    I do talk about the panic attack symptoms and sensations I experienced at the time so please, if you are easily triggered by discussions of symptoms, you might want to skip this one.

    My first panic attack felt the same way. I felt disassociated from my body. It was horrible. It terrified me and I thought I was going crazy! You described it perfectly. Thank God I found you on panicstation.

    Thank you for saying "WE" will get better...."WE" will beat this, "WE" cannot go on living in fear like this. That small words really makings such a difference to me. It's like a psychological play on the brain or something because when it's a group setting, I feel more motivated to not only try for myself but to try to encourage others and not to let them down either. The new addition to my bucket list is to meet you one day in person.

    good video. i remember my first one also, over 20 years ago. i have had ups and downs ever since. the thing i hate most about my anxiety is my symptoms change every time it comes back. lately i feel like im living in a dream, brain fog, detached from reality, bad concept of time and days, tingling sensations, headaches, slight depression from the constant worry. the symptoms and feelings are almost indescribable. i had a minor attack at a business meeting the other day, i got up and excused myself politely and made it to the bathroom. it was uncomfortable but ive dealt with these for so long i made it out ok. went home and collapsed on the bed for an hour, these things suck the life out of you.

    Yes!!! Thank you for sharing. I remember my first panic attack like it was yesterday. Those feelings are how I feel. Like that very first attack changed me forever and I fear the next one too. We will beat this.

    Thank you again for your transparency. I found all your videos. The one's I've watched have helped me so much. I Know this is going to sound nuts but I really get stressed right before I click on site. I can barely watch all of one. But once it's over and I've had a while to calm down; I feel so informed and grateful. Only been a subscriber for about a week. Thanks once again. All DR's wants to do is put me on meds. I'm more messed up with them.

    I had my biggest and scariest panic attack on weed. I called the ambulance bc I thought I was going to die. ER doc gave me ativan/lorazepam which I am never given bc I am an addict and that was my first drug of choice. I have panic disorder so I get a lot of attacks...now I don't do anything if I think I am going to die I don't call anyone I just lie in bed or try to rush home...I don't go out much except close or with a buddy....good vlog.

    I had a panic attack in a cinema. I can relate to the notion of in my mind processing how to overcome anxiety but my heart saying otherwise

      Looking back over my childhood I can see moments that I had anxiety episodes....BUT my first huge Panic Attack was in the Cinema too. It was my eighteenth birthday and out of nowhere I felt as though I couldn't swallow ...One minute I was okay...I'm watching Harry Potter and the next minute I became a Panic Disorder sufferer!
      I just remember thinking over and over again that I was going to choke and die there and then...I didn't know very much about anxiety then so I took all of the symptoms at face value... i.e "This feels dangerous so it must be dangerous"! It's all a trick of the mind of course but it's a damn convincing trick nonetheless!
      After therapy and a lot of hard work I have largely overcome these problems! I'm married and in my thirties now...life is good!

    I remember my first panic attack when I was 21. I was also playing a video game 007 on the ps2 on Easter Sunday and I felt out of sorts. Went to the bathroom to try and sort self out, came downstairs and sat back down and that was it wham full hyperventilation and felt i was dying. I ended up in a and e and my hands went into spasm and they gave me a diazapam to calm my body down. Since then it was constant panic attacks and anxiety. Took me 7 years to get over agoraphobia etc and got my life back. Few years ago I went through bad relationship and now back to square one. Fully agoraphobic and full blown anxiety at 37.

    Hi there, thank you for your message. 2 years ago I suffered a mental breakdown/burnout/anxiety attack and was hospitalized for near suicide. It was from being over worked and heart broken. I am 29 now. Can I fully recover? I am seeing a phsycologist and phsyciatrist, just terrified about going back into work. Thank you

    Have you tried beta blockers? From time to time they help me do stuff until I'm used to doing it and then I feel like I don't need them any more for that particular thing.

    • @anxietyunited
      @anxietyunited  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paula Johnson been on beta blockers for ages. I'm not sure they have much of an effect on me anymore.

    • @paulasynjohnson
      @paulasynjohnson 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Propranolol? you have to hit the right dose. I took either 40 or 80mg twice a day at the peak of my anxiety. It helped me break the cycle of my agrophobia. Did have side effects that ended a relationship though. Now I'm on the occasional 10mg. It's far more complex that I've written here. Take them when you're going to be in a stressful situation not all the time

    • @anxietyunited
      @anxietyunited  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paula Johnson my doc prescribed me 80mg slow release, one a day. I've been talking of coming off them for a while, but anxiety about stopping them is pretty overwhelming.

      The worst thing for me is when I get anxious about becoming anxious and it builds up to a big big panic attack.

    • @anxietyunited
      @anxietyunited  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paula Johnson I'd agree with that. these days it's more of a gradual build up of anxiety than a full blown panic out the blue.
