@@sailordaigurren8225 Laissez-faire government and Laissez-faire economics are counterintuitive ideas. Laffer Curve, peace through strength, and building a strong state on strong individuals given individual liberty and expecting individual responsibility, are counterintuitive ideas. Conservative ideas are counterintuitive. Liberalism is not an ideology. Liberalism is an inability to use reason and logic to understand how the counterintuitive nature of the universe works, so a person falls back on their emotions to reach a conclusion. That is why there are no successful liberal political talk radio shows. Liberals need moving pictures or hand puppets to trigger their emotions. There was a huge global study where they asked thousands of people hundreds of questions and grouped them by their answers. People that ranked high in conscientiousness also favored conservative policies. People that ranked low in conscientiousness also favored liberal policies. Meaning liberals have no intention of doing what is right or making sacrifices for the good of society. Liberals are twice as likely as conservatives to report having mental problems in some groups and report higher mental problems across the board. This mental instability and inability to still their mind long enough to understand how conservative policies help poor and working class people is the cause of their problem. If you look up the traits of narcissists, you will see they are exactly the same as liberal politicians and activists, because they are both driven in total by their hatred and emotions.

Unions work for the working class, also representing essential works that in most cases are under paid, working irregular work hours, with absolutely no benefits. Unions benefits even none union workers. Most importantly you have a voice. Much Thanks to Senator Bernie Sanders for everything he does for the working poor and middle class.
Right To Work is a Goebelesque speak for laws that take away your choice. It’s true that the rights and laws need to strengthened for all workers, but that doesn’t mean you make it harder for unions to organize and to join a union. Senator Cassidy is disingenuous in saying that “Biden’s inflation” is what has depleted working people’s savings- what savings?! Healthcare they can’t afford - depletes their savings, not making a livable wage - depletes your savings, because you never make enough to HAVE savings. Someone wants to decline a union job because they don’t want to pay dues or support the politics that make unions possible (ie, progressive lawmakers) - tgehh uh ALREADY have that choice. So, it’s the equivalent of the fundamentalist Christians precluding others’ right because of their own beliefs. EXACT same thing.
Plus this was a global inflation, not limited to USA. It was caused by many factors, including Trump failing to act early & decisively against the pandemic, and exacerbated by corporate greed. Over the decades, I've noticed that the GOP takes office, makes rules that favor big business, and then, when Dems get their turn in office, the GOP blames the Dems for the consequences that begin to pan out from those prior GOP actions. The Dems do their best to clean up the mess, then the GOP gets back into office and takes credit for how things are better now, the consequences of actions taken by Dems when they were in office. All that is NOT to say that Dems are blameless for all our troubles. Bill Moyers once likened the two parties to a couple of drunks trying to make their way home after closing time. Neither can walk or stand on their own, but they lean on each other & manage to stay vertical. And, I still am bitterly angry at the DNC for preventing Bernie, twice in a row, from having any chance at being our president. Can you imagine what kind of world we'd be looking at if we'd elected a President Sanders in 2016 instead of President Trumpster-Fire?!?!
Right to work is the only way to stop coercion away from the people that don't want anything to do with the unions. It's the most fair way to do this... Unions know that they can't exist with it... What does that tell you ?

