Never really found any RWS group very well in several of my guns. JSB, QYS, then Bisley Magnum and old Accupel in the budget stakes do well. Pellet size seems to make a difference - I’m using more 4.49 these days .
I'm out filming this morning and he's mugged me off twice already 😆 These rws are very new I've only seen them for sale at uttings so far bit they show some potential for sure
They sure are. I really want to be able to get the best of them. Dunno what happened with that mad shot that dropped really low. Probably need to weigh some up for the next tests
I'll give the norma a go when I can get my hands on some, ive a few custom hft500 actions here and they are so unfussy and clinically accurate it puts alot of the real expensive stuff to shame. The tr is a great bit of kit, I love mine
Well , ive just gorra get a tin of them little buggers .. if not for serious target work , definitely for spinners and knockdowns at the range .. so its where to get em from next ... Interesting vid btw , and I must say , in all the years ive been watching this type of vid , I've never seen a goat wonder on set .. FANTASTIC ..
Probably not the same scope, as I've not got a matching pair but certainly some involved breakdowns of the rifles and how they perform in the real world, wind etc..😉
I find that anything over 10.5 GRN in sub 12 .177 looses power , I've tried 13 GRN and heavier , people often equate more weight = more power , and most of the time in an f.a.c PCP that's the case ,however in sub 12 f.p.e it's usually the opposite , for me .20 calibre is my favourite .
I've a little old .177 CZ/S200 it shoots ridiculous groups with Falcon Acc+ and very good with JSB express, tried a few heavy pellets including Hades but just need to learn wind holds.
@@aboutthemetal8783 Not bought any for a bit, so might have the same trouble when I run out last order was wolfman I think. JSB RS same weight but didn't shoot the same.
I also get very good results with QYS pellets, my other pellets are usually JSB. As you said, you need to test pellets to see what suits the rifle you have, although I have tried RWS I have not yet found a pellet/barrel combination that works for me. The QYS and RWS you had on test are not that dissimilar in weight, could the extra drop at 50m be due to the RWS not sealing in the barrel as well as they should? QYS and JSB mark their tins for actual size and do a range of sizes for the calibre, I'm not seeing the actual size on RWS tins I have.
Hi john, it's entirely possible the pellet fit in the barrel isn't ideal. They loaded smoothly with no undies pressure to seat them in the barrel. I will do some chrono tests and test may give an insight into the extra drop. They dropped a fair way more than a 10.3gn jsb heavy and not far off the drop of the qys magnums at 13gn. So a bit of a strange one. More questions than answers right now,but that's half the fun of it i guess.
@@tillysgunstocks It certainly is, we wouldn't be happy if the choice wasn't there. Funny you should mention not noticing undue force when loading, the only RWS pellets I have had success with (and I only use them at short distances) were Supermag, and they were tight to load.
Thanks for another interesting video, I've been using the norma golden trophy ft in my hw110 .22 and they have been a excellent pellet, I've never new norma and rws are the same company maybe I should try rws as they are also a bit cheaper.what do you think of the optisan cp scope I have the eve 3-12x44 was thinking of getting the cp scope just needed something a bit smaller!
Hi Darren, I really like the little cp. For the majority of my shooting which is sub 45 yards it performs very well. It's pretty clear and when used for hft at 10x mag it's got a very useful amount of blur to allow a degree of rangefinding. The ret is nice, not too cluttered like some scopes are. The shorter than average eye relief is also great for shifting the scope rearward on the rifle a bit. It certainly helps bring the balance point back to a more natural position for me. I like it, and it was bought and paid for by me. No sponsorship here.. ive owned pretty much everything from nightforces to vortex stuff and everything else. This just works,it's sensibly priced and does what I need it too. I'm happy to recommend it,especially if you want something more compact. 😉
Alright nice video, do you know anything about lead free slugs. Do you think they would be any good in .177 sub 12 as it would bring the weight down because they are to heavy in lead. I haven't seen anyone trying them so it would be interesting to find out. I might be wrong but I thought it would make them ideal for sub 12 . Any way thanks for the video
Hi David, I've a video going live tommorow morning on the .177 slug testing. I've had some interesting results I wanted to share The 10grain slugs are fine at that weight, in the right barrel. That's the most important bit really. Check the video out tommorow,I explain a few bits 😉
@@tillysgunstocks do you think they are worth trying in lead free and does the weight reduction make them any better. Could they be as good as pellets as the BC is better in slug's or doesn't the little change in weight make enough difference for sub 12
Interested to see if a barrel with the choke cut off will shoot slugs better, if so I have hope that you could have a mid priced breakbarrel like Hatsan cut and threaded for pest control tool.
I've just been out testing the slug barrel in the 9015. Results so far are inconclusive. But somewhat interesting none the less. I'll put it all into film when I get time as I'm sure we might all learn something 🤔
@@tillysgunstocks Will wait to see then, from what little I know springs have a chance of a few advantages with manual single feed and the obturation from pressure spike, but also needs a short enough barrel to keep the friction losses down for sub12 so maybe in the reported optimum 9" range like TX200HC or some old theoben, maybe a slightly eased lead in to the barrel. Then there's crown type because of the dish base etc etc. Not someone who can afford to do that sort of testing though.
Hi Tom, I plan to try them out at some point. I'd like to redo some of this testing through a proper ft/hft spec rifle in time. I've not used the 9015 in a couple years so need to give it a service and once over ASAP.
I have mate. I've a video on here with the domed heavies, streamlines and jsb heavies side by side. None of the batches of the domed have been any good in any of my barrels. The streamlines though are great 👍
RWS obviously have some severe problems when it comes to naming their pellets: if this one is ULTRA heavy, what their power bolt (0.92 gram) line should be called then? UltraSuperCallaFragelisticIncredibleAwesome heavy? Anyway, those Power bolts are perfect match for extremely powerful 177 airguns, based on my experience, but DO NOT even try to shoot them from a 5 to 6 fpe gun.
There's quite a large range of rws pellets in europe mate, the super domes and super fields are probably the most popular though I'd reckon. It seems the norma branded ones are also made in the same factory. I dont know for sure but it seems highly likely 😉
I want to say, I really like your channel, very enjoyable content.. But I really feel for you Brittish lads.. You have to settle for underpowered air rifles..I know you guys would prefer the fully powered air rifles we have here in the states.. Who wouldn't? What's the reason why you can't have gun with higher pressures? If your responsible enough to shoot projectiles at 696 fps , Which is pretty dam fast at that, What's the rationale for the restriction? It makes little sense to me.. If you were to use your air gun to hunt small game or use it for pest control, the more damage you do, the more humane the kill.. On many levels this confuses me.. 🤔
Hi mate thanks for the kind words. Tbh the sub12 limit isn't really that bad. If you think that the majority of the uk,on small farms and stuff we are on a much smaller scale than in the USA. So mainly shorter distances involved. It's actually quite easy to obtain a firearms certificate here and have much higher powers if you have the justification for them. We can also easily have much larger calibre centrefire rifles, if we have a justification for them. That's the key thing really. If I had a 2k acre permission it would be easy to obtain permission to have some mad powder burners. I dont really know much about that sort of stuff, but if you have a use for it and the space it's not really a problem to get it. Our ft lads can target shoot out to 55yards with a degree of accuracy that has to be seen, to be believed. With the affiliation of world ft shooting. The power level is run at sub12. Our uk lads come over to the USA and show you how its done😆 (Thats a friendly joke BTW 😉) Cheers for watching !
Pete alone is worth a thumbs up.
100% 😂
Pete stole the show, there. 👏👏

