- Stock photos are used everywhere, except for video games. Today, I decided to change that by trying to make a game using ONLY stock photos!

@@lirich0Unreal is barely fit for an indie game or prototyping. Too big, too many features, too good. Seriously you don't always need something that good nor advanced if you aren't going to utilize it. Also believe me you don't want a monopoly of unreal engine in gaming, it can only do harm.
This actually isn’t bad.
I would like it if there was a score system and a new enemy. The new enemy can be a hammerhead shark that’s faster than the regular shark but doesn’t spawn as often and gives more points to the score when shot. It would be hilarious to add more stock photos of literally anything just for fun but this is a nice and simple game so I doubt this would get a sequel.
if thered be a shark that gives more points then it would move in a horizontal sine wave pattern, getting less wavy the closer it is to the player

If you decide to update this game, stock sounds would be awesome! Fun fact: Lots of games technically DO use stock images and sounds, usually stock textures. That's why sometimes you may see the same texture in multiple games (sometimes recolored), like the cobblestone bricks you'd see in a lot of N64 and PS1 games.
Every single asset in Getting over it is recicled, that's part of the sweet of the game!

i thought btd6's sound effects were original, but then i played king god castle and it had a few of the same ones
so i can confirm that games do use stock sounds
Be careful with using stock photos with the watermark. The spiffing Brit got in trouble and had to buy the stock photos then added his own watermark to keep the same feel.

This concept reminds me of getting over it with how sporadic all the pictures are. It would be really funny if everything was 3d modeled and looked really polished, but was all just as random as the stock photos they're based on

Few years back when I had just gotten into gamedev, I found your channel and it was so cool how you made games without engines and with a strict time limit. I thought that you were a genius because of a complicated code you showed off on your videos! And also it was very impressive how you ported your game to very different consoles. I hadn't seen your channel for a while and when I found out what you were doing on your second channel now I was well... a bit disappointed. Now you are making games with as easy to use engines/softwares like unity and POWERPOINT?? I liked your old main channel style a lot more, but keep doing what you like, it's just my opinion. He didn't change any code. He just opened the inspector in his browser (CTRL+Shift+I) and looked for the element where the link to the image was.

Are you using the C# version of godot? If not, why are you putting the ; at the end? Honestly, I prefer the normal (gdscript) version of godot. Great video and amazing game!
He's using GDScript and its probably just habit. GDScript doesn't actually throw any errors when you use ; at the ends of lines, you just don't need them so its probably better to not use them. But at least they don't break anything.
Okay, I guess that is a good thing they thought of when making their own language for their own engine. I just recently got into game dev and almost instantly switched to godot and I find it to be amazing.
