They are (or were?) a bit more exacting than that. They would keep going until they got it right. Total perfectionist.

They’re coming to nyc in august
The thing that never ceases to amaze me about their “Evolution” videos is that they’re all performed live and in one single take. No edits, no layering, no effects processors, just a dry mix- and probably just one condenser mic overhead. Absolutely mind-boggling.
The three in the back, Scott, Mitch and Kirstin were in musical theater as children. I am sure they had their voices early on, especially Mitch's voice which has been referred to as generational.
Everyone in the band says Mitch has the best voice. Their harmonies are so tight that I wonder if they are the same soul split into three people. They say that they are pretty much siblings at this point. The odds of three people that are this good in high school at the same time are so miniscule only the powers that be in the universe could make it happen.
Kevin is a DaVinci, Renaissance Man style genius.
Not to mention, Scott and Mitch both dated Kirsten, lol. Denial...

Their medleys are all awesome. Respectful of the original artist and song while putting their own spin on it. The true beauty of these are the number of songs included and the transitions. Pitch and octave and tempo differences and they do them very well. And most of their videos are simple because as you said don't need more if they can sing. And PTX surely can sing

Avi Kaplan, the bass from their early years, has his own solo career now. I would recommend Change on the Rise. It always pumps me up. For Pentatonix, one of my favorite originals of theirs is Sing. Other upgrade songs: Sound of Silence, Imagine, Amazing Grace and The Prayer. (Pentaholics will come in droves. We can’t experience them for the first time anymore, but we can enjoy watching other people do it.)

@@WollisWorld check out Kevin's cover of Down. The man is an all-around genius. Yale medical school, speaks Chinese, classical cellist. The group found him on youtube beatboxing while playing the cello (cello-boxing) and the rest is history. His beat boxing is beyond phenomenal and he's got a very distinctive laugh that makes you laugh. The group is close. Scott and PTX have tiktok accounts. Those five are goofy as hell. Lol
I started falling in love with a Capella groups about 3 years ago, and never looked back.....just the skill alone, in creating instruments like in a band, with just their voices, sets these groups apart from all the rest, and their skills are beyond mention! Another thing I also appreciate as well, is they are able to cross genres with ease.....would love you to react to their Bohemian Rhapsody, The Prayer, Amazing Grace, &n their performance on the Sing Off competition they won, Let's Get it on (Marvin Gaye), just so you can see their versatility 😊

There is no way to pick a favourite MJ song! All his music is great, it just depends on your mood! Listening to this just proves that! I love PTX!

As a little side trip for you, I can only suggest a singer (Angelina Jordan) who caught the international eye 7 yrs ago(ish) with "I Put a Spell On You", there's also material before this time (winning Norway's Got Talent 11/12 yrs ago), and since then many many many covers and originals (this was before signing up to a label only recently)
She's now about 17 - many refer to her as an Old Soul

I grew up watching MJ, quite literally as we were the same age. I remember seeing the Jackson 5 on all of the variety shows on TV, and later on, MTV made it a must-see event when they premiered each of his new videos. Gotta say Thriller is my favorite, but I have a special quirky place in my heart for Ben. I’m so glad you’re enjoying Pentatonix! Peace …

Imagine is a great cover. Well all their songs are great, even their originals. I just cannot pick a favorite. Whatever one I am listening to at that moment is my fave. They are perfect in what they do. Check out aha live in Singapore. It is recorded from a cell phone but they even sound good that way. Crazy. Love ptx. Enjoying going down this rabbit hole with you. His early 80s stuff is my favorite...Off the Wall and Thriller era. I basically live to dance to early 80s R&B kind of lives in my body all the time. I basically dream in Gap Band base lines.
I think MJ was Amazing his baby cry was probably singing he was just the best ever i love everything i ever heard him sing i really cant pick just 1!!!! Same wt PTX I love all their music all of it its crazy to me how absolutely fantastic they all are and I think MJ would love this one!!!!! ✌🎼❣

Pentatonix has hundreds of videos and over 7 BILLION views on TH-cam. They do every genre that you can name. I recommend that you react to "The Prayer", "Amazing Grace", "Can You Hear the Love Tonight", "Ceiling Can't Hold Us", "Sound of Silence", and "Come Along". Pentatonix doesn't do covers...They do upgrades.

It was either country music or 70’s rock in my home as I grew up (my dad blocked mtv and vh1) so I hadn’t heard most of these or at least not more than the chorus but I still love this evolution. I’ve now gone back and listened to all of these songs by the Jackson 5 and Michael. Billy Gilman did Man in the Mirror with another guy during his season on the Voice and I was hooked on that song. I had listened to Billy when he sang country as a kid/teenager. You will get to 100,000 subs by just doing what you are doing

They were touring in Asia and Australia in March. Here's a fan-recorded video of them singing their original song "Can't Sleep Love" in Perth. th-cam.com/video/elP0uqPlyMo/w-d-xo.html They are on break now, then will do about 20 concerts in Europe, then another break and 25 dates in the US in August/ Sept. Since they do a lot of their arranging while they are on tour, we are hoping for some new songs this year. They do a Christmas album every year, but their last originals album was in early 2021.
Growing up I think Thriller was my jam but now I gotta go with Man in the Mirror and (I didn't discover it until I was a little older) Dirty Diana!
There are 3 A Capella groups that I say are equal and are the best out there. 1) Pentatonix, who won the third season of a singing competition called The Sing Off. 2) Home Free, who won the 4th season of The Sing Off. 3) Voice Play who most members (and they change member often) have backgrounds with Disney so they are very theatrical.

I hope this catches your attention. PLEASE give us your musician's take of "Kevin's Fifth". It is a part of the PTX concern where Kevin gives us some AMAZING music. It is not seen enough in my opinion and certainly not reacted to enough. This man absolutely deserves his musical brilliance to shine on it's own as well.

A video that I think you would like is a newer mash-up that they did with Matt the new bass which is New Rules (Dua Lipa) & Are You That Somebody (The great Aaliyah) . It will give you Timbaland vibes. (They have well over 200 songs in their catalog.) Avi, the original bass left the group (2017) amicably for multiple reasons but he was involved in picking his replacement, Matt, before leaving. All of the other members are the OG's . jmaj, Avi had no part in picking Matt. NONE. Matt auditioned (along with 40+ others) and won his place in the band based upon his talent, experience, work ethic, personality, etc. That Avi connection is a false internet rumor that is not based on facts but keeps being spread for some reason (sigh).

Oh gosh...this took me back to when I was very young, Jackson 5 and other Motown artist was popular; Diana Ross and The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Commodores... I always get happy when young artists make covers on songs I like from my youth. The original song is the original and nothing can change that but often the new version has a nice twist and suits nowadays better. Now I should admit, I am not a big fan of Michael J. He was an outstanding artist and made good music but I seldom like those big artists, maybe one or two songs but you hear them everywhere and get tired of them. Was not a fan of ABBA, was not a fan of Madonna and so on, I respect them as artists but they never been favorites.

You definitely gotta check out their upgrade of can't hold us by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Also Mitch and Scott have their own channel called superfruit and they have videos called hip hop goes Broadway 1 & 2 and they did a version of Feelin' myself. They can rap. They are more free to be themselves on that channel. They're hilarious and they throw some bloopers in at the end of the videos.
Their Lucky Ones is all originals and all are fire! Can't sleep love is the OG but watch the live version its better...also Love Again, has that EDM vibe...Coffee in Bed and Easy Love are good choices

Unfortunately, they are just at the end of their Australian tour. It was the first time they have ever toured there, I believe.
