I'm an Eastern Orthodox and I prayed the last 3 weeks for the Anglican Christians, that they stand up for the Gospel truth. It's good to see that Justin Welby get refuted and I hope he will repent.
It’s a nice thought, but Welby, sadly, has been put there by the establishment, and he may sound religious, and spiritual, nay, even evangelical, but he will do their bidding, and we’ve see for the past few years the working out of his stooge leadership.

The Catholic Church IS the Church. Anglicanism started dying the moment it was concieved. Indeed, the rot set in with the ordination of women. The same sort of twisted hermeneutic is being applied to sexuality. This is not hindsight ; many of us warned that the hermeneutic would lead to disastrous consequences; but we were shouted down by too many (including ‘Evangelicals”) in the Church of England (and elsewhere).

Way back, in the '70's, a woman was ordained Bishop. Also in the '70's what was my church affirmed abortion is okay when necessary. When is it necessary? That was so open-ended. Since I lived in NYC, I knew lots of Catholics, I became Catholic. The best decision of my life over 40. This faith is so rich with so much information , spirituality, and mysticism. In the United States, in the mid-1970s, I was in a high school history class in New York state, close to the New York City area, when a teacher taught us that one of the signs of the downfall of civilization was rampant homosexuality. It's interesting how a secular institution like a public high school could teach that, as well as having the backing of all the psychoanalytic textbooks, and then a liberal Christian wing tried to normalize it.

I was appalled when the Archbishop of York said that he does not accept the authority of scripture , and presumably the 39 Articles of faith anymore. He should join the British Humanist Association I am a member of the Anglican church, but if the Archbishops are not careful , they will split the Church. It seems that this ""blessing "" is more important than the historic Christian Faith of the Church of England. GAFCON need to think about the Archbishop of York's statement as well as the "" Blessing ""
The boil needs to be lanced completely. Given the intractability of Welby on the vexed issue that precipitated this decision, and the vote of the Bishops in support of blessing gay marriages, retention of the CoE under Welby would carry the risk that the good work done by GAFCON could be undermined or weakened. This is such a serious matter that a clean break with the CoE is necessary to eliminate the risk of reinfection by the CoE's rejection of Scriptural principles and its capitulation to the populist standards and mores of the secular world in which the Church is supposed to carry the light of Christ and the Gospel of salvation.
Dr. Welby, authentic compassion and unity is found in Christ Jesus -- the Way, the Truth and the Life. Apart from Him, one's effort are for nought, even harmful! Faith must to be Christ-centered, not based on false notions of communion which suggests dogma, doctrine and discipline are negotiable.

I am a Roman Catholic and am following these happenings in the Anglican Communion very closely. We ourselves are going through the same wokeness in Catholic circles with the German Synod and the twin Roman Synod to follow. Schism is nigh.

I was raised an Anglican, I recently left, with great sadness. My Diocese had been sneakily taken over by gay and gay sympathisers. The Bishop seemed comfortable in changing / reinterpreting scripture. For the very Rev Arch Bishop of Canterbury Justin Welby to sanctify same sex marriage is the end. Add to that the new King as head of the CofE is a naturalist and does not appear to hold the same depth of faith as his mother had. Watch out for what happens in the CofE over the next decade. I must pray harder for the Anglican Church in Australia. Please pray with me 🙏✝️😢
At the end of the day, denominationalism cannot save anyone and is not the answer. There will be no denominations in Heaven. It just shows up division within the Church, the body. I pray that Jesus builds His church and the gates of hell will NOT prevail against it. We can't serve God on our terms. We have to serve God on His terms with the word of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as our foundation, centre, and guide in our Christian walk and faith🙏🏾🙏🏼

I am sad to say this reflects the declining position of the UK in the world - the loss (quite rightly) of the British Empire, upsetting the Commonwealth by joining the EU, upsetting the EU by leaving it with BREXIT. The Church of England is decaying and no longer in a position to lead the Anglican Communion, just as the UK is in no position to lead the rest of the world.

Historically, the Anglican Church was established in order to bless adultery, divorce and sinful marriages of the British Royal family, starting with Henry VIII. Nowadays it is being faithful to its "ratio essendi". The only way out is to repent, reform and come into communion with the successors of Peter and the other Apostles, upon whom Jesus established His only, one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

So now the spiritual base of power is growing in the global south where they have a mission to evangelize the north! Of course, the Sydney archdiocese along with Gafcon and the diocese of the Southern Cross, led by former Sydney Archbishop Glen Davies, will also be key players. They are obviously focused on proclaiming Christ’s Gospel without the added weight and burden of those departing from foundational doctrines.

I can hear that Gafcon and the Global South are unhappy with the decisions of the Church of England synod and our Archbishop of Canterbury. It seems to me that there have always been disagreements about doctrine in the Anglican Communion - hence the looseness of the Lambeth Quadrilateral. I don’t understand how the language is of ‘resetting’ rather than ‘splitting’? And how does this relate to the common understanding of the historical episcopate?

