He seems to know like 7 languages very well. His Italian content is very good as well. Many of his videos are manually translated into 4 to 8 languages. We need linguists, historians and philosophers and religious specialists to help us understand The One Piece! Cheers!
@@jsliszt yeas, its awesome because I can't atleast yet to read Japanese so it really open new things for people like us. There are so many hidden meanings which won't be seen in the English or other translations.
I know you get messages of support from the community but I wanted to add my voice here too because it cannot be said enough how appreciated your work is! Translation and the work that goes into connecting people all over the world through words and the stories we love is extremely special
My weekly reading of One Piece is only complete after your translation analysis is out. Thank you for your time! You channel is fated to blow up with subscribers, you just wait! Your 100k plate is inevitable.
This channel and your Dawn Dusk channel are the best One Piece analysis videos on the internet. I had very little understanding of the nuances of the Japanese language and Oda’s wordplay before watching your videos. Keep up the great work!!!
Keep at it. Get a Hiragana chart, and start looking at the original Japanese, and you will understand a lot about Japanese in a short time. Japanese can be read left to right or right to left. Top to bottom, or horizontally. I think Oda's wordplay uses it all. For onomatopoeias and names, you need a katakana chart too. The original title and description of One piece is something like ... hitotsunaginodaihiho..... It can be divided many ways with different meanings. Check out the "Hitotsu nagi no dai hiho" or "Hito tsu nagi no dai hiho" or "The great one piece treasure" or "the red thread of destiny that binds all people." Google translate might be your friend or your nemesis sometimes. Cheers!
I literally wait every week for these and D&D to drop. You are indeed connecting your language with the rest of the one piece community. Naturally if I was gonna choose from what was given I would have to join the pirates given the context we have to far but I think joining the revolutionary army isn't a bad choice either! If you happen to read this I'm curious which side you would join yourself!
It’s nice seeing Japanese speakers attempt to speak English and not being afraid to show it to the world as I know many Japanese who would never and would be too shy. Thank you for your explanations it’s great! Subscribed🔥
Please keep making this series! It's so interesting to notice how much we missed because of the translation and the lack of context to non Japanese speakers. Keep up the good work my guy! Love this series!
i appreciate you for this content, you dont know how much i always look forwards to seeing a released video from this channel or dawn dusk, along with the new chapters that have been coming out as well! keep doing what you do!
I knew there were many wordplays, but it's amazing to hear from them, especially from a real translator with in depth knowledge of One Piece conveys them. They are even more amazing than I thought. Thanks for your work, it was always important to me to learn more about this.
Thanks! You have amazing insights. Some of your theories are amazing and only one who has Japanese as first language and loves one piece and Oda sensei's can work it out.
I like your channel for your content. But your mission/project to build a bridge between Japanese and English speaking community is just the best. Thank you and much love from Switzerland❤
Clau D makes a _lot_ more narrative sense than Claimh D, which has been possibly mistranslated by other people translating the Japanese script into English. Claimh is an Irish name, which sounds like 'Cleave' (to cut something) to a westerner, I think people have maybe put one and one together, resulting in three Cleave D = cleaved (cut in two)! Clover (the plant) is a common plant in Ireland, and looks like Clou D Clover's hair, so I think it was an easy mistake for them to make. Even Irish translated phonetically into English can be difficult. My Real (Irish) surname is Suibhne, which _should_ be said Sweevne' gets turned into Sweeney by the English, I've 'reclaimed' my name after my great grandfather was forced to spell it the English way in the late 1800s!
I like the connections you made between Zunesha and sky islands. i think it makes sense that if 900 years ago the sea level was lower than maybe so were the sky islands. Maybe Zunesha was walking in the clouds back then, that could explain why his favorite food was sky island apples.
We know Oda likes to use a mixture of Japanese and English wordplay, sometimes we hear the voice actors say 'berry, and 'belly' almost interchangeably. Might there be some sort of extra connection somehow that's been in front of us the whole time? We've seen Loguetown be translated as Roguetown in the English translations, could the money 'Berry' be a sneaky way to shoehorn yet another clue into the story by saying something so often that it becomes forgettable?!
Wanting to unite the Japanese community with the rest is so amazing! Can't wait for all the theories you guys came up with and how they will compare to ours.
Thank you for your videos this is amazing all the details that are hide in the original language of Oda œuvre ! I would love to join your community if you create such project (hello from France🥖)
Enel will make a return in Elbaf Elbaf is connected to Skypiea via the giant tree giant jack (Jack & the bean stock-Giants?). There is a reason the map of Skypiea showed Giants walking around. We never found out where the main entrance to Skypiea was but it was confirmed it exists.
Lunapien i see you are a story fanatic and understand deeper story telling symbolism and archetypes. You use a lot of pokemon music and mystery dungeon, i would love to hear your thoughts on pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky. Will always watch your one piece videos its been 20 years since ive been reading one piece and im noticing everything because of you
I think this is not important at all, but the Japanese written word for Imu, "イム," when put together into one Kanji, it happens to be "仏/hotoke" meaning "buddha/an enlightened one."
I feel like we need to hear more of the Revolutionary Army's views for the world. My gut feeling is pirates and members of both the WG and the RA will forn an all new world governing organization! I also think the current WG will make privateers of certain pirate crews, forgiving their past crimes in exchange for their service.
One of the first translations (maybe inaccurate) stated that Clover's full name was "Claiomh D. Clover". In Ireland's mythology, Claiomh Solais is seen as a relic/sacred shining/white sword, but mostly associated with rethorical figures, so it could symbolize something else. This sword is the reward for completing a bridal quest, in which the (to be) groom wins a bet over someone else to marry the bride, but in doing so he loses the faculty to come back to his homeland and is forced to roam around untill this shining sword is found, and commonly this sword is guarded by a giant or immortal enemies. So, in order to win this sword, he has to defeat/kill them, but the only way is using the sword itself and by hitting a weak spot, which could pe potentially an external object (similar to Horcruxes in HP universe or the One Ring). I think that Joyboy challenged Imu for Lily's hand, won the challenge by finding the Hito Hito no mi (white sword - > white warrior) and by the time he wanted to go back to his homeland, Imu said something like "I'd rather flood everything up!" and that's lead to the events we all know so far. Moreover, the quest for the Claiomh Solais is also known as "The One Story" or the "Cause of the one story about women"... One more thing about the immortal enemies: I think that Roger laughed and said that they weren't ready because the key to defeat the Gorosei and potentially Imu is to destroy the poneglyphs. So everyone laughed because they had to erase the history in order to fight the World Government, and the world wasn't ready cause nobody knew the truth about the flooding.
It's rare to see a native Japanese speaker talk about One Piece. Especially on the English speaking side of TH-cam. I appreciate the perspective

One of my biggest curiosities about One Piece is if there's any wordplay or specific wording that hints at what Imu is.
