I was stuck waiting onsite in a hire car for hours the other day and I was wishing I could stream a movie to the large center screen in the car. This is a win!
They have wireless android auto adapters. You could also get an inexpensive tablet with a much bigger screen for entertainment / productivity which you can pair to your car's Bluetooth and phone's hotspot for data.
This should also be able to do Motorola's Ready For, which recently went through a name change, Motorola Connect, I think, but this could even work with phones that have desktop mode enabled, like the Pixel 8 & Pixel 9 Series, etc, or even RedMagic's "console" mode.
Literally thinking the same thing. But I've got a fold 6... And Mount it over my cars screen and can do whatever I want, usually split screen maps/Apple music and maps/TH-cam (🤫)
Same question I have a wireless android auto adapter, and the one I have seem to have a bit of delay, not major, but you can tell when you skip a spoify track while you have spotify open on your phone It's like a second or so delay, I would say
Yep there will be lag when you introduce anything wireless. Audio apps like Spotify with lag isn't so bad but video apps like Netflix will show it with lipsync issues.
bad thing i heard lastly, One UI 7 update will lose Dex option. really bad for sumsung to decide going without Dex. now they will lose so of their clients going forward.
I fail to see how this is THAT useful if your have a fold tho? I have a fold 6 and I use a mag safe mount on my dash (CD mounted) and have split screen maps/Apple music and it's legit sick. And then I can have it face more towards me than a cars screen would. I understand it's cool to have but maybe for a user who has a galaxy S not a fold. Ill take full use of my phone driving with split screen apps any day of the year over a cars basic infotainment system.
I think where the use case for this increases is for passengers. Anyone could then cast their Samsung phones to the DeX puck and control it. For a car that doesn't offer android auto, the Fold is phenomenal for how you described it!
Great, but it's unlikely anyone will ever benefit from this. Who would process documents on the car's infotainment screen, given that there are much more convenient ways to do this in your car. Who would use it for navigation and music, when there is Android Auto? Who would play games with this significant lag? The only reason to want this might be if you spend a long time in the car and want to stream movies and videos, however with this lag you might find another way to do it.
Yep. I personally have an Android box. I'm not sure how much this cost but my box doesn't introduce lag. I could run any apps I want and free up my phone as well.
Clever but I can't see a real business case for this if you already have android auto or apple equivalent. I have an aftermarket screen for an Audi Q5 which is a customised fully fledged android tablet which also supports wireless android auto and apple carplay. Dex would be a novelty but can't think of a real use. And have you tried to use a touch screen while the car is moving for anything except touching very large icons as your fingers are bouncing all over the place? LoL 😅
You seriously must be stalking me or something as I just had my car GPS unit totally replaced in my 2014 Corolla yesterday to give it a new lease of life and now you just post this.
I have never used dex or android auto i have had an android car stereo so it was just afull version of android and I just hot spotted and played TH-cam
@techwithbenefits are you sure sir ? Samsung is cooking something big in oui7 . Expecting a backlash. Dex support cancelling, no more side panels , god knows what else
@@alexie40stencsi5 it is a wireless android auto dongle with the ability to connect to Dex so, it seems like a good thing if you are stuck on traffic or have passengers just switch to dex and do some work or play with it
I spend most of my time at work sitting in a truck that has android auto. This would be awesome.
I was stuck waiting onsite in a hire car for hours the other day and I was wishing I could stream a movie to the large center screen in the car. This is a win!
You've just answered my most curious question: "Would Dex work on ANYTHING with Android auto using AutoPro X?" Yes.. Yes it actually would.
I got this a couple of weeks ago and very impressed 😊
This is genuinely so good.
For truckers in parking stops that wouldbe awesome
I know right! I use it when picking my son up from school and have to wait in the pick up zone!

INSANEEEEE!!!! ITs a Casual Productivity machine!!! Totally makes sense in a World were your phone Its the only thing you should Need!!!
I would be all over this if I didn't already purchase and install a 14.5" tablet into my F150's dash.
As Samsung is going to end support for Dex on PCs, will this work in car?
Dex will let you have split screen and pop-up windows with apps that Android Auto doesn't support, like obd2 engine monitoring apps
Hi, are there any navigation or GPS options?
Will this work after the new Dex update? I was thinking about getting this but I am hesitant now if it won't work after the new update

Important question : is there any audio delay when watching videos on netflix, TH-cam, etc ??? Same question for gaming.
Literally thinking the same thing. But I've got a fold 6... And Mount it over my cars screen and can do whatever I want, usually split screen maps/Apple music and maps/TH-cam (🤫)
Not that I've experienced!

This guy's voice makes me feel like I'm about to pull off a heist!
What about carplay override?
My kenwood head unit has screen mirroring. Dex on a car head unit sounds great but the novelty wears off super quickly.
The beauty of dex is its there for when you need it. There will always be a moment where it comes in handy
£150 is a bit steep for this novelty. But it did make me realise I can buy a cheap wireless dongle for wireless android auto hehe
Fun fact, this can act as an android auto wireless dongle as well!
I don't have any use for this, but I would love a a similar gadget that can turn any dumb screen into a wireless dex screen.
One question can you connect that adapter to a portable monitor
Great question! I posed that to the brand, and unfortunately not!
bad thing i heard lastly, One UI 7 update will lose Dex option. really bad for sumsung to decide going without Dex. now they will lose so of their clients going forward.
Incorrect. Samsung is removing support for Samsung DeX on PC. Every other way to use DeX is going to remain
@@techwithbenefitsthat is so sad. I will have to lurke around a portable display since I will be unable to use dex on my laptop.

Wish I would have known about this 6 months ago, or I wouldn't have bought a new radio that had a sim card slot, lol.
This unit will not scale correctly in my 2024 gmc Sierra. I wish dex wireless had more screen ratios.
Will this work on a Tesla
Just on cars with Android Auto!
Genius product

Tempting just to watch TH-cam videos when parked but the screen is low resolution and $200 aud just for that is a bit pricey
I have never used dex or android auto i have had an android car stereo so it was just afull version of android and I just hot spotted and played TH-cam
Wouldn't that make your phone degrade, since dex use 100percent of phone proccesing power, basically a pc
If you use it often i mean
Nah dex isn't overly taxing on your phone, it's just screen mirroring with a different interface
I dont have android auto on my car, can i use this anyway ?
So you are the reason samsung is discontinuing dex for pc.
How am I the reason?
Next time please clean your cars infotainment screen. Its distracting. Hard to see how clear texts are if there is a layer of dust on it.
I was too excited to set it up i didn't even think about it 😅 i did later and that's why it's cleaner later on
Sold!
This is Tesla ls Territory!!!! Please Don't Die... RUN!!!
so fricking laggy
Useless waste of $150 for 99% of the people
But 1% of all people will find it useful? So about 82 million people? Still quite a bit!
Can it be used if your car dose not have android auto ?
$150?
You need to pray the Chinese for making this.
This is a Korean product
techs gone wild 😮😮
Well Samsung is retiring DEX soooooo
Incorrect. They are retiring Samsung DeX for PC
Don't jump..Dex is getting abandoned by Samsung !
No it isn't. Dex for PC is no longer going to be supported from One UI 7. Samsung DeX is absolutely not going anywhere on the whole
@techwithbenefits are you sure sir ? Samsung is cooking something big in oui7 . Expecting a backlash. Dex support cancelling, no more side panels , god knows what else
It's not that great.
WaT!!! 😮
😂😂😂not any car...from 2023 above
I never said any car? It needs to support android auto for starters