Outstanding shipmate. Press on. USS Kitty Hawk CV_63. Jan 1980 to July 1983. Air gunner for life A.
Very interesting and as you say some real world testing. Looking forward to you trying out more of the cheaper pellets.👍
Slugs next mate, whilst the weathers not too bad. Then probably my first full stock build on film and then back to budget pellet testing 😉
Im glad you left the scene in with Peter. Funny as!.... Nice shooting. I didnt know about these pellets. Gonna have to get some and try them. Rob.
I'm out filming this morning and he's mugged me off twice already 😆

They are definitely worth a further few tests.
Good video,👍

I’m sure if you weighed the pellets and batched them the groups would tighten up. I use .22 Super Field’s but they differ in weight a lot!
My s510 tr love Qys 9.56 but I’m getting good results from Norma ftt 9.1. Good video mate, keep them coming 👍🏼

Great video Tommy. Absolutely love the goat 🤣 what's (s)he called?
Looking forward to seeing progress on the 9015. Keep up the good work mate!
Thats Peter goat. He's really old now but he's a real character.
I've just been playing with the 9015, results so far... inconclusive 🤔
Looking forward to comparison tests on some budget vs high end rifles - same scopes & pellets ?
Probably not the same scope, as I've not got a matching pair but certainly some involved breakdowns of the rifles and how they perform in the real world, wind etc..😉

Qys streamlined for ever! Lol.
Very Accurate & batter little critters when they hit them!
