Star you should do more of these. I'd love to see Discomfort Spy or Discomfort Heavy, especially with the weird options both classes have. Gives you an excuse to use the CHOCOLATE as Heavy as well, I'm sure you use that as often as I do (i.e. not at all).
One of the reasons I love the Backburner is that when you have it equipped, enemy Soldiers will immediately assume you suck and are incapable/not willing to airblast. Then they fire away, only to have their rockets reflected. By a Backburner.
pybro is homewrecker, and the detonator of scorchshot, the area of effect of those flare guns allows aoe spyshecking the engie nest or any other area while standing next the engie, adn never using the volcano fragment, it just sucks horribly outside of medieval, no use to it what so ever

I love using the back scratcher on random pub servers (because the ones I visit regularly have medics in them, 2 per team usually), unless we have a good medic on the team or engineer. If you are at about 40 health or above a medium kit become a large kit.
Star_ mentioned some rocket item that does damage to sentries. I got an idea for something like that. Maybe an EMP launcher that does zero damage to players but does increased damage to sentries and works like a sapper or something.

The whole thing @ 16:00 is why pyro is my favorite class. On most maps, there are paths you can take that let you stay out of the open. Pyro is great at ambush and controlling tight spaces/corners. If you are stuck at range, the flare guns are still effective. They can easily take out sentry guns that are exposed from a distance and most enemies first reaction to getting hit with a flare gun is to run away and get health.

I have to agree. When i first started out, I used only the backburner. This taught me to time my airblasts REALLY well. If anything I'd say that the most nooby weapon is the phlog. That weapons was MADE for m1+w'ing. The backburner was made for getting around enemy lines, appearing behind someone, pressing m1 for the shortest possible time to kill someone, then escaping with 1-2 airblasts.
Since watching this video, even after all this time, I can't look at a Pyro without thinking of the pyro motto at 8:06. Also other quotes like "I play good, I play backburner pyro" and "I don't really know much about the world. I know my flamethrower has eyes on it."
This item set is actually great. You get the extra damage of the Backburner, you can use the Manmelter to put out teammates so you don't use up your Bb ammo, and because this is a roamer loadout the Back Scratcher will come in handy. Plus now you can burn AND scratch backs while melting men!
Yeah, apart from the wacky airblast gimmicks everyone focuses all their attention on, the pyro is all about a strong, subtle application of the fundamentals. Aim, movement, positioning, prediction. And of course with subtlety comes being COMPLETELY overlooked and underestimated.
I agree with you, there are in fact certain situations where you have no other choice but to w+m1, but that doesn't make you a noob. I'm talking about the kind of people who would chase a scout (a scout!) with non-stop w+m1 until they die.
Then they dropped the health bonus and added an expensive airblast, now the W+M1 tactic was more difficult but the pyro could now fight soldiers, but now it was mostly used as a training tool and by then the degreeser had been introduced and all the pro pyros had switched to that. So only people who were still getting used to the class or that didn't know that the degreeser was better used the backburner and as such the stigma has remained.
The backburner is the most pubie-friendly weapon ever. Just hold left-click and go YAY I GET KILLZ OH WUT WHEREZ MAH KEEL STREEEEEEK MUUUUUUUUUUUUM! The degreaser or any of the standard pyro flamethrowers (rainblower and flamethrower) are good because they encourage the use of the airblast and (especially with the degreaser) encourage the use of combinations, such as Airblast + Flare, Fire + Axstinguisher, Airblast into water + Electro-bat thingy.
Just to repeat the basic tactic of Backburner / Backscratcher combo. Backburner doesn't need much airblast. Because you don't fight in front lines. You go behind the enemy, and ambush them from behind (quite effectively). When fighting behind enemy lines you will not find any medics - but you'll find plenty of health packs. Hence the bonus from Backscratcher. Note - don't use close quarter weapons like shotgun or melee, because Backburner out damages them. You should use flare gun weapons.

Most pub matches it's pretty easy to get behind people :S. There's more opportunities to use the degreaser + flare gun combo then there are to get backburner crits though which just makes it more versatile. Neither is difficult, one just has more uses generally :P.
I actually REALLY like the loadout in this video. The Backburner for stealthy kills, the Manmelter for extinguishing teammates without wasting airblast, and the Back Scratcher because while I'm being stealthy with the Backburner, I'm not going to be pocketed by Medics.
Well, the backburner used to have +10% damage as well as the increased airblast cost and the noobs who liked to run at people saw that, and BAM signature weapon. however people tended to forget the true purpose of this weapon was ambushing. The crit bonus(and damage bonus that was removed) absolutly devastated teams from behind this weapon is an absolute powerhouse, thing is the weapon recieved a bad rep, just due to a group that used the weapon.
That's most likely what Valve intended, but when pyros that have a backburner come in contact with an enemy they hold down left click and go in circles around the person trying to get their back.
I miss the old Star where he was more relaxed and not swearing every other word. And I miss the good times in TF2. Over 3k hours in it and stopped playing two years ago, haven't been any new weapons since.
The word Becquerel itself is an obscure unit of radiation measurement but yeah, its use here is pretty much definitely Homestuck related. Nobody would name themselves after a unit of measurement like that without a good reason.
If a player looks around a corner as a phlog pyro and uses the ability at the right time then yet again its due to the thought put behind the move. Phlog requires quite a bit of thought to pull off due to its vulnerabilities and your statement all but proves that. If he had to time it, check for enemies, and etc.
The backburner still has its damage buff, but now the stock flamethrower has a damage buff as well, so that's why it no longer says it has a damage buff.
I love the backburner. Real vanilla pyro had a much stronger flamethrower (like the backburner) and cound not airblast. Backburner is how pyro was meant to be played when it was conceived, minus the back-crits. The damage output is just insane at point blank
I play backburner all the time, My shining miment came when someone on the other team had a mic. He was using it to be an effective team leader. However, he had one problem, Me. To quote him, "Oh **** it's that Pyro again!"

I used to think the back scratcher was the melee equivalent of the back burner. boy was I wrong...
STAR_ did that with the ham, on the going ham video, and did realy well with it, beside we all know it's that one soldier loadout.

It lost its damage buff in June last year, conveniently only a few days after this video was released, so it has become a little bit less brainless.
