Genuinely my dream car! 5th gen and 3rd gen are the two cars I really want to have the chance to own! I’ve got a bunch over where I live and I’m hoping to buy one!
My first car was a 1989 Prelude Si. I bought a white one back In 2001 for my 1st car at 16 ! I was lucky to grow up to witness the import scene from start to finish .. I swapped an H22 Vtec into it along with 5-speed trans ..miss that car dearly now!
I daily drive a 5th gen, it's been my favorite car of any I've had over the last 30 years. 165k miles and it looks great, runs great. I've been through the entire car, and it is really is easy to work on. A/C, fuel pump, really everything. And that clunking you're referring to when it's cold are the top bushings on the rear shock mounts in the trunk.
I'm rebuilding the motor on mine right now. For the love of God make sure your oil is topped off constantly these things like to burn oil. You can't bore the cylinder sleeves either and they're prone to piston slapping so watch out
I have a 2001 prelude type sh and a fa5 civic si the 8th gen civic si is the last honda that has that golden age honda feel with the engine and tight handling and fun. both high revving vtec engines with 200hp i will say the civic si despite mine being the 4 door weighs the exact same but is faster corners nearly the same. 8th gen si is an amazing car but the prelude feels so fresh after driving something newer and less connected you cant beat double wishbone with cable throttle and hydraulic steering
Also the good, its got a premium feel, it has a leather dash and all, it feels sturdier than civic/integra, has an electric sunroof etc.. Was actually the most expensive Honda in the lineup when it came out (aside from NSX)
U should do a 4th gen Prelude video, more selections of trim and engines and even came in a rare all wheel steering version. Also H series r very reliable they just aren’t good for power adding cuz they r FRM sleeved which doesn’t like aftermarket pistons and rings. Good shit 👍
imported a RHD type S few years ago and it was the best thing I've done. Take it out for an evening ride just about every day. Way faster stock than the EM1 I had and more of a sporty feel in general. My only complains would be lack of aftermarket and the ATTS unit works half the time. Hoping to swap an Accord Type R trans at some point. I think its a way underrated Golden Era Honda
damn how could you not talk about the fact that the type SH has 10 balljoint, and the fact the 5th gen have really bad tail light seals and sunroof drain so water infiltration is common
Another thing to mention for the ugly part is that if you arent kept up on the oil and you starve the engine, youll destroy the FRM cylinder sleeves that come on all of these H series motors which are not oversizeable and youll have to re sleeve the motor with iron sleeves which is not cheap. Watch the oil level for sure
This was a good and helpful video especially since I’m thinking about getting a 5th Gen Prelude as my first car, also I hope u do a good/bad/ugly on owning an S550 Mustang
had my 01 prelude for just over two years now, only real issues it gave me was left me stranded once from a broken harmonic balancer, and it was shutting down on me from an old main relay. harmonic balancer is just bad luck, but main relay is something that should be changed in any pre 2000’s honda, the solder goes bad. i’ve spent a lot of time undoing the shitty modifications of the previous owner, last of which will hopefully be to get rid of the terrible fart can exhaust. however the car feels amazing, corners incredibly well, and really does have a good amount of pickup in vtec. i went with base to avoid atts problems, as well as many suspension & other SH specific parts being very hard to find
Brotha this is all wrong. Engine is exact same. Hp is same throughout all years on manual. SH only has different springs and outer tie rods and front upper arms. And heavier. Interior is exactly the same except sh gets small door lights. 😂😂😂
Preludes are great cars...just not Gen 5. And not becausee it's a terrible car, its just the worst of all the generations. Gen 3, and especially 4, where absolutely amazing cars
video idea- mark rodens guide to learning manual
Yeah I’ll need that video.
He made older videos showing how to drive manual but to have a complete guide yes ❤
He has one already bro bro
Yea he should do another one

I really hope that the prelude doesn’t shoot up in price because I need to get my grimy little hands on a 5th gen.
Same

Picking up my 5th gen Prelude next week. Always loved the way these cars look, found a clean, low mileage example, so I just had to pick it up.
This is perfect i literally just bought a prelude type SH as my first car
Be careful when ordering parts, some are SH specific

@loudwrenchdude dude i legit am rebuilding mine rn too😭😭😭💀

You got a leather dash bro 😭
and S2K..
@@georgeboyd4619 prelude came out before the s2k
@lukatrdina5108 yes, I reread your reply and understood what you meant lol
W vid! Also, vid 3 of asking for top 10 station wagons under 10k! (And maybe a good/bad/ugly of the 2nd gen chevy cobalt ss)
my first project car! very fun but the prelude curse is real
User error
I have a 5th gen white with the exact body kit as the first few min of the video. I love it so much

Im glad I purchased my type sh last year
110k miles Been in a garage since I bought it leather seats and I only drive it 4 to 5 times a month
Beautiful car I love it! Masterpiece, me personally I think 195 HP is great for daily driver. Plus it’s Honda!
i’d not give up my 97 in a million years, but boy is it a money pit😅
you have to really like them to keep them going.
damn how could you not talk about the fact that the type SH has 10 balljoint, and the fact the 5th gen have really bad tail light seals and sunroof drain so water infiltration is common
My wishes have been granted, thank you 🙏

Hard to find parts for this car 😢
and VERY expensive😭

Got a 98 base JDM h22a swap lots of goodies love the shit out of it but Jesus it’s been a process haha wouldn’t give it up for anything
volvo s60r pls
3rd gen sold the most by volume so is the most popular
My mom had one of those.
The body isnt that close to the integra to me
The 5th gen auto is literally hondas worst automatic transmission by far. Most blew up around 90km even with fluid changes. They just are brittle
This bucket might be my introduction to being a car guy

There was a refresh in 2000 that added 5HP, I assume that's where he got that.
S2000 is not FWD just saying 😁☝️

I dont agree, the 3 and 5 are the best, the 4 is a mistake imo ( because that's true but the designer of 4 are not the same as 3 and 5)
@@timothee6969100% agree with you🙏🏽 I have a 5th gen and I love it
...... I like all of them. Own a 5th gen manual.
SH=headache
Stance cars are ridiculously dumb. Change my mind.
Prelude curse is the ugly part of the car!
Looks ugly.
