I was wondering this also. So are you saying the water goes off one side of the roof which does not have the raised edge because it is sloped? I apologize. I am confused because I’m trying to finish off a roof that I don’t have money to pay a professional for. The rubber membrane is on and I need to attach a cornice… But the water needs to go somewhere! Fit these all the time. Couple of tips. When you glue and activate the joint covers just do one side as this allows it to expand. If you glue the whole thing to both parts they can split. Also when trimming the rubber under the trims use a hook blade in your Stanley knife. Lastly try to get some one to help on the gutter drip by pulling the rubber while the other person nails the drip trim. Makes the water run off easier. Before we lay the rubber we give the OSB board a quick sand with some 80 grit paper to a, give the glue a better key and b, to knock off any bits of paper from the nail gun or chips from the countersunk screw heads. Perfect video mate btw. ❤
should have a layer of fastend underlayment on top of osb..i fear the wood is not suitable..i am a part of roofong local 44 cleveland with 25 yrs experience. we NEVER glue to osb..and wood only on walls ..also we glue twice on walls as the wood absorbs the glue drastically. also we glue both rubber and the deck

@@worklife4221 im saying how u have done it for 25yrs.. Never dry rubber, also what if something falls on it? shouldn't there be an insulation to absorb impact?. who makes the product? We use Firestone, and Carlisle.
Prep was an EPDM primer and applied onto sterling board also can be applied onto plywood just make sure it’s dust free with no bits sticking up that can puncture the rubber
Very helpful Video, a tip though for potential users, PVA the top surface of your Boards to seal (These Boards are very porous) and paint the edges, and left to dry, anything will do as long as It's oil based.
I was told by a rep for the supplier of the rubber roof system that PVA can have a reaction to the adhesive and therefore is not recommended although sounds a good idea, not sure how true this is though.
Really helpful, cheers. Any advice on how to stick and seal the rubber to a vertical brick surface that is next to the roof? My flat roof butts against a taller brick wall. Thanks again.
@@rdword2345 The edge adhesive is stronger as the manufacturer advises it, as for the type of adhesive I can’t remember but I’m sure that I showed it in the video
@@worklife4221 so you don't have to keep getting up and walk around the glue around the edges.. I'm not picking... I just asked if there was a reason you started at the rolled up rubber end rather than work back towards it...
@@mervmervalot2296 I do it that way so that I can roll the adhesive onto a bigger area as rather than kneeling on the rubber , but I do it the other way as well
@@JdsjsKdmem your totally wrong buddy with this rubber roof system you only roll adhesive to one side , I haven’t fitted other brands so I cannot comment on weather they are the same.

The back edge isn’t raised so as the roof has a fall on it the water all runs off into the gutter

Some companies don't supply contact adhesive now, except for doing upright surfaces.
They only supply the water based glue and mastic for the edges.

I used the 1.2mm rubber which is the most common one to use,they also do 1.5mm which is more for commercial use, hope this helps

Hard to tell as I need to see a picture, is it possible to fix sterling board or ply to the wall?
Decent work, but where is the drip trim into the gutter? No way near enough overhang to even make it into a gutter?
watch again bud there was plenty of overhang and when tested the water ran into it just fine

Hi mate, I'm an installing the osb3 next week. Is there a need for an expansion gape between boards? If so will it effect the EPDM rubber long term?
No need for an explanation gap as it will effect the rubber

We too only do the OSB board. Sticks like 💩 to a blanket as they say.
