. Lighting wyvern would actually be the most popular tbh, as youve said, it dishes the most damage and who doesn't like wielding electricity as a weapon? Although if you want to tame phoenixes, fight alpha wyverns and even breed your magmasaurs, fire wyvern is definitely second choice! Poison is only good for pvp situations.
    Anyways the order doesn't reflect its usefulness just my personal picks! This was a very good list tho phlinger!

    Ya your list was on point. of course the hardest part is finding a great base location close to areas for leveling up Rex's. mine keep getting stuck on trees, and Rocks, and Morellatops.

    Phlinger my favorite wyvern is the lightning wyvern. I have a custom bred one, the result of lots of breeding from four level 190s I procured from frequenting the trench, and combining the best stats from all of the parents. I put just enough stats into her stamina to allow for three consecutive shots of her lighting breath, a little in weight, a little in health, and absolutely everything else into melee. Her name of Railgun and she can kill a wild giga in a single shot.

  • @jojomaster7675
    @jojomaster7675 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'd agree except for a few things:
    1) Replace the thyla with the fire wyvern at n.2 (split from fire/lightning, as it's objectively worse than lightning), then put the Poison wyvern at n.5 insted of the golem.
    2) The Thyla should go at n.8 instead of the poison that's now at n.5. It's good, but by the time you can get a thyla, you can also get a wyvern. (Mutton is hard to find on SE as well as the highest kibble). And if you have a Wyvern, the Thyla isn't as good as it otherwise would be, thus n.2 isn't justifiable anymore.
    3) Golem isn't useful enough to be on the list. it's strong and tanky, but that's it. Add it as honorary mention instead.
    4) Thorny Dragon and Doed should be honorary mentions as well. The Mantis is good, but overall a later game tame and has low carry weight as well as no weight reduction. TD and Doed are still important, anky not as much as metal is easily carryable via argy.
    If you disagree (not just Phlinger, but anyone else reading this), I'm always up for a debate as long as you keep it non-toxic.

    • @KaliFortuna
      @KaliFortuna 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Respectfully disagree about the fire wyvern being objectively worse than the lightning. Reasoning being, all alpha wyverns are fire ones, and unless you’re experienced at wyvern dogfighting, being immune to the flame breath makes taking out the alphas much easier. Just park in the air and bite when they come to you, making collecting their milk much simpler (especially for a solo PvE situation).
      Otherwise largely agree with your adjustments. If you bring a source of exceptional kibble from another map then thylas are easy, but for a fresh start they’re late-game at best.

    • @jojomaster7675
      @jojomaster7675 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KaliFortuna And that's their use. Fire Wyverns are used against alphas and maybe a phoenix tame if you want it. But you aren't gonna be doing that all the time. It's a very niche use. And neither of the Fire wyvern uses are something necessary or even too important.
      Phoenixes are simply a cool shiny thing without much practical use. And as for the Alpha, you can fairly easily take down a low level with a lightning, or you don't need to take one down at all and just ko wyverns for milk.
      Overall it's worse than a lightning at everything else, which is why I said what I did. Though it's possible I used a word or 2 in a wrong way, as english is my 2nd language.
      Yeah. I was ranking it on how (I believe) Phlinger meant to rank, which is SE only PVE. If you had transfers, you might as well just bring a rock drake, Shadowmane or so on, so the ranking would be very different.

    I thought I'd add a few of my own favorite tips...
    1. Bolas are your friend for fast taming targets like Procoptodons. EDIT: Well, it WAS your friend. Bolas were hit with a big nerf after the Net caster was introduced under Genesis Pt. 2. And many bola targets can no longer be immobilized by them, including Procoptodons.
    2. There is a long tunnel due east of the Red Obelisk that's a great resource site: the whole length of the underground route is lined with metal, crystal, and sulfur. And no creatures spawn inside it, or at least none did when my guild did Scorched Earth when it came out.
    3. If I stood on the back of a wyvern, I could tranq even a Rex, and the creature would not attack me. It seemed the dino could not recognize a path to me. It's been a few years since I've visited Scorched Earth, so that may be fixed by now, or now that I think about it, it could be deemed exploit-like, but I thought it was interesting. YMMV.
    4. I would rank a Tapejara ahead of a Thylacoleo as a good mount for stealing wyvern eggs. Again, YMMV between the two, but my personal preference is to FLY out of the trench. And the high maneuverability of the Tappy is great for evading wyvern attacks.

  • @jeffcolbert2019
    @jeffcolbert2019 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    One correction: You said the best foods for taming a Thyla are Raw Mutton and Exceptional Kibble. While Exceptional Kibble is the best choice, Thylas are fairly unique in that they prefer cooked meats to their raw counterparts. In fact according to Dododex, Cooked Lambchops (i.e., cooked mutton) is a bit over twice as effective as Raw Mutton and even Cooked Prime Meat out performs Raw Mutton. In descending order of effectiveness, your choices are Exceptional Kibble, Cooked Lambchops, Cooked Prime Meat, Raw Mutton, then Cooked Meat.
    This is different than the norm for Carnivores, which would be (preferred) Kibble, Raw Mutton, then Raw Prime Meat with the cooked versions being less effective.
    So for a Thyla, bring Cooked Mutton if you don't have Exceptional Kibble.

      The fire wyvern is required for Phoenix taming and very helpful (almost necessary) to take down alpha wyverns. I'd say it's a bit more useful than a poison (though it looks worse), but a lightning is still better.
      The Poison is good, but it becomes basically useless after you get a lightning. It has worse DPS and is more annoying to use. Though it is (imo) the best looking of all the wyverns in the game. Especially if you get a gold/dark green one.

      @@MacCay27 Taming one with a flamethrower gives horrible efficiency, is expensive and annoying. You also need a high-rarity one unless you have very high rates. Fire wyvern is the only way that allows you to keep your sanity.
      I'm mostly talking in terms of SE. Wasn't planning to drag any other DLCs in. Definitely not ones where they don't spawn.
      They have very high hp. If you can defeat one with an owl, you have overly boosted tame stats. That doesn't count. A 190 alpha wyvern can have above 50k HP. But that's not the biggest thing. They deal % damage with their breath. Trying to take down one in a creature that can take damage from it is risky. Even high level Lightnings can die from alphas.
      I'd give different buffs.
      Lightning is fine.
      Fire needs melee scaling for DOT.
      Ice needs either as you said, true freeze breath, or just a damage increase, or maybe damage reduction could be nice.
      Poison needs better aiming, faster projectile and rider immunity to own wyvern's breath.
      Crystal are completely fine, as they're *very* easy tames.
      Voidwyrm is impossible to make useful in PVE while not making it broken PVP wise.
      Also, please use sentences. It's hard to read your replies when they're 1 huge blob with no breaks in the text.

      @@MacCay27 They did seem boosted to me. Though if you stack 100 mutations ontop of each other, then that is another explanation.
      I simply found it weird that you could kill them with an owl, while i recently fought a lvl 204 (I use difficulty 6) with my very leveled near max level wild hatch fire wyvern and took around 12k damage. And that was with constantly hitting it for 600 (at least 3x per one of it's bites). (And also fire wyvern, so breath didn't damage it.)
      I'd like to see your owls stats/stat points if you don't mind. Just kinda interested at what feathery beast you created.
