Agreed! Low end is definitely a problem with the FPC!

Nice review. You don't have to apologize. I saw one at a local store one day when I was leaving. I sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes until the owner came out. His wife had left her purse in the front seat so I knew he wasn't alone. I would have asked for a ride if he would have been by himself.
These GT350 Mustangs are the first Mustang to really catch my attention so I know what you mean. When I saw it on the lot I knew I had to try it out.

Good review, I like corvettes look but never owned or driven one. Presently, I own a 2017 Gt 350 all stock except for much lighter wheels ( knocked off 8 pounds per wheel because the stock wheels and tires were boat anchors ( 61 pounds each). That sluggish take off I experienced went away and feels much more torquey down low starting at around 2500 rpms. I also have owned many mustangs (8) including my 2012 Boss 302 and 03 Mach 1 which I enjoy presently as well. I even owned the mighty 03 Cobra!. Just to name a few. As a result, to me this is the most enjoyable all around true sports car I have ever owned. I guess I am somewhat biased, but with the right driver this car can put down some good performance numbers. Most average drivers like myself will never come close to professional drivers times like what you see on Car shows like Motortrend, even in other cars like corvettes and other high power cars. In conclusion, this is an all around sports car with a mustang shell, that’s why it’s called a Gt 350 and I will subscribe to your channel because I love all cars. Thanks for the review.

@@asia23425 yes I purchased the p51 wheels ( black)which dropped on average 8 pounds per wheel. The price was around 1400 shipped to my house. The wheels have held up very well. No spokes cracking like some people have reported. The specs are the same as the Gt 350r. I just used by same tires that came on the Gt 350 with no fitment issues. The price was worth it for me. Hope this helps

As a GT 350 owner and Ford guy I love my Shelby, however, the new C8 Corvette is one hell of a car in performance and value Imo

As a Chevy guy as well, having had 5 C7s, & currently a Z06/Z07, i had to grab one of these to add to the garage. Picked up a 17 on Monday. Absolutely love it.

Great video! I would happily buy a GT350 it's a great car. All the car reviewers universally loved it. Also looks like pricing if not outrageous anymore for the used ones. Do you know if the adjustable suspension modes are standard or optional like they are with the C7s?

I was looking at the Mustang GT 350 and the Camaro ZL1 March 2019 , wasnt even looking at Corvettes until I was at The Chevy dealer. While there I fell in love with the Z06 and bought it the same day. It is my first Corvette and I am still in love, the 2020 Corvette looks very cool but I like the curves better on My C7 Z06. Its the Torch Red too. Great channel ,I just watched your oil change video, I will be doing that next year after my free ones are done. Thanks!!!

Many many rumors out there suggesting this since before the C8.R was revealed with a flat plane crank.
Im looking to buy another car. I believe I want a c6 z06 but I like the gt350 just worried it will not be as fast or handle as well. Any insite would be apprieciated
I think a C6 Z06 would out handle the GT350 because of the weight difference but honestly, either car is pretty awesome.
I love my Vete, but the Mustang is my second choice. Nice car.

Kudos for being a Chevy guy and recognizing that this is a special car. My only complaint is that you didn’t wind the motor up to 7500 rpm; that motor’s sound is especially special (is that a thing?) between 5000 and 7500 rpm...
I am a car guy not necessarily loyal to any brand. I'm definitely able to notice when something is special regardless of who makes it. where I test drove the car I didn't really get a chance to wind it out and I do regret that myself!

How do the seats compare to c7 seats?
I like the C7 seats better, but these were full cloth seats and seemed a little "wide" didn't grip me as well.

Yes. The Recaro seats are an upcharge. The standard seats look much more..... standard.

I ordered / deposit given for a C8 . I have 18 eco Mustang Prem. Going to keep both as I can’t see losing on a trade or private sale. Love Mustang , my 4th , but I want a C8. I had 02 Corvette coupe so I am stoked to drive another one.

I done seen the Vette in person and I'm not impressed.the c7 zo6 or zr1 to me have more of a presence than the c8.i seen a Supra in person and it had more of a presence than a c8 too.its going to have the performance but curb appeal against Lamborghini, Ferrari or Ford GT it ain't cutting it mho.
The Shelby is a high winding engine, big torque at top end. Hell 2014 the car ran 196 miles an hour on a hot day, the driver said if it were cooler and another 1/2 mile it would hit 200. Well that was the 500, but it was also 2014 🇺🇸 MERICA
At 3,791 lbs. Ford wasn't trying too hard to save weight.

I just hate there is a zero chance of a manual transmission for the c8. GM needs to bite the bullet and give us the dream c8 we been asking for. Even if it's a limited run of manuals

@@HorsePowerObsessed I hope a naturally aspirated "5.5L" DOHC FPC V8 is put in a regular production C8 Corrvette. I think one of the shortcomings of the Voodoo V8 is it's 100mm bore spacing forcing a long stroke of 92.7mm and vibration issues. Using a 102.9mm(4.050 inch) bore and 82.55mm(3.25 inch) stroke would greatly reduce vibration(forged alluminum pistons are fairly light, compared to increasing the stroke). I think 5.5L for a V8 is an ideal balance between an engine that is capable of high rpm(8500rpm+ limit), quick revving and on the other hand also has a decent amount of torque.
Agreed. Vibration is a real issue with the FPC and if done right, it could be a monster.

