    Just started watching your channel & it’s very good! 1. You are not shouting 2. You are not fat, you are a normal build for a bloke 3. It’s nice to see someone who knows exactly what he’s doing! A lot of people don’t realise that proper tradesmen work at quite a rate!!! Good work

    I love everything about your work ethic and attitude when working. It's easy to see you're a good worker.
    Only thing i want to add is the contract adhesive is highly recommended by the EPDM companies and there must be good reason for it. As someone else said it's likely to reduce stress and lifting.
    Otherwise brill job. Would be great to have an update video on this roof to see how it held up. That would shut myself and the neysayers up quick

      😂there’s 40k people on my face book group, I’m estimating that at least 3k have followed my build packs and not used contact adhesive. Never an issue, fair enough if you’ve got upstands or adjoining a house wall.
      But it’s a flat roof with mechanical fixings to all edges, never had a problem 👌

    Hi Liam just did my rubber roof on gym for my daughter , watched your videos me joiner also but have picked up few good ideas from yourself 👍 one thing might help with 2 nd part gutter trim is to cut bit approx 12 long and use it to push up rubber first the capping piece is much easier to chap on once the return rubber is up under trim cheers shug

    The reason for contact adhesive round the edge is because that's the most stressful area of the roof and even thought trim nails it in place you still end up with bubbles around the edges after 12 month or so.. seen it plenty of times

    Another great Video for us DIYers! I am just about to build my wife a posh shed and will use EPDM so this is very useful to see the upvc details. In fact I used a Butly Rubber pond liner on a shed I built 15 years ago and it is still going strong, Didn't even glue that one down! I have worked out the main difference between William and myself. He spends 5% of the time thinking and 95% working - I am the opposite ! lol

    • @thegardenroomguru

      Suppose that theory would be ok if temp at time off fitting was consistent, but it’s designed to be fit all year , and if the middle shrinks how would that effect the outside100mm , who knows, but never had a problem after using for years, I’ll go on the course one day 💪

    • @Ben-yw2vh
      @Ben-yw2vh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AH-yg4qp it went very well, its a really easy system. the two things to watch out for are to ensure the joints of your roof boards are perfectly sealed, sanded and flush. I have one joint that wasnt T&G and you can tell as it has a very slight ripple along it. the other thing is make sure you dont cut the overhang too short as it needs more than you think to wrap up under the gutter trim. Mine was about 5mm too short in several places and the rubber kept popping out. If that happens I recommend cutting some small sections off the trim to use as shims. worked a treat for me.
      Good luck! 😎👍

    Quick question. I’m creating a balcony area and wanted ask if Epdm rubber would’ve a good idea as we will be walking on it? I also may wanted add decking to it obviously not nailing into the roof but a floating timber frame sitting on top with deck boards on that? What would you say?

  • @jerrywarren6959
    @jerrywarren6959 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is the glue water resistant?
    Marking the joists is good but standard for decnt for chippies.
    Alternatively you could actually you could leave a 50mm expansion joint at each end,run a chalk line through and that would be good .
    Then if the are is out of square you simply cut off at the other end again leaving a 50mm expansion space .
    If out of square you may find that your cutting down from as an example 65mm to 43mm keeping your expansion space.
    However if an expansion space s not required or recommended reduce your gap to say 2mm ,chalk line follow through and square up the other end .
    Glue would be recommended then you’ve got a belt and braces job taking into account any heating up and cooling down of external weather conditions/ temperatures and condensation etc which can accumulate and cause unnecessary issues between the fascia and boarding

I’ve just done a 7m x 3.5m on my garage roof today and it had one from when it was folded. The only solution I had was to put weight on it overnight. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

    Had an apex roof shed with rubber roof membrane installed but the fitters never used any adhesive, when I asked why, they said they now dont glue rubber roofs as the adhesive doesn't work, but I think thats bull and believe it should be glued down, so am now querying this with the company..btw, good video thanks..

    Would rollering the adhesive on with a roller and pole maybe save your back a bit? Good job, now subbed :)
