  • The iconic Ford Mustang is getting a price hike for its 2025 model year, with V8 models bearing the brunt of the increase. While the base price for EcoBoost four-cylinder models remains unchanged, their performance package is being discontinued, and V8-powered Mustangs see a significant jump in cost.
The entry-level 2025 Ford Mustang GT coupe, featuring the 480-hp 5.0-liter V8, now starts at $47,055, a $2600 increase from the previous year. The Premium version sees the same price jump, starting at $51,575. Convertible models, now exclusively available in the Premium trim, start at $57,075.
The performance-focused Dark Horse also sees its price increase by $2645, starting at $64,875. The Premium trim for the Dark Horse now costs $69,870, a $3645 increase from last year.
The revised pricing extends beyond base models. The new 60th Anniversary package, exclusive to the GT Premium, carries a $3995 price tag. While the 10-speed automatic transmission is now a no-cost option for V8 models, other add-ons have seen price increases. The GT's Brembo brake kit, for instance, now costs $1995, up from $1695, while the Bronze Appearance package has increased from $1095 to $1195.
While the base price for EcoBoost models remains consistent, the 2.3L High Performance package, previously costing $3475, has been discontinued. This package offered a host of track-focused upgrades, including summer tires, Brembo brakes, a limited-slip rear differential, and an electric handbrake.
It remains to be seen whether the Ford Mustang can withstand the increased competition and rising prices. However, its long-standing legacy and enduring appeal suggest that it will continue to captivate automotive enthusiasts, even with the price adjustments.

Increased competition? Literally the only standing affordable V8 car, what competition?

Thanks for your comment! While it's true that the Mustang is one of the few affordable V-8 cars left, it's facing increased competition from other performance-oriented models, even if they have different powertrains. Cars like the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, and various turbocharged or electric performance cars are all vying for attention in the market. The competition might not be direct in terms of V-8 engines, but it's definitely there in terms of performance and driving excitement.

At it's current pricing there are superior options unless you really want a high revving V8 that lacks torque. Not to mention the build quality is always dodgy.