The unity of the Church, both in its doctrine and in its tradition and in its magisterium is fundamental. Once separated from Rome they have done nothing but constantly divide.
The original Anglican Communion was created out of thin air on the bones of the Catholic Church, so it is not unprecedented to create a new organism. Thinking utilitarian, it would be easier to co-opt the current structure however, when we tried this in America we were mostly sued out of existence by the American Episcopal Church who insisted on us returning all lands, buildings, and treasuries. Very few congregations survived that.

This is long overdue. The ABC and CofE have turned away from God and His Word, and have (mostly) not been listening to the voice of the vibrant, growing, orthodox Anglicans worldwide. So, they will soon be just a minor member of the communion it started nearly 500 years ago. The ABC will just be head of English Anglicans, likely to be a diminishing liberal-minded group, with liberal bishops focused on left-wing politics and green issues. This resetting seems inevitable as well as sensible. It is sad and sobering, caused by a leadership that has gone astray. I admire the attitude of those at GAFCON who are loving and generous toward the CofE, ABC and bishops, longing for them to turn back to God through repentance and faith.
The trouble with the church of England and church in Wales is that too many of our clergy don't realise that they are servants. The followed advice from a well wisher to join the clergy is because I find it hard to preach about what I find difficult and fail at putting into practice. Too many vicars forget they are there for the whole parish not just the chosen few.

The final authority is not ones own reading of the Bible, but rather the Church. Christ established His church, and promised it would teach His truth, in His name, in every generation, until the end.

Because the African and Southern churches insist on reveling in their ancient prejudices and distain for anyone who isn't them, the Anglican Communion will be split between those of us who prefer to proclaim the grace and kindness of the Risen Christ to those for whom single-minded biblical literalism is the overriding focus of their worship. As a life-long American Episcopalian, I try to live by forwarding the love of Jesus, and leave the complicated, sometime very personal questions of gender and sexual orientation to the wisdom of Almighty God who, we should all acknowledge, is not only the final and only arbiter of these issues, but has made it abundantly clear that he will judge us by how we love, not how we find ways to condemn each other. What's so sad and un-Christlike is that instead of Africans and Indians working to comfort the suffering and horror to in their own backyards, they are busy playing international church politics.
In the Old Testament, for the sin in question, the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and surrounding cities. In the New Testament, the Lord shed his own blood on Calvary, to save us from our sins. The Archbishop has lost sight of the Gospel. His humanistic reasoning compounds the sin of sodomy. If we confess our sins, the Lord is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanest us from our all unrighteousness.
Sorry, but for too many, who have left the Church of England, and for many who are contemplating that move, it’s too little too late. Lloyd-Jones was right, and Stot was wrong, in 1966. Anglicanism in the United Kingdom has long been on the downgrade, and its leaders - not just its bishops - have been far too retro-active and appeasing.
I am gay and I am praying for the Anglican Communion. I am a traditionalist - gay marriage should NOT be affirmed within the church (although I am in favour of civil partnerships recognized by the government). Not all gays are liberal people. Don't violate the Word of God to "tolerate" new things.

I was appalled when the Archbishop of York said that he does not accept the authority of scripture , and presumably the 39 Articles of faith anymore. He should join the British Humanist Association I am a member of the Anglican church, but if the Archbishops are not careful , they will split the Church. It seems that this ""blessing "" is more important than the historic Christian Faith of the Church of England. GAFCON need to think about the Archbishop of York's statement as well as the "" Blessing ""

The boil needs to be lanced completely. Given the intractability of Welby on the vexed issue that precipitated this decision, and the vote of the Bishops in support of blessing gay marriages, retention of the CoE under Welby would carry the risk that the good work done by GAFCON could be undermined or weakened. This is such a serious matter that a clean break with the CoE is necessary to eliminate the risk of reinfection by the CoE's rejection of Scriptural principles and its capitulation to the populist standards and mores of the secular world in which the Church is supposed to carry the light of Christ and the Gospel of salvation.
Dr. Welby, authentic compassion and unity is found in Christ Jesus -- the Way, the Truth and the Life. Apart from Him, one's effort are for nought, even harmful! Faith must to be Christ-centered, not based on false notions of communion which suggests dogma, doctrine and discipline are negotiable.
This is what happens when you put a Banker in charge of a church.