Yes, but you shouldn't let right-wing propaganda and the fact that unions do need to be reformed and regulated to guard against corruption cause you to think that unions are bad period. OH MY GOODNESS!! I have to say it again, ...when you here Bernie Sanders speak he immediately grabs your attention. He articulates like and professional speaker (because he is one) and makes very clear his point/s and messages with absolute ease and without the need to think or pause to conjure up ideas. He simply expresses himself very well. When someone can do this, it is a result of their knowing well the subject they are speaking on. They are engaged with the words and the message coming out of their mouth simply because they passionately believe it. Even a less versed or educated person can pull this off when a subject near to their heart or a subject they are very familiar they wish to share. BUT, inversely, when we have to sit and watch the president of the United States, Joe Biden, say even the simplest of things or broadcast the smallest amount of any information he stumbles and stammers and takes painfully too much time to look at the ceiling or look left and right as if he's making like he's trying to engage people with eye contact where he is actually just trying to buy time to organize a tired, confused and vacant mind. It's pathetic for that person to hold such a lofty and important position. And completely unbecoming of a president of the most powerful nation on earth. So before Biden, we had Trump!!!...an abhorrent narcissist and ridiculous laughingstock with his similar but different limitations with oration or providing information through public address. Age my be a feature with Biden. Maybe!!?? Bernie Sanders is 14 months older and yet he can debate anyone or broadcast information with lucidity, crafted precision and intelligence like any well versed thoughtful person can do. It's not a special feature he has, Obama could also intelligibly pass profound thoughts similarly through public speaking. But its a feature that is very important for us voters to seek out among the other presidential features a candidate should possess. The political views and content of these clearly presented messages is obviously another extremely important part of the features of our candidates we want them to have. Its important of course, that person, the president, will have the greatest of influences on the direction of our world and lives. He must have control of profound thoughts and demonstrate clear vision. The current and and former president DO/DID NOT HAVE THIS. Bernie, age is not a thing for you. Not even a little bit. It may have affected Biden??!! ..but personally I think he's just plain dim. But, Bernie Sanders, you are sharp AND you got this. If American companies don't want to employ Americans in unions then they shouldn't get the tax breaks they received AND they should have to pay higher rates of taxes. Our politicians need to do whatever it takes to keep good paying jobs (with unions) in the US.
Thank you Senator Sanders for conducting this hearing. Clearly, some of the committee members are protecting their own business interest here. Corporations will take advantage of workers when they can. We see and experience it all the time. Workers need a voice and a means for being treated fairly; the union provides that!
The “right to work” crowd must have missed the point about unions getting us weekends, overtime pay, higher wages, expanded benefits and increased workplace inclusivity. Quickly becoming a losing platform, clinging onto that shaky old right to work train..
UNION STRONG… By the way that Senator is dead wrong on what UPS feeder drivers make… I’m one of them driver & I can very easily SAY I make over $100,000 a YEAR with free health benefits & Pension ALL company paid for… Now I think the Senator is talking about FedEx drivers making $35,000 BECAUSE they’re CONTRACTORS …
I worked for UPS while I was in college. Just a loader, however. At the time they were paying more to start than most jobs out there. I forget exactly what it was at the time as this was like 15 years ago. Teamsters dues were like, 11 bucks or so out of my check. Only union job I ever worked and you really take it for granted when you get abused by the power structure of a non union job.
Sen. Cassidy used a Red Herring. Right to work doesn't mean what he said it means. I wish when a sen. says such nonsense, someone ask them to define or askthem " are does their argument help the workers not get harass or persecuted for wanting/ being in a UNION?
My Mom workered for the DAV for 35 years, the workers decided to union organize because their wages were very low and they wanted health care, vacation/sick time, a retirement package, and just a better work environment. To keep the union out, the organization turned the whole nonprofit around. The workers received top shelf wages, health care, and retirement package. Plus, they gained a credit union, to help them become financially strong. I think it's up to the worker's beliefs of fair treatment, to determine if they should be organized. No one should bullied for or against union.
Ups package car driver here and I make $40+ per hour, I do want to say some of our drivers are getting real greedy in anticipation of this new contract coming up, I am fine where I’m at, I’m not asking for $50 per hour, I am asking to cut down on work hours and to keep my medical dental benefits the same. I would rather keep my benefits vs a major increase in pay. If anything the part timers need a huge raise, not us drivers. I like Mr. O’Briens toughness but I’m afraid he acts too tough. A strike will not benefit anyone.
my Teamster local is also bad when it comes to contract time. They speak for us without actually hearing what we the workers want. Sometimes we are actually ok with a pay freeze if it will help stable the company.

He was gifted a business from someone else and his inability to see his own privilege is incredibly frustrating, yet normal. He’s upset because he doesn’t want to share the profits with those people that work under him. Someone who doesn’t share the growth and success of the business.

Unions work for the working class, also representing essential works that in most cases are under paid, working irregular work hours, with absolutely no benefits. Unions benefits even none union workers. Most importantly you have a voice. Much Thanks to Senator Bernie Sanders for everything he does for the working poor and middle class.
Thank you, Bernie, for thanking care of working people!
President O’Brien you just showed me why I voted for you!!

I appreciate this and other hearings Sen Sanders is holding and I also appreciate that he is making them available on TH-cam so the public can learn about the issues and check out which senators are thoughtful leaders and which senators are just loudmouths.

When during the Trump administration the bottom 1/5th of wage earners had their incomes rise the fastest of all groups. That was the first time that had happened since the George W Bush administration.
Because both Trump and W. used Kennedy's theory of using lower taxes, less immigration, deregulation, and smaller government to tighten up the labor market. Which raises wages, allows mobility, allows for advancement, and gives people dignity.
Compare that to the Democrat policies of using high taxes, over regulation, open immigration, and big government to put permanent slack into the labor market. Which drives down wages and drives up housing prices at the same time, to the point tens of millions of people don't have any money left over at the end of the month. And it's the low wages at the bottom that allows the excesses at the top, causing the wealth gap.
Raising the bottom 1/5th of wage earners wealth relative to everyone else is something liberals will never be able to do because of their policies.
Whether unwittingly or intentionally, Bernie's policies are the cause of the wealth gap.
If Bernie actually cared about poor and working class people, Bernie would be a Kennedy/Reagan conservative.

