A voice so beautiful and perfect that one might be mistaken for thinking we are listening to angels. Absolutely spine chillingly gorgeous and a beaming light in so much darkness. Especially in this sad year of 2020.
This is so beautiful. I don't understand almost any of it, but I have been trying to learn Gaelic and found this while looking for a term of endearment for the guy who started helping me put back the pieces of my broken heart. 💝

I love the way you sing this, Alison. I haven't heard another performance that gives importance to the leading tone in the third verse. That, in a song that is pentatonic except for the leading tone, makes the whole song more expressive in a subtle way. I heard the Scots are frugal. Listening to this song shows how that can be desirable.
Gaeilge Gaelic came from Ireland it was the Irish Gaels who brang Gaeilge Gaelic to Scotland and Isle of man the Scottish were pics from picland spoke pictish teanga chumhachtach na nGael 🇮🇪⚓🏴
The Irish populated Scotland, more or less decimated the picts and then absorbed the remainder. A historic fact some deny because of religion and politics, another Gaelic trait the clan rivalry 🇮🇪🏴
the gaels are a tribe some say originating from ireland under a leader from egypt. the mother of the gaels is said to be meritaten. or scota ..as the romans called her. she is supposed to be buried in county kerry. the scota people who moved from ireland to scotland after she died became the scots. or scotii along with hibernii, they had land on the west, and eventually the picts scotti the welsch of strathclyde and the scandinavians eventually blended into who we are today. there will be more additions through time we are not taught of. we are an eclectic mix indeed and peace to us all.
"love and light of my heart?" I may have any colloquial translation wrong but even so, if this is near the English translation of the title of this song, it fits beautifully & sounds literally like that (love/light/my heart) :) and still a year after @Kory mentioned it & 5 years after it was uploaded, there are STILL only 2 soulless people who could dislike a piece as beautiful as this. I have hope for humanity (on YT at least) yet... The only thing I dislike about it is that I wish it were 4x as long so I could listen to her sing this even longer. ❤️
This is so beautiful. It makes me want to snuggle with kittens on one hand, visit the graves of my family members that have gone on before me on the other hand. What is this song about anyways?
Canadian? I don’t think so. Alison is/was a neighbor of mine and I wasn’t informed that the beautiful valley that we live in moved from Oregon to Canada.

To be honest , I can't listen to this for long. Raised in the Cairngorm Highlands I get so homesick.
Myself being away from home and for so long, I empathise.

The amount of love i have for this song is amazing
Bheir mi ò hu ò hò
'S mi fo bhròn 's tu gam dhìth
'S iomadh oidhche fliuch 's fuar
Ghabh mi cuairt 's mi leam fhìn
Gus an d' ràinig mise 'n t-àit'
Far an robh gràdh geal mo chridh'
Sèist:
Bheir mi ò hu ò hò
Bheir mi ò hu ò hì
Bheir mi ò hu ò hò
'S mi fo bhròn 's tu gam dhìth
Dhèanainn treabhadh dhut is buain
Chumainn suas thu gun dìth
Bheirinn às a' ghreabhal chruaidh
Do mo luaidh teachd an tìr
Ged nach eil sinn fhathast pòsd'
Tha mi'n dòchas gum bi
Fhad' 's a mhaireas mo dhà dhòrn
Cha bhith lòn oirnn a dhìth
Bheir mi ò hu ò hò
I am sorrowful without your company
Many nights wet and cold
I took a trip all by myself
Until I reached the place
Where was my heart's fair love
Chorus (after each verse):
Bheir mi ò hu ò hò
Bheir mi ò hu ò hì
Bheir mi ò hu ò hò
I am sorrowful without your company
I would plough and reap for you
I would keep you unfailingly
I would take from the hard gravel
A livelihood for my love
Although we are not yet married
I hope we will be
As long as I have my two hands
We will want for nothing

One of the best things I have ever heard
A beautiful, heart-gladdening performance. -And the graphics! The transition of nature scenes from Autumn through to Summer is brilliant.

I want to fully understand the words I am learning Scottish Gaelic
Please , is it sung in Irish or Scottish ?
I don 't understand anyway but i want to know
It is a Scots-Gallic.
The Ulster dialect of Irish is the most mutually understandable dialect of Irish to Scots-Gallic.