I'm a Ford guy, but because of Ford's engine problems lately I'm considering a ZL1. I'm calling it now GM doesn't have their flat plane motor blowing up left and right. Whatcha got Ford?
I guess I’ll have to drive 1 of these things. I have a 16 c7 z51 cammed and x pipe, and 2012 Roush stage 3 mustang. Very very different cars. I used to own a 17 Cali Special that had full exhaust and the ford power pack 2 upgrade. It was a nice driving car but body roll all over the place and no low end torque. Not even comparable to the c7. The Roush makes 623 to the tires and it’s fast but the c7 is a different kind of car. I feel like I’m driving a super car in that vette. Mustangs are cool but corvette def turned me to Chevy. Cool review though

Jason, what year is it and what's it's price? Just two exhaust settings? I'm sure you would have mentioned it, but does it have mag ride suspension? Would I switch from Corvette to Mustang? Like you, "NOPE," but I definitely wouldn't mind having a GT350, or better yet, a GT350R. Save the Wave.🙋♂️
This was a 2017 and price was round 45k (used with 6600 miles on it). The GT350 DOES come with a "Magneride" system that is quite similar to the magnetic ride control we get on the Corvette. I wouldn't switch, but like you, I wouldn't mind to have one in my arsenal. 😈

I drove one and liked it, but my main complaint was the huge lack of torque. Down low nobody’s home.... I know it’s the nature of the flat plane crank but it was disappointing. Other than that complaint I loved everything else about the car. I would not trade my Z06 for it though 😉

I was no-lift shifting that trans at redline and hammering that thing with everything it had. It was decent up top, but horrible down low and mid range. You say it can keep up with a Z06...? What are you smoking? 😂 Also, you need to check your weights on both cars. GT350 = 3700+lbs. Z06 (2015) = 3500+lbs. The Z06 is 200lbs lighter and has 650hp vs the GT350’s 526hp.
The very best Mustang ever. A stick shift and a genuine track car. And I bought one of course....
I am guessing that the color of that car is called Race Red and that’s what I have on my 2018 Ford Focus RS and it is really bright and does have some orange in it compared to my Corvette: th-cam.com/video/oY1Ldn4tFxU/w-d-xo.html I would like to add one also they are very cool. My friend had a 2018 GT350 and traded it in on a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport. He said it was nice but you really had to rev it to get any power out of it. He did like it but liked the Corvette better. I also love those sequential tail lights.

Another great review, would've loved to hear more about the handling, especially in terms of comparison of a Corvette etc. I don't understand loyalty to a car company? I'm loyal to myself. You never know when (insert car company name here) will be the a better vehicle at one time or another. I've owned all 4 and loved/hated all 4. And yes you're a Ford guy, you just don't know it. Agreed. I'm not loyal to any brand, it just so happens the majority of the cars I've liked and could afford were Chevys. I had a 370Z Nismo back in the day that I loved so I will go wherever the performance/quality/price takes me!

I hit about 6500. Couldn't wind it all the way out unfortunately.
It's sounds vastly better driven aggressively. But you have to buy one to do that though.

Kinda funny nowadays some mustangs are running with vettes and in a lot of cases the mustang wins I’d radther have the gt500
Had my ‘18 GT350 for six months , traded it for new Vette GS . The Shelby was a sublime handler , but not much low end . Going to high RPM , I always thought it would explode , given the engine’s reputation . Happy with my choice . The Grand Sport is better in just about every way . Plus most people think the GT350 is just another Mustang from 50 feet away. And yes the sound of the Voodoo 5.2 is awesome , but is that what you buy a sports car for ?

Agreed on all points. The sound of the car is definitely a selling point for me, but I wouldn't say the GT350 sounds BETTER than my ZR1 per se, it's just different. With that said, I definitely didn't make the wrong decision and neither did you! 😎👍

To me the car looks cheap interior wise and the use of all that old plastic and old design is unacceptable in this day and age. Ford has not progressed the mustangs interior as they have with the outside look. The mustangs still have a great sound though.

I have a 2017 Z06 and a 2019 Bullitt as a daily driver! I have my cake and eat it too! Bullitt sounds better than the Vette but the Z06 will blow the doors off any current Mustang SANS GT500.

While you are usually correct, I'm speaking mostly about the C7 Corvette and there is a lot more plastic on the GT350 than the C7 Corvette has.

I'm confused. 526 HP / 429 Ft-lbs. The regular GT has almost the same 420 Ft-lbs. So if you reved it to the higher redline you'd have roughly the same HP and TQ numbers. Where's the extra 0.2L?
I hate it when they charge you extra for the privilege of over-reving the exact same engine, then call it more powerful. What it is, is worn-out exponentially faster. Any big difference between HP and TQ is a huge red flag.
The math is actually:
460 HP @ 7000
so
8250 RPM over 7000 RPM = 1.18
so
460 HP x 1.18 = 542 HP
So the GT should produce 542 HP with the same redline as the GT350.
Dynos only measure torque, then multiply by RPM to figure HP.