The unions we want need to be transparent and represent and be flexible to their very members
We also need the union to fight for us and stop taking kickbacks from the companies. Local 63!!! work union Live better.
Yes, but you shouldn't let right-wing propaganda and the fact that unions do need to be reformed and regulated to guard against corruption cause you to think that unions are bad period. Just like democracy can be messy sometimes and corruption can seep in, but democracy is still preferable to an oligarchy or dictatorship.
@@lo17107 what Republican said unions were bad? They literally ALL said they are pro union. They just also want people to have a choice. Just because republicans have pointed out some legitimate issues doesn’t mean they are all the way against. Being honest about the problems within the unions is the only way to fix things. The first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have a problem. Unfortunately it seems like people are conditioned to think in such extremes that anytime someone’s beliefs are questioned they are automatically the enemy and everything they say is because of bad intentions. Listening to Cassidy rose my blood pressure. Their gaslighting and strawman arguments are BEYOND infuriating from the stand point of someone who works full time and has to routinely choose between paying rent on time, or buying food.
I dig Mr. Obrian's toughness!
I'm a server. I have worked with and without a union....Go Union! We desperately need a restaurant Union in northeast Georgia!!!
And literally millions of "fans", "the people", will have your back more than ever before. Your name is world famous...your brand is clear...and and your influence could positively change our world direction we so desperately need. Run again Bernie Sanders for the President of the United States for 2024🗽🌍🌎🌏♥👊
thank you

One must remember that President Joe Biden has fought a speech defect from birth, which is stuttering. Some of the greatest leaders, like Julius Caesar, had epilepsy. Stuttering in no way affects Joe Biden ability to think.
I agree with you and I appreciate you being Canadian and speaking up about our country. Americans to me have gotten swallowed up by the baby boomers old America. They seem to think things will work the way they growed up, went to school and made a living in our country. Our country is changing so fast and we have to change with that. Sometimes a step back helps us get two steps ahead. I just don't want us to step back and get stuck.
@@KrvshaanMyankazt-sw4tp Thanks for insight, you make a good point. I guess with me, a product of the baby boomers..(Almost, dad was born in 44) but I somehow felt the the wave of younger ppl taking more control as I aged along with them. I really believe that unless there is radical change with revolutionary approach the status quo will forever remain. I mean for christ sakes, we all have a computer in our pockets to allow us all to speak up and out to whom ever we choose at any time. Just imagine how julius ceasar would have responded to everyone being connected in that way!!?? But, with that said, that notion is seriously flawed because one high tech cant exist in a world of complete and utter antiquity...physical and social.

You don't have to join a union, but you will have no weekend and less pay.
Well said!!
Teamsters gave Saturdays to UPS and now are telling members that they will have to work Sundays as well. Obrien is talking out of both sides of his mouth. There is no backing from the Union for safety concerns at UPS. Drivers are again voiding their lunches, Feeder drivers because of legislation changes are working more than 60 hours a week. I have seen nothing from the teamsters to fight this. I believe in unions being a key to fair treatment of workers. Obrien has a lot of work to hold UPS responsible for contract violations that happen right now.

"Right to work?" The one thing a company likes is cheap labour. And to keep them from forming a coalition is the sole purpose of "Right to work." Companies have always worked toward pitting people against each other. It makes the labour force less effective in their unity in negotiating for their labour. There's not other way to describe "Right to work." It's a tool of corporations to diminish it's power. It's about time a resurgence of organization and labour advocacy was encouraged. I wasn't selected from a potential job yesterday for asking to many questions. One question was a bout a Union, I could see in the managers faces that they didn't like that one. These people are afraid of unions and they should be.
Sen. Mullin is behaving disgracefully. He needs to learn to get along plus some commonly accepted rules of behavior.
Thank you, thank you!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yes , Union must fight for workers' rights and pay justice . Workers must stand up for workers' rights .
Sen Cassidy has no idea what he is talking about.
Senators are organized. Look at their pay and perks and benefits.
The “right to work” crowd must have missed the point about unions getting us weekends, overtime pay, higher wages, expanded benefits and increased workplace inclusivity. Quickly becoming a losing platform, clinging onto that shaky old right to work train..
Power to the people

Thank You Bernie Sanders for trying to help everyone
My Mom workered for the DAV for 35 years, the workers decided to union organize because their wages were very low and they wanted health care, vacation/sick time, a retirement package, and just a better work environment. To keep the union out, the organization turned the whole nonprofit around. The workers received top shelf wages, health care, and retirement package. Plus, they gained a credit union, to help them become financially strong. I think it's up to the worker's beliefs of fair treatment, to determine if they should be organized. No one should bullied for or against union.
Cassidy is being very disingenuous here. Workers should be paid their worth not 7 bucks an hour.
