Looks like a lot of work per pull. I've been trying to work out how to reduce both the labor and initial waste pulling with the Recreator3D and I want to try some kind of quick release clamp coupler on a single fold of the loose end around a pin.

I’d be interested in seeing what you design! When the ribbon is the correct thickness and width, there’s a lot of tension on that filament, so whatever you design would have to be strong to prevent the end from slipping out of your ‘clamp’.

@@KevinGroninga3D I'm always aiming for full density, not hollow straw, so if I get something to work I think it'll match what you'd be hoping for. I'm not sure if the tension is higher with wide+thin strips though. My experience so far is mostly with thick strips.

@@daliasprints9798 the bottles I use are .3mm thick, so my ribbons are just about 8mm wide. When I pultrude them. There’s quite a bit of tension, but they will still pull thru the nozzle and I get a good filament with little or no hollow on the inside. So I’m always a little skeptical of contraptions made to attach the filament to the take-up spool because of the amount of tension there and the fact that the gadget is now a big lump on the spool. But, I’ll keep an open mind and watch for what you design. I’d be happy to unit test one once you’ve created your design and done your own testing.