I was raised an Anglican, I recently left, with great sadness. My Diocese had been sneakily taken over by gay and gay sympathisers. The Bishop seemed comfortable in changing / reinterpreting scripture. For the very Rev Arch Bishop of Canterbury Justin Welby to sanctify same sex marriage is the end. Add to that the new King as head of the CofE is a naturalist and does not appear to hold the same depth of faith as his mother had. Watch out for what happens in the CofE over the next decade. I must pray harder for the Anglican Church in Australia. Please pray with me 🙏✝️😢
Welby's strange response about rape and torture had no relevance to the position of the Church expressed by Dr Shehata regarding same sex marriages.
At the end of the day, denominationalism cannot save anyone and is not the answer. There will be no denominations in Heaven. It just shows up division within the Church, the body. I pray that Jesus builds His church and the gates of hell will NOT prevail against it. We can't serve God on our terms. Historically, the Anglican Church was established in order to bless adultery, divorce and sinful marriages of the British Royal family, starting with Henry VIII. Nowadays it is being faithful to its "ratio essendi". The only way out is to repent, reform and come into communion with the successors of Peter and the other Apostles, upon whom Jesus established His only, one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Many Anglicans have returned to the Rock of Peter, praised be Jesus Christ.

I can hear that Gafcon and the Global South are unhappy with the decisions of the Church of England synod and our Archbishop of Canterbury. It seems to me that there have always been disagreements about doctrine in the Anglican Communion - hence the looseness of the Lambeth Quadrilateral.

The original Anglican Communion was created out of thin air on the bones of the Catholic Church, so it is not unprecedented to create a new organism. Thinking utilitarian, it would be easier to co-opt the current structure however, when we tried this in America we were mostly sued out of existence by the American Episcopal Church who insisted on us returning all lands, buildings, and treasuries. Very few congregations survived that.
Hardly out of thin air! The Anglican Church was formed by a king who wanted a divorce and who stole the Roman Catholic Churh of the UK and it’s wealth.
The Anglican organisation was created out of rejection of the Catholic Faith and the persecution, murder, and theft of its adherents.
This is long overdue. The ABC and CofE have turned away from God and His Word, and have (mostly) not been listening to the voice of the vibrant, growing, orthodox Anglicans worldwide. So, they will soon be just a minor member of the communion it started nearly 500 years ago. The ABC will just be head of English Anglicans, likely to be a diminishing liberal-minded group, with liberal bishops focused on left-wing politics and green issues. This resetting seems inevitable as well as sensible. It is sad and sobering, caused by a leadership that has gone astray. I admire the attitude of those at GAFCON who are loving and generous toward the CofE, ABC and bishops, longing for them to turn back to God through repentance and faith.
The trouble with the church of England and church in Wales is that too many of our clergy don't realise that they are servants. The followed advice from a well wisher to join the clergy is because I find it hard to preach about what I find difficult and fail at putting into practice. Too many vicars forget they are there for the whole parish not just the chosen few.

@@annetmaryfamilyofficial8038 The Bible is certainly the infallible written word of God. BUT the readers interpetations are not guaranteed to be infallible! The Protestant practice of Bible as Final Authority, by it's very nature, results in thousands of versions of "truth" and continual division. Every fanciful doctrinal conclusion is justified by ones rendering of the meaning of Sacred Scripture. Thanks be to Martin Luther.

The final authority is not ones own reading of the Bible, but rather the Church. Christ established His church, and promised it would teach His truth, in His name, in every generation, until the end.

It is my understanding that Holy Matrimony of same sex couples is not being celebrated; it is the wish that God bless the couples who have found and committed to each other, in a move away from the hyper-sexualized meat markets that also exist in certain areas.

As a life-long American Episcopalian, I try to live by forwarding the love of Jesus, and leave the complicated, sometime very personal questions of gender and sexual orientation to the wisdom of Almighty God who, we should all acknowledge, is not only the final and only arbiter of these issues, but has made it abundantly clear that he will judge us by how we love, not how we find ways to condemn each other. What's so sad and un-Christlike is that instead of Africans and Indians working to comfort the suffering and horror to in their own backyards, they are busy playing international church politics.

Sorry, but for too many, who have left the Church of England, and for many who are contemplating that move, it’s too little too late. Lloyd-Jones was right, and Stot was wrong, in 1966. Anglicanism in the United Kingdom has long been on the downgrade, and its leaders - not just its bishops - have been far too retro-active and appeasing.
And that problem has spread worldwide 🙏✝️
I am gay and I am praying for the Anglican Communion. I am a traditionalist - gay marriage should NOT be affirmed within the church (although I am in favour of civil partnerships recognized by the government). Not all gays are liberal people. Don't violate the Word of God to "tolerate" new things.
Here is only one answer and irs the word of God...He will never Bless same sex couples no matter what man says...In these last days its more vital than ever before to be true to faith in Jesus...His Word says it all...🙏🙏🙏

To quote Eckhart Tolle, if you’re not comfortable in a situation you find yourself in, you have three options:
1. Change it
2. Accept it
3. Leave.
Seems leaving is your only option. The Anglo Catholic’s would seem to be an obvious home for you or joining the RC brigade.
You need to make a move soon as you’re confrontational actions are taking you away from your centre and detracting from your work.
I left the Episcopal Church USA a long time ago. Not that I'm not fond of it! But these changes have become too much. Will the Anglican Communion renew itself? I hope so. It won't be easy.
