  • This is probably the most popular(for a good reason) FREE knitted sweater pattern that is available in all sizes and is written in different weights of yarn. It also is a great foundation pattern if you want to add cables or different stitches to make designs. I've seen so many ways knitters have used this pattern and it's all awesome! The sky is the limit and I love seeing everyone's unique creations. There are definitely some very talented people out there and it's so inspiring to me.
    Because this sweater comes in LOTS of different sizes, please please, do NOT forget to follow along with me with the written pattern. If you don't, it will be confusing since I am making one particular size. It would be way too hard to add all the info of each size and I don't want to give away the pattern without you having to download and support the designer.

    I belive you missed the part where one knits "even" after the increases before separating the sleeves, unless you didn't need them?

    I was skimming the video for the short rows. I didn't see them. Is there help out there for the short rows? I don't think I did mine correctly. I've only don't short rows on socks before.

    I have a lot of trouble binding off loosely but have used jenys stretchy bins off on socks, could I use it with the hem and sleeves of this sweater? 🧐 Great tutorial this will be my first sweater!!

    Hey! Thank you!
    Does “4 rounds even” mean 8 rounds? This is mentioned after the increases in the yoke are finished.

    I am following your wonderful video and knitting the sweater. Could I trouble you with a question? On the sleeves, can I use a 24 inch circular for the magic loop or must it be 32 inch? The magic loop intimidates me. Thank you!

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You can try the 24" and see if it has enough slack to do the magic loop. Let me know if it works!

    I’ve had this pattern in my queue for a long time. Have you seen that they updated the pattern to include short row shaping and have a cropped length option for both this one and flax light?

    If I miss an increase while doing the kfb’s in Row1 of the garter stitch section, can I do a kfb on R2, on the purl row? 😬

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can pick up a stitch and I'm sure it will be fine. Just make sure to do it where you missed it.

    I’m confused about which needles to use when. When did you switch to the 32” circular? My pattern shows 2 needle sizes : 6 and 8. Cast on with the #6, 16” ? Till when ? And when do you switch to the 32” #8? So confused…

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! It's been a while since I've made it but if I remember correctly, I used the 32" needles for the body. The sleeves I used the 16". Maybe start with 16" when you're doing the yoke, and if it starts to get too crammed, then switch to the larger size 32. The needle size 6 is for the 1x1 ribs like on the yoke and the bottom of your sweater and sleeves.

      @crystald3655 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To simplify it the small size needle is used for the ribbing the larger for everything else. As for the cables. I switched as needed during the increase section in the yoke to keep from losing stitches or it being hard to knit.

    Hi, I'm enjoying your tutorial! I've got to the part where I've done the 18 repeats of round 1-2. It says it should measure 9.5 (mine doesn't), so when it suggests adding more rounds until it measures the correct length, does that mean more of rounds 1-2? If so, will this not make following the rest of the pattern difficult in terms of stitch counting? Sorry if this is a silly question.

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! As long as you end on the row that it says to, it shouldn’t matter how many rows you do. Did you make a gauge swatch to ensure your are using the correct sized needles?

    • @natt2157
      @natt2157 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iKNITS I did, not sure where I've gone wrong, maybe I've knitted tighter than my swatch sample. But I'll add the extra rows of 1-2 as it mentions and go from there. It looks lovely so far, especially given its my first sweater! Thank you for your reply! Looking forward to following the rest!

    So I just finished casting off the bottom of my flax sweater and I 'tried' to cast-off loosely but it's still noticeably tight (I tried it on). Are there any other cast off stitches that would have resulted in a stretchier cast off?

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you try using a bigger sized needle to bind off with? There’s something that’s called “Jeny’s stretchy bind off” but I’ve never tried it before

    • @Schmiegelette

      @@iKNITS I used the larger needle #8(?) to bind off. Maybe I just need more practice, this is my first sweater. 😀

    Why are these directions different when i look at them on my computer vs. when i look at them on my phone? I downloaded it onto my computer, and there, is says set aside 62 sts for sleeves on waste and to CO 8 using backwards loop, on my phone, pattern says to set aside 60 on waste yarn and CO 12 using backwards loop..... why are these different? I shouldnt have to carry my computer with me to be able to do a pattern or risk it doing something stupid!

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, so I followed the written pattern exactly how it is. Depending on the size you're making, it'll be different amount of stitches. I seem to always lose my place when I'm reading an intricate pattern on my phone so I started printing it off and it saved me a lot of time and headaches, and I don't feel as dumb every time I'd lose my place 🫠

      I've found that tin can knits has different numbers on the PDF and in their app for the same size. Not sure what's up with that.
