    Klay Thompson is now officially a Dallas Maverick but it didn’t have to be this way. This is a look at why Golden State has most of the blame for the Splash Brothers’ divorce and what’s next for both teams.

    This makes no sense. The Warriors gave him a 4 year max deal AFTER he broke his leg, then he tore his achilles keeping him out of the game for over 2.5 seasons. Even after he played below average to straight up terrible in both playoff runs, they still offered him a 2 year deal around $50M prior to last season, which he rejected. And that's before he had his worse season since 2014, then he had one of the worst games of his career.

    This is GAS LIGHTING. The Wiggins deal, the jordan pool deal and the Dreymond deal all happened before the new Bargaining Agreement. Thr new CBA has basically made where owners dont want ro shovel out the money, so Wigs, Pool and Green getting paid has nothing to do with respect. Also lets address Klay, Klau was given a deal AFTER he got hurt for 5 years 190 mil. Didnt play for 2 of those years, meanwhile Dreymond had not been taken care if by the organization yet. So Klay feeling disrespected is rediculious.

      He had a hamstring strain before game 6 of the finals, he played his hardest and got injured bc someone hit him from the back. The warriors did nothing to stop him from playing. Were they just not suppose to pay there other star during the time? Are you actually stupid, why wouldn't they pay their stars when at the time he was in his Prime, when KD was just about to leave, why would they risk losing another core player...

      exactly, it rubbed me the wrong way how casey is pretending like these contracts and the respective situations are a valid reason for Klay to be mad. Dray is still a better player than Klay, Poole had a great season and was key to win the chip, plus he got assaulted at the workplace. Wiggins was also key to the 2022 chip and is younger than Klay. And even if you agreed, that all those contracts are unjustified I would just answer, that Dubs FO learned their lessen and dont hand out charity money anymore.

      "fake drama shit" is wild especially with their history. Klay was payed a max when he was injured and was offered a $48M dollar deal for 2 seasons just last season- Klay owed the WARRIORS for trusting Klay as his role as a player yet proceeded to not only shoot 0/10 in his last game ever as a HOF Warrior, but simply leave the team for a "better role?" Klay makes a decision based on his own interests and suddenly he’s a dick and the Warriors feewings are hurt? After everything he’s done? Give me a break. Klay walks away with a chance at another ring and the Warriors get to move on knowing this guy literally helped build their billion dollar business from a literal trash heap of a franchise. No, seriously, the warriors went from a bottom 5 team in revenue to a top 2 within a few years because of his contribution. The biggest injury Klay suffered was his mental health. He went from low maintenance and fun loving to a head case who just could not accept what had happened to him or that he should change the way he played the game. He went from one of the best two way players in the game to an aging and slow shooter with no other skills to offer. Turns out some of the same things that made him great when he was super athletic and in his prime were the same things that made him almost impossible to keep on the court if you wanted to win a game. He has no chill when it comes to shot selection and as soon as he's off ball as a defender is a complete space cadet who just wanders around aimlessly with no idea what to do. He doesn't rebound, doesn't box out, doesn't hustle up and down the court. Even his shooting is more inconsistent than ever because his legs are gone if he plays more than 15 minutes or if he plays too many games in a week. He can't get the same space he used to only has to be slightly off balance for him to end up Klanking bricks.
    The best thing the Mavs can do is try and keep him to a spot up shooter playing 20 mins a game at most. But his ego and theirs won't let him.

    While negotiations with the Warriors reportedly stalled over the past couple of weeks leading up to the start of free agency, Thompson spoke to Curry and requested the star point guard not to pressure the Warriors front office into re-signing Thompson, The Athletic's Anthony Slater reported in a feature story on Monday.
    "It’s been a layered five-year path to this divorce, splintering last season, sprouting earlier and finalizing in the last couple weeks, where -among the conversations Thompson had, league sources said - was a request of Stephen Curry not to exert his significant organizational influence and up the temperature with management to ensure Thompson’s return," Slater wrote. "Curry’s measured voice, even if it altered the outcome, wouldn’t change the genuineness of Joe Lacob and the front office’s true desire to have Thompson back."
    It appears his wish was granted as the Warriors reportedly had very little communication with Thompson and his representatives over the past couple of weeks.
    And now Thompson is gone.

  • @daggy5505
    @daggy5505 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    okay on top of the million people mentioning the contract that was already offered to Klay and getting paid while injured, there’s another reason we don’t owe Klay shit.
    1. Since he came back in January 2022, warriors immediately benched Poole despite that starting lineup leading them to a 20-3 start. Just for Klay to get his shine, they basically relegated Wiggins and Poole and let curry sit out games to just spend the next couple of months to allow Klay to get comfortable again. Playoffs come around and he’s still shooting tour dates and even curry who was injured, came off the bench. Klays terrible play lasted throughout the postseason minus the occasional great game (game 6 grizzlies comes to mind) and he was horrendous in those finals but yk what, they won the chip anyway
    2. The next season starts and once again this make-a-wish offense for Klay has not subsided at all despite and this is also after the Poole incident, so Poole got a lot of the blame that Klay could’ve had in that moment. Wiggins taking PTO and curry being injured just allowed Klay to take as many shots as he wanted and honestly he had a great stretch in the second half of 2023 season so no complaints there. However, once the playoffs started he was once again terrible especially against the lakers where he shot springtime tour dates.
    3. Imo he should’ve been benched during the 22-23 season to rip the band-aid off but after a bunch of infighting it finally happened in the 23-24 season for Podz. He’s a great rookie but he’s also not meant to play in the Klay role so it was an awkward fit at times. Despite the benching, Klay did seem a lot better here and it seemed like he was getting ready to accept it.
    Him leaving was tough to see because he’s one of the greatest shooters of all time and one of the faces of the greatest dynasties of all time, but imo he’s had more than enough chances than most nba players do coming off this many setbacks. I feel for the guy, but you can only get so many chances in life and he blew them
